"You could say that," Brad grimaced in the slightest, as though he had a bad taste in his mouth. "But why would they want to give them physical bodies? Aren't they des..." He sighed and allowed his thoughts to trail off, not wanting to get riled up when the Hacker who was damn near the bane of his existance wasn't even in the vicinity.

He leaned on the bar, frowning a little while thinking. Really, what was Fiach thinking, allowing that to happen? From Brad's experience, Li'tae wasn't exactly a friendly puppy, and the thought of such mischevious and unpleasant critters running around in the physical world was downright frightening. Nigh, with the ability to physically nag Brad? Gods, the horror.

Brad shook his head to clear his thought, taking a deep breath while considering KX's words. "Supplier getting caught?" he repeated slowly, perplexed. "Are the materials hard to come by or something?" That was his polite way of asking if it was none of his business. If it was illegal or otherwise a danger to the man next to him, he wasn't entirely sure he cared to know the details.

KX couldn't help but watch Brad's different reactions with a sharp eye, all the while his cigarette resting between his fingers. He didn't take a puff or two from it as he listened, instead letting a large amount of ash settle before he tapped it off.

He'd never really seen someone seem so ill just as the mention of a computer program (save for the WoW addicts or something) and part of him wanted to pick at the wound a little more, to rub some salt perhaps, but he bit his tongue to bid his time and to know better.

When the subject of his supplier seemed to turn into the main header KX quickly nodded, though it was a little hesitant as if he was really deciding on a course of action to explain what was going on.

"Things aren't hard to come by, it's just that...some people don't believe we should have this kind of technology out yet. I'll probably find a way to spring her when this is all over, but for now I think she's rather enjoying her time in jail."

This time, he took a puff from his cigarette and looked at his empty

"Builds character, you know."

Now that, of course, was meant as a joke. He knew nothing about prison and building character actually connecting together, but he did know that sometimes the most interesting stories came from the mouths of 'survivors'.

"Ah. Ye old mighty opinion of the righteous." The words were somewhat mumbled, more to himself than KX, but audible all the same. Brad was a bit of an opinionated man himself, but to halt progressions for ones own beliefs seemed ridiculous to him. Sure, he could be missing the mark completely, but he'd let the subject drop from there. Somehow, jail time seemed like a safer subject to broach than the man's job. That was odd in and of itself.

His shoulders rolled in a shrug, his face still a neutral mask of thought. "Wouldn't know, although we've hired enough folk fresh out to work for us." Brad's eyes flitted to KX's (the one he did have, anyway), explaining briefly, "I work in construction." He wasn't trying to be vague, but it seemed to flow well for the given conversation with the even more mystifying company at hand.

KX honestly wasn't sure what Brad had meant or said with his phrase, but he shrugged it off in his usual manner and decree to not fret over things too much. Worries lead to heavy drinking, and as much as he liked alcohol he had work in the morning. Lots of work in the morning, to be more exact.

"I suppose you could call it something like that. If that's what you're meaning to say."

When Brad brought up the topic of his occupation KX couldn't help but smile behind his cigarette-holding hand, knowing downwards that he'd managed to get this stranger to offer far more information about himself with a minimum of effort.

It seemed like the skill of getting something out of someone without trying to hard ran in his family, as he knew his little cousin was more of a master at this action that he probably would ever be. Still, his brain and focus moved back to the conversation at hand, and KX was glad that he and Brad now had something more to talk about together.

"Construction, huh? so I suppose we could say we're in the same business, though through a rough manner of speaking. What part do you play in that grand scheme of things?"

KX sort of pegged Brad as the man who dished out the orders and read the blueprints like they were going out of style or else were some kind of treasure map, but deep down he hoped Brad's answer would prove him wrong...for once.

Brad folded his arms across his chest, not in the least bit deterred by the personal questions. Really, he had very little to hide, and that which he did was so far gone it hardly was worth hiding at all. "I'm an architect," he replied evenly with another roll of his shoulders, "although sometimes I work in building what I design. Just a perk of the job, I suppose." He gave a wry smile that indicated it either wasn't a perk at all...or that, perhaps, he wouldn't expect someone to consider the extra work a perk at all. He, being a workaholic, definitely had stranger outlooks than most.

"I suppose that could put us in the same business. I compose buildings of sturdy structure and new age design," he uncrossed his arms long enough to shake his hands, rolling his eyes as if it was some big deal, "while I imagine your work is somewhat more detailed and complicated." Brad might have been over-doing it with the compliment, but he wasn't sure he could deal with building something that was supposed to move. At least his creations were, for the most part, stationary and solid.

