Recently I picked up a new hobby. Having gone to a local craft store to pick up a jewlery making compnent for my sister I was quite surprised, albeit pleasantly, to find chain maille jewelery kits.
Thrilled at the idea learning this new hobby I purchased one of these kits, and one evening after I had the girls to bed I made myself a pair of earrings that the kit titled "Japanese Lattice" earrings also in this kit was enough jump rings for a pair of "Japanese 6-in-1" earrings. I have completed only one of this pair.
After my sister saw my earrings she too wanted a pair... so I agreed to make her a pair. I went back to the store to purchase another kit and they were out of the earring, but had a kit for a "Japanese 6-in-1" bracelet. I purchased this kit and some ear wires and made her a pair of earrings as well. Having seen this the elder of my two younger brother was jealous of the maille (though most assuredly not of the earrings), so I agreed to purchase another kit and make him a maille necklace. At this time I purchased a kit for a "Byzantine" bracelet (which is the chain pattern my brother likes better—Ihe will be purchasing enough jumprings for this project seperately) and a kit for a "Helms" necklace. The "Helms" necklace I will apparently be making for the youngest of my brothers (aka Drayal).
I also have completed two more pairs of earrings; "Byzantine Chain" and "Double Flower Chain."
I have also purchased a "European 4-in-1" necklace kit for myslef.
Anyone else make maille jewelery?
Got any tips? Links to pattern sites, etc?

That hobby of yers sounds nice Jen but, without some pictures it's kinda hard to figure out why Drayal would want one of those things.
So, you guys are like, 2 brothers and 2 sisters then? I got a friend who has 2 sisters and a brother (he's the youngest one).
It's too bad I don't have any tips or anything for you as I know nothing of the subject. rolleyes
