Good ideas! Part of the reason I think the two guilds I'm thinking of have died is either - too specific a topic for a guild, members quitting gaia, or even just people forgetting about the guild or lurking and not posting at all.

---|See, specific topics can actually be a good thing. If you have a general guild that's just like every other general guild, why would anyone join yours over another one? If you have a guild with a topic that appeals to a certain interest group, however, you're more likely to attract active members.
(In case that sounded kind of pre-rehearsed, it's because I spend hours at GGN Support doing the same sort of thing for new captains.)|---
