I was thinking of getting an acoustic bass... Like that because all guitarists have an acoustic guitar so yeh... I also think i would be convenient for school because i would be able to hear it and not plug it in and acoustic sounds cool and if its electric acoustic then ..double fun =D what do u think? btw its not that exact bass i want, i was just showin pics.

Acoustic basses have an entirely different sound
and the volume doenst get that loud, unless you Slap or play with a pick
or have a really hard finger picking style, or have a fairly hard finger style with heavy a** Callouses
but if your into it, try some out
they cost about $400 Aus for a decent one to anything for a really good one

is that an Ibanez in your siggy? I think i played that..
As for your question. Acoustic basses are not as quiet as some people think. you can sit down and play acoustic and actually hear yourself play. Along with that, Most Acoustic basses come with string configurations ( there is a fretless one I am drooling over myself), and almost all of them come with an acoustic pickup of some kind, so you can still Jam with your friends.
The downside is, you gotta buy Acoustic bass strings <_< They feel a lil weird at first, but once you get used to it, its all good. They are not as bad as getting used to Flatwound strings <_<

lol That Ibanez model Saved my life. I was at a band practice and my evil 5-string basically died and my chord did at the same time! So I borrowed THAT bass, same color and everything and a cable and played it. had to play everything on the low B a octave higher, but I wasn't complaining.
In other words, thats a great bass. I think the bassist from slipknot has a custom bass with similar pickup config from ibanez anyway :p
If you want to get a good cheap bass ( got my 6er and fretless here ) I would say rondomusic.net. You can't try them out which is a downside, but they do have a 30 day return policy, you just have to remember to change the strings and get it set up.
Acoustic Strings are not that bad actually, since they are not acoustic guitar strings. They are still bass strings and are pretty big, so its not that much different.

I dunno how well that bass is, but unless you are playing some kind of metal the look doesn't fit, well in my opinion anyway. BUT when I Auditioned for Blue Man Group, Someone did bring a red BC rich that I liked http://www.bcrich.com/bass_heritage_classic_mock.htmlSadly enough, the guy who brought it got into BMG, but hey, I was in the last group of 4 mrgreen
