I am working on a mini gatlin paintball gun, how many of you would want one, or what do you think of it? It would have three barrels and a potentialy remote hopper. Thanks.

I'll post up the casing sometime, but for obvious reasons I can't post the innards.

I'll post the original casing design within a week, including estamets for size. It's still in the drafting stages so I probably won't get a pic of it within a year to half a year at best.

Okay, here is the original casing design, roughly what it will look like. The top measurement is 3-4'. Please comment on features or locations of hopper, gas intake, ect. Thanks.

You will DEFINTIELY want to run remote to this... probably a 102 or 8 ci tank... 4500 PSI if possible. Anyways, my only complaint is how much is included on the main handle. I would sugest teh safety be somewhere along the casing and install mounts for a harness. Carrying that much weight and running around won't be easy. another noticeable problem is the hopper port. for three barrels, you will need something fast, a Halo or Vlocity for sure. The main problem however, will be gettng the paint into the barrel without the paint being chopped or generally man handled. if you can come up with a smooth system of the paint getting into the barrel and then having it travel up and around to the top where it would be fired, you would be better off...
the next main problem is going to be creating a working seal between each barrel and your air source/noid. Assuming the barrels will spin, before your marker can fire, the barrel will have to rotate into place, seal, allow air in behind the ball, and then depressurize before the next barrel can be fired. this won't be an easy or cheap operation, keep that in mind.

hopefully your good with timming, because with only three barrels, it's going to break alot of paint, and be hard to program, and have to have a really fast motor to spin over all of those gaps, I'd say to make at least 5 barrels, probably be better with 6. and make sure you weld on a few extra barrel supports more than what the conventional gatling has.

A simple way to get the barrels spining is to use a power drill motor and drive train from on that runs off a battery pack.
Now for timing:
1. have the gun shoot down the axis of the barrels and advoid haveing to time it all together. (Spinning barrels would be just for looks.
2. Use a moveable "eye" system so that you can advance it or move it back to adjust the timing. cut a small gap on the outer edge of the guide wheel that is inline with the barrels and the center of the guide wheel. I will post an example of what i mean later

You wouldn't need spinning barrels but you should add about 2 hopper ports for each barrel in my opinion, or custom make a hopper. Also make sure you get all the right measurements for barrel and feeds if they are going to be internal. If you want spinning barrels you should get a timing system other wise it could chop paint or shoot to early. Also use like a RC car motor for the spinning barrels would be easy to hook up and already spins so its pretty much done. if you need any help just pm me. My friend made a mini-gun that loads in roughly 10 cases per hopper. it had 10 barrels and wasted the hopper in about 2 minutes.
