It's been getting me down lately, but there's this girl I've liked for a while. Actually, it's been an on/off crush over a year or so. But I've started talking to her a lot more than I used to lately. I see her at school, but she's in the year below me so we still don't get to talk all the time.

When I do talk to her, it's usually in the art room, we tend to spend lunch times there sometimes, and it's just coincidence that we tend to bump into each other there quite a bit. But it seems that she's trying to flirt with me. She keeps touching my arm or my hair whenever she walks behind me, it's really sweet.

Thing is though, I really want to ask her out, but I don't even know for sure if she's flirting at all - she could just be being affectionate as a friend. I don't even know for sure if she's gay or not. Like me, she's never had a boyfriend and says that she's not interested in boys yet - which is the same answer I always used to give when anyone asked me if I had a boyfriend. We were talking yesterday and it got around to the rather awkward topic of sex ed, and how they had to look at condoms and all that. She then said to me 'I was the only one who didn't join in. I think I might be gay or something.' Thing is though, I have no idea whether she said it jokingly or not, but I said back to her that I was gay and then she jokingly stroked my arm like she does.

I don't know what to do. We're both quite shy and I doubt she'd ask me out any time soon, and I'm the same way. If only I could just build up my confidence to ask her out sometime, it might all be worth it. Then again, I don't even know if she even likes girls for sure. This is the situation I've been going over in my head for ages with. I should ask her out because she might think the same way. One part of me thinks that she has a crush on me. Another part of me thinks that she's just joking around and is actually straight, and I'll only get knocked down again if I ask her out. I need advice please.

Thanks. We actually had the conversation about who she likes yesterday. She just said that she's not into boys and left it at that. I think I'll just flirt back to her, see how she reacts. I actually told her today over MSN that I think she's cute. Apparently I 'gave her the butterflies'. heart whee

I'll make a resolution to tell her soon. After all, I haven't got much to lose have I? And even if I do mess up, I hope she'll still talk to me.

I hope she won't. I've just never had a love life before so I don't know these things. I've just got this thought in my head that she doesn't realise what she's doing to me and that she's actually straight and that she'll hate me forever if I ask her out. But then again, maybe that's just me and my paranoia.. wink
