Sort of.
More like...
flippant shading fun.

Mmm pectoral is much too high I realized at the last moment.
-crycry-

As well as a few other things.
Shading is a much torturous thing for me, as I don't think of the logical places that light and dark would go. Fufu.
Tips on shading techniques in general would be helpful, as it's always something that hurts my mind.

I do like his creepy hand though.

Tips for shading with pencil: I'd recommend going with a variety of different pencil weights, starting with the lightest and then going to dark. With a light pencil you can very lightly go in and map out where shadows would be as well as highlights. Pick a direction the light is coming from- if it's the sun or the moonlight, it should come from above, and things that are lower/to a side would be darker etc. Think of your drawing as though it was a three dimensional form or like a wire mesh thing for 3D animation- Certain planes at certain angles would be effected by the light in one way or another. ATM, your drawing is very gray, possibly a result of being not confident in where to put the shadows, but even if the direction is incorrect (try to work it!) still, you need darker darks to counteract your lighter lights. Squint your eyes while shading! if you can still make out the forms, you're doing good- if it's just a gray blur, it might stand a bit more contrast!

These tips are mostly for technique- I hope someone else who's more experienced dealing with lighting/shadow can give you more advice ^^'

Interesting design for this critter, definitely! A bit androgynous, but I suppose a unicorn beast calls for a touch of androgyny wink I think it's his hips/bum that give me that impression. For some reason, his expression/mouth is my favorite part XD

Ahh thanks.
I am always worried about putting on 'too much' shading.
Thanks n_n_n

This just isn't very appealing to me, so I have little to offer.

Um, try a more dynamic angle?

Any reason why?

Sideview is my favorite view.
Dynamic angles be cursed!

I think it looks wonderful.
i like the updated version of it.
it gives it an even more ominous feeling.
with the muscle shading, and everything.

A tip on pencil shading:
Do NOT do any rubbing. It automatically brings down the quality of any drawing.
Also, try cross-hatching to block in shadows. It takes some practice, but it looks very nice when done properly.