"I think you're rather lucky in that extent then, to able to play more of a part in your designs. In my jobs I either just build what is needed and send it off or just listen and do whatever is asked of me. I never get a chance to fully interact with the finished product, as I often never get to see the finished result in action."

His statement was directly relating to both of his jobs, though in what way to be expected. It could be started and pretty obvious that he wasn't able to interact with his droids after they'd been built and shipped off, so how did that affect his other job? Not that he was going to surrender the information, but...

"I'd like to see one of your buildings sometime, you know? Getting a chance to see the work of an architect in play. Building something that would last forever, as opposed to something that can worn out, interests me far more than what I tamper around with. At least you're getting to leave something behind."

KX was trying to return the compliment in his own fashion and add a little flair to it, not wanting to admit that he sort of felt the same in regards to working as Brad. It seemed like in regards to his jobs, KX didn't know how to 'turn off' and found himself working overtime in both positions.

"It's not always the case. More often than not, I'm pulled in on a commission basis." He waved a hand, his expression tightening only the slightest in distaste. "Y'know, they say 'I want this,' and you have to try and bend to that while not outright telling them that they should leave my job to me." Brad actually laughed at that a little, moving his hand to rub the back of his neck.

He was never that rude with customers, of course, but sometimes he wished he could be. It was awkward, trying to tell a person who had their heart set on a certain building that their creation would collapse because they have no clue what they're doing. Ah, being a professional. And still, no one took his word for face value too much.

But that was neither here nor there. His indigo eyes shifted over KX, giving a brief shrug. "Sure. I live in one of them, actually. I'll leave you with the names of some of the buildings before we part company. But..." again he regarded the man, lips pulled into a neutral line, "...is that really possible? To pull an...no, they aren't even AI. Can you transfer a conscious mind into a mechanical body?"

Now, that was a heavy thought. If that's what they were doing, it was...revolutionary, frightening and horrifying all at once. Brad wouldn't take it personal if KX didn't want to answer, because quite frankly, if that was his job, he'd never want to talk about it.

KX had to let out a soft chuckle of agreement at Brad's comment about people not knowing what could and could not be done in regards of anything, and he simply bobbed his head in amusement and kept his eye fixed down at the cigarette that smoldered in his grasp. It'd been a moment or two since he last took a puff, an improvement he surmised, but that wouldn't last very long. He was starting to feel an urge, one he quietly gave in to by placing the butt against his lips.

"Are you trying to ask me is it possible to play God, in a more or less roundabout way?"

His statement was flat, almost void of emotion, because in a way it was like KX was playing Creator. He was giving bodies to things that didn't have them before, allowing them to 'live' amongst humans generally undetected unless someone was paying close enough attention.

KX took another drag on his cigarette, this time one long enough that the stick was done and he had to drop the butt into the ashtray before him. He'd smoked enough for now, but was pretty sure he'd light up another one right outside as soon as he left.

"The answer is yes, it is. It takes a lot of time to do it, a lot of effort and cash to be more exact, but it can be done. I've done it several times in fact, making it so that those 'Hackers' at the headquarters can now touch one another."

He smiled bitterly, wondering if that sounded as gross to someone else as it did to him. While KX never really liked to think about it, he knew exactly why those creatures had wanted bodies in the first place. Anything, even an AI, could only stand so much curiosity before they wanted to try it out firsthand.

Brad shook his head at the question KX posed to him. He'd tell the man that he was agnostic, but such things shouldn't be spoken of in a first meeting. That was a bit heavy for the bar scene, even for someone as surly and noncommital as the tall Italian.

He couldn't help the minor blanch in reaction to KX's tone and words. Could he imagine Nigh with the ability to touch things? No. It was bad enough the bugger could touch his files, but in life? No doubt most of his more delicate belongings - delicate, of course, referring to his technological possessions - would be completely dismantled into a lack of recognition. Not because Nigh was a bad Hacker, but because he was just that curious and thoughtless.

The man sighed heavily. He'd like to keep this information to himself, but if there was a log of this information at ALL...no doubt Nigh and the others had it already. Maybe that's why the Hacker had been so agreeable lately, even. "Well. I thank you for the warning." Indigo eyes returned to KX, a faint smile tugging at the edge of his lips. "Your job is quite frightening, and I don't envy you one ounce for it." Brad wasn't exactly scared of what KX did, but it was unnerving, and something he didn't really want to acknowledge. It was just human nature to assume one was afraid of what they didn't understand.
