Sorry I can't empathize since my boyfriend never read Twilight, I'm slowly pushing him towards it though. I'm also really pro Edward because they seem meant for each other, Edward may seem cold, but inside he really cares a ton.
Also: My boyfriend's name is Jacob..so you see how Bella X Jacob really isn't that appealing to me..

My boyfriend actually read twilight over my shoulder. He caught me reading it in the stairwell of my high school. I was actually totally unaware that he was reading it along with me. He was like
"This Bella girl acts a lot like you... way too clumsy."
My boyfriend is kinda like Jacob : tall...way taller than me, hes got a little muscle and hes dark haired. and hes very easy going and likes to joke.
On the other hand, the fact that hes always trying to make sure I don't hurt myself makes him like Edward. After that I lent him Twilight and now hes reading New Moon. ^___^ My boyfriend likes it. He thinks alice is awesome.
And as for Jacob or Edward.... I gotta say I like Edward a little more than Jacob

[dancing] I'm just surpirsed that any guy would read Twilight. I'm not saying they shouldn't, they all should it just kind of stikes me as a girlie book. I've been trying to get guys I'm friends with to read it but they won't sadly haha. ya i know.... my friend Carter does want to read it though... but he just can't finish a book. He just wants action and gore... ughh... haha

I'm guessing that after sitting next to a sado-masochist towards Edward fantasies and a plain Edward fanatic that talk non stop about the book, probably made my boyfriend want to read it at about the same time I did.
I found New Moon in my french class and was mauled by my friend Sheila to check out the book. . .so I did!
So yeah, we liked the book like alot.
He just finished New Moon, I'm half way done. . .
and every now and then he called me and went,
"Yeah. . .I'm really starting to hate Jacob."
I just sympathized, "Yep, me too. But maybe it gets better."
He calls me later all happy, "I love Alice right now!"
