Ever had a day where you come across the same theme multiple times, and every time you see it, you wonder, "Why is everyone talking about this today?" Especially when you know how completely ridiculous the argument is and that people of relative intelligence should be able to figure it out on their own?

Yesterday, I came across roughly seven sets of people (between my real world and the Gaia world) who were arguing the definition of death. I thought, "How do you argue the definition of a word when you can look it up?" Especially because in every case, the answer was found within the proper definition. "The cessation of all vital functions." Simple enough.

Today, I have come across at least six sets of people who were arguing whether or not anything exists. Seriously. They were claiming that I do not exist. Again, this is a matter of definition, and I find it completely incomprehensible that more than one group of people could argue about this in front of me in any given day. If either of them had bothered to look up the definition of, "exist," at some point, it would've come to an end before I had to throw something heavy at them.

So, tell me, have you ever had one of those days?

I feel like that everyday.

But I think that when people debate things, a lot of times what they're looking for isn't truth, but rather different ways of interpreting things. Some just like to impress with fancy viewpoints and big words, which doesn't always work.

I decided at some point that I wouldn't hold that against anyone, because we all say and misinterpret things incorrectly. Maybe those people arguing about existance don't really care about whether or not we exist, but find the idea that we don't to be something fun.

People like you and me like to argue the blunt, cold hard truth, which is also probably the most boring way you could possibly look at our world. Sometimes I envy the people who look like complete idiots, talking about things like existance by spewing thoughts from their own imagination. It's like believing in a religion. You can't prove or disprove it, but those who have faith in what they're taught feel a sense of soundness and order that we reject.

The ones who reject are the ones who become famous, and will probably go mad and do crazy things like commiting suicide. o__O...

Ugh...I personally hate reading long posts, so I'm soooorry about this if you're like me. -__-;; (more than 1 paragraph = long)

Existence discussion usually isn't serious. In all honesty, there is no proof that you or I exist- we just have to stop at a concrete point and all agree what perceptions we're going to take to be reality. Otherwise things get confusing.

I remember once error[dot]exe really kicked my a** in an existence discussion.

And then there's the fact that we can't distinguish a perception from reality. Like, if I smell onions, and no onion is there, am I really smelling onions? Well, yes, yes I am. But it could just be some random compilations of neurons knocking into one another making me smell onions. Or something.

Serendipity. It's beautiful, isn't it? how we can so randomly stumble onto these things so many times during a day, regardless of how large the world is.

For me things are usually much simpler; however, sometimes when I get on Gaia and discuss something rather important regarding theology or morality, it is usually brought back to me at my Church or by other people I know.

Some people would say that after we discuss or think of something meaningful or valuable, we go about trying to find more of it in the world; I can see how this is probable, however, I can not see how exactly it takes into effect--especially when the value or meaning we're searching for is brought up in the exact same context a couple times during any given day/week. I truly don't know whether to blame fate, serendipity, or just plain old coincidence. . .but I do know that these things happen, and oddly enough, happen all the time.

I don't know that I notice this. I tend to gravitate towards particular topics and steer clear of all the ones that don't interest me. sweatdrop

rofl you think that is bad, tell me why are the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, and 25 are always follow me around? My life seems to follow a theme at times, lol . Things just happened, when you notice them it can sometimes be funny. Like how all my IDs, cards, just random serial numbers that are given to me alway has the number 11 or 25 in it.

There is some people that think if if you can find patterns in your life than you can make a guess about what is going to happen next. It is fun to try and sometimes it works lol .

Well I don't really agree that by looking up a definition you have the truth. Dictionaries are only created by humans with certain beliefs. It may be a commonly held belief, but though we live in a democratic political structure, it doesn't mean that truth is a belief held by the most people. For instance, certain animals can only perceive certain colours. Do the other colours not exist? Are the colours we perceive and name the same as other people? Does the dictionary answer this question?

Yeah, sometimes I get similar days. Sometimes when I look up a word for the first time, I'll hear people use it more. Maybe it's just that I'm noticing it more, but it's weird, to say the least.
