Ever since Avani had left home, ran away, as their father was constently bellowing everytime he came back to the small house long enough, Lei had found herself somewhere OUTSIDE the house.

She rested her chin in one hand as she threw rocks into the Zoo's pond. With the loss of a mother, brother and finally sister, she imagined most people would be quite bitter, but Avani had arranged for her to go work for Tsai Shen's family and early the next day she would move her few possessions to their servents quarters. Her older sister had also very vehemently promised to come back or send for her as soon as she could.

Lei threw another rock at the elephant koi. It had been more then a week now. It wasn't going to be soon enough.
