So I recently heard from a friend that RENT: Remixed will be opening in the West End I believe.
They've basically completely rewritten RENT for modern day era, not to mention redone a bunch of the orchestrations and such. Seasons of Love is now only a reprise, not to mention quite a few other rewrittings. Major character changes have been made also, lke Angel is no long a drag queen.

What do y'all think? I think this will either be really good or really bade, probably the latter.

Ugh, just your description is enough to make me cringe, and I haven't even clicked on the link! I already say "nay" to this. Keep it the way it is for Jonathan's memory's sake.

Why would someone redo RENT??? Based on the review I just read it doesn't seem that great. Just stupid.

Why do they need to make a modern version of RENT? It may have been written like, 20 years ago. But its still almost completely accurate and if i didn't know when it was made, i would guess its only a couple years old.

But its still almost completely accurate and if i didn't know when it was made, i would guess its only a couple years old. Not even 20 years ago! Jonny finished it in the early 90's. Other plays take place in the past, why shouldn't RENT be more like the 80's and 90's?

Why fix something so perfect?
Rent couldn't be improved, so I see no point in trying.

That's why I hate the Remix of Season's of Love on the OBC cd, it completely messes the song up. I don't know why they even put it on there. But anyway... is it even RENT anymore if you change the characters...????

Is RENT: Remixed, a synonym for Suckfest 9000? If the show isn't EXACTLY like Jonathan Larson wrote it, then it is an insult to his memory.
