Ok guys. I've been freaking out about everything lately. Nothing I normally do to calm myself down is really working. So what do you suggest? How do you calm down. Unless you are all normal and don't flip out over stupid things that people shouldn't obsess about.
Any way to calm down please. .____.

.____.;
I've been there.
The way I found to calm down was to distract myself with something that was fun until I regained my sanity and could get back to work.
Google suggests these:
Take a Walk: Exercise can be a great stress reliever in itself, as it helps you blow off steam and releases endorphins. Taking a walk when stressed provides the bonus of getting you out of the stressful situation and providing some perspective so you can return in a new frame of mind. (Learn more about the benefits of exercise here.) Take a Breath: If you're not in a position to leave, you can feel better right away by practicing breathing exercises. Getting more oxygen into your body and releasing physical tension are two ways that breathing exercises can benefit you, and you can do them anytime or anywhere, even if your demanding situation isn't letting up. (Learn more about breathing exercises here.) Take a Mental Break: If you can steal away a few minutes of peace, visualizations and guided imagery are a wonderful way to restore peace of mind. They're easy to do, and can relax you physically as well as mentally. (Learn more about visualizations and guided imagery here.) Reframe Your Situation: Sometimes we intensify our experience of stressful situations by the way we look at them. If you can look at your situation differently, you may be able to put it into a different perspective--one that causes you less stress! Read more about mental and emotional stress that can be caused by pessimism, type A traits, and other self-sabotaging thought patterns, and learn how you can change the way you look at things. It'll come in handy when you're stressed. (Learn more about mental stress and self sabotage here.) Try Progressive Muscle Relaxation: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a technique where you tense and release all of your muscle groups, leaving your body feel more relaxed afterward. PMR is one of my favorite techniques, as it can be done by just about anyone, and with practice you can fully release virtually all the tension you're feeling in your body in a matter of seconds! This can help you feel more calm and better able to handle the situations at hand. (Learn how to practice PMR here.)
Hope you feel better, Meru!

Ezzy has mild OCD, so when she worries about things, she worries a lot.
Here's how Ezzy keeps herself from crying when she's worrying:
Pick a happy song, a song that you like, preferable a repetitive one. Get a catchy line in your head, and whenever you start going on and worryworryworrying, just sing it or hum it, and make that song the only thing in your mind. Block out everything else but that.
For me, it helps cut off the brain-train.

Sometimes when I feel like I'm about to panic about something I usually try to talk myself out of it or distract myself with something. But that doesn't always work. If I can I try to talk it out with someone.
This probably isn't much help. :/

I panic about the most RIDICULOUS things sometimes, so I can understand that.
Basically... if I'm panicking I try to talk myself out of it. Tell myself I don't need to work myself up this much, tell myself.. well, that I'm being ridiculous and that I'm stronger than how I'm acting.
Sometimes taking a really deep breath helps me think more clearly. o_o;
Usually talking about it helps, but when I panic talking about it is usually the LAST thing I want to do. If that happens I usually write my frustration/freakedoutness out on a piece of paper NO ONE will EVER see but me, or shut myself away in my room, alone, and just listen to the quiet and my own thoughts for awhile to calm myself down.
ILU.

I used to deal with my anxiety with a distracting activity that I could lose myself in. For me, video games helped a lot. Other things could be listening to music you really like, watching a movie or tv, anything that you enjoy doing. Try to separate yourself from what's causing the stress and just focus on your choice of activity for a little while.
