I listen to death metal, play violent video games, and have yet to kill someone. However, when I was young, didn't listen to music with violent lyrics or play violent video games, I had some anger management issues. It's pretty stupid how everyone assumes video games breed violence because people playing them won't think people will actually die. Yeah, maybe when they're a toddler and really impressionable, but they shouldn't be watching, let alone playing, those kinds of games anyway.

I'd say a very high majority of people arn't influenced by these violent things in our pop culture, but there is that slight amount of people who are and so people automatically assume everyone is just as impressionable

Most people aren't going to go kill someone after playing some violent video game. However, violence in movies and video games does desensitize us. It makes the entire thing seem less important, less scary. So why I don't think it gives anyone the ability to kill, some people who have that ability but would otherwise not, may kill.

i play halo 3 and you dont see me driving a warthog, Sticking plasma grenades, and beating people down with a gravity hammer dont you? Its just the kids that snap from being picked on and downsized their whole lifes... if people payed more attention and didnt b***h about everything or yell for no good reason we'd see less violence

Honestly, I listen to metal, I play violent video games and yet I'm still the type of person who would feel bad even thinking about slapping a person. I believe that the stereotype society has placed on video games and music has gotten to the point of being downright ridiculous. In fact, if you look at stuff statistic wise people who play the video games are less likely to go and do stupid things because the video game gets out their agressions, frustrations and does so in a less harmful way. Look at it this way, I'm an artist, but that doesn't mean that I'm a grafitti person who is marking up walls. Basically put, just because you do one thing in a certain setting doesn't mean that you are going to go and do that thing elsewhere.

If your talking about the school shooting thing, the fact that they played violent video games is coincidental. They were picked on and teased to the breaking point. I have played many fighting and shooting games, and any aggression I have is natural or has been nurtured by friends and family. And kids that are highly impressionable, like the toddlers, shouldnt be playing or watching anything like that.

I don't think the kind of video game affects your music taste. I think that it's maybe the other way around.
But your "violent" video games aren't really so violent when you think about it. razz I play Ace Combat, Halo, a little bit of Resident Evil, and I don't think they're violent. You haven't seen violent. Violence is more to real life. Life is more violent than video games. I don't think that GTA can have as much bloodshed as there is in the world around you, even though it seems a person has more than six pints of blood in a "violent" video game. lol
And that little "study" about people who play "violent" video games go around killing people, acting violent, having mental issues, etc. is not true. The cause is their home life. Most likely they have parents who drink, do drugs, or other stuff. They wanna get away from that, and they don't have anyone to look up to. The closest thing they got is video games, often. Hell, it's a similar situation with my brother, but guess what? Those video games actually helped him.
So, technically, interactive entertainment is good for you.
-Had to do that rant. Got tired of people ragging on video games because they "cause violence". stare talk2hand

As I said earlier, I don't think violent video games causes violence. I think that it makes those people who are on the borderline more likely to go over, that's all.

Violent games and metal are things that can get stress relieved. Metal in there for everybody, it can relate to anyone, and it gives people a safe place to kinda take their aggression out by belting out songs in their closed bedroom door. Would you rather have your youngin' out in the streets starting s**t? Or would you rather have them in a mosh pit startin' s**t?

I don't think it will cause violence. At least not to mature people. But, maybe if a kid has been playing those games since they are very little...... it may contributes to violence in the kids behavior. For example [That's right, I have an example!] , my nephew. He has been watching this DVDs of Ultraman, Power Rangers and so on. I know this shows are trying to show the 'good will win against the bad' thing, but, after he watched the shows, he'll start doing the fights to his own little brother. And of course his brother will fight back. He's just 4 years old this year... and of course not mature enough to know that it's wrong to do that.
