I've scanned the database and I can't find anything that makes you start out with a certain number of items.
So what you could do, is just make a treasure chest close by when you start the game, and have that give you 3 potions.

Or, if you have an event right near the beginning that must happen (ex: you have to talk to someone to be able to go onto the next place) just add that onto that event. Of course, I think the treasure chest idea is the best, because everyone is like "Treasure chest! Let's see what's inside!" it honestly never fails.
Oh, or if your cut scene is at the beginning of the game, just add that into there somewhere. That's probably an even better idea, and saves you from making a new event.

Yeah if you have a cut scene in the beginning just add it in there. All you'd have to do is edit the event command in to give the party 3 potions just randomly during the cut scene. It doesn't really matter where.

Well you guys, another problem befalls me.
For my opening cinematic, everything works, but when I finally (After EVERYTHING) want it so you can controll the hero, and play the game, it won't let you. So it stays stuck there because you can't move. Wierd, huh?

Mmm..typical problem. All you should have to do, is after the cinematic is over, for the last event command, just put "Erase Event." If that doesn't work..there's other things you could do, but it gets a little more complicated. See if this works first though.
