The dark ocean waters lapped at her hooves as Jiao, the bringer of dreams, gazed out accross its vast magnifigance. In the sky the setting sun cast a glow accross its rippleing surface - bathing the world in its last rays of warmth. The gentle breeze -- filled with the smell of salt, and all other ocean-y things -- whipped her hair about, but she closed her eyes and enjoyed the coolness, as empending darkness ran its gentle fingers over her.

The evening sand felt pleasant, still warm from the earlier heat. It swam around his feet, sinking his hooves a few centimeters as he stepped through it. The pull of the tide was steady as the water moved in and out of range, creeping up nearly to his hooves, before retreating, and enacting the cycle again. It was certainly peaceful, the feeling of the sand on his hooves, the breeze that gently swept his mane, and the rushing sound of the ocean as it lapped at the shore. He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he admired the sunset's colours, as they faded from gold to black.
Such was it that Tong Hua barely even noticed the other qilin until he was almost beside her. She was so quite, seemed so serene and absolutely at peace that she almost seemed to blend right into the landscape. And no doubt she could have if it had been a little darker, but for now the rich purple hue stood out a little as the fading sun set it's faint glow on her. She looked somewhat familiar...though for the life of him he could not tell where he had met her before. Or even if he had indeed, perhaps he was just imagining it. A sudden thought came into his head and he blinked rapidly. He hoped he wasn't intruding upon her. Better make sure he wasn't going to be a bother.
"Hello, I'm sorry I didn't see you until just now, you move so calmly. I hope I'm not intruding on you."

So deep in her thoughts, Jiao was, that she had not heard the other's approach. Her head immediately jerked aas she looked at the vauguely familiar qilin. After the initial startle, she gave her characterisitc soft smile, and shook her head. "It would only be intruding if I were doing anything of importance"
she could not place where she had seen him before - though she saw so many faces, human and qilin alike, that it was hard to remember every dreamer,...
"I am called Jiao," She introduced.

He looked a little sheepish as he startled her. She had been pretty deep in thought then. But as she smiled warmly, Tong Hua returned the gesture, feeling better that she hadn't minded terrible. He took her answer to mean that she hadn't been doing anything of extreme importance, or else she most likely would have said. Well good, he hated inturupting, especially those who were deep in thought or unprepared for company. Thankfully the mare didn't seem to mind.
Oh right, introductions. He had forgotten that. "I'm Tong Hua," he offered. "Sorry about startling you." He had been goign to say, nice to meet you, but then, he wasn't really sure if he was meeting her for the first time or not, so that may not be the most appropriate response in any case.

"No harm done," She said, then paused a bit as she considered continueing. She really felt she had seen this 'Tong Hua' before, and it was not a feeling that was easily shaken. "Pardon my asking, but have we met before? It feels like we have, but still I can not place when or where,."
Forgetting was nothing too uncomon for the dream weaver - she often got lost in her own fantasy world. Determining what was real, and what was dream was something of a small, rice-paper thin barrior for the qilin, and she prayed that should this feeling of familiarity not be the result of the fantasy world, that Tong Hua could forgive her poor memory.

So, she felt so too? Well they certainly must have met before, it could not just be pure coincidence that they both happened to think so. Though, he could not quite recall where, or when, or not much of anything concerning the circumstances of their meeting. Although...he frowned in concentration as he thought. Her voice, that was it. He remembered her voice, he had known it when he heard her speak. It was that voice that seemed not completely...tangible? Almost as if a figure out of his dream was speaking to him.
"I thought the same thing as well, but, I can't recall when or where either. Though I do remember your voice, or at least I think I do; from a long time ago. It's strange isn't it, how time plays such tricks on the mind." It was strange indeed, the more he thought about it. How something so distinctly clear at the moment, fade away into scattered bits of thought later on. And this qilin, she seemed like she could be like that. Not simply a memory really. But, more like a memory of a dream.

"Hn" She nodded, and started a slow walk along the shore as she continued to speak. "Even more so, when one's mind is more susceptable to such tricks." The wet sand glittered, and reflected fragments of the stars above, and her light blue eyes looked from the sand to the stars. Reality, and the reflection. Tonight would open up many speculations left in the back of the mind, but it didn't need to be unpleasant. She looked over her shoulder. "Accompany me? We should talk more,." She gave a soft smile. It wasn't often she had conversation. She was always there - guiding others through thier slumber, but a waking conversation with something - someone, real, was not a common occurance for the qilin.

"Yes, very true. Unfortunately so." It did indeed seem unfortunate, how time washed away so much. But he supposed, if one really wished to, memories could be retained. That in itself brought a little joy at least. For he supposed it would be to much to remember everything that occured.
He watched her as she gazed at the sky and sand, wondering what she was thinking. She always seemed to be so in tune with her thoughts. His, they flew around his head like birds, tame sometimes, wild at others. He let his gaze wander a moment. Realizing he was staring into the sky, he looked back, realizing for the first time that the crescent moon on her shoulder matched the one fading into view above.
"Of course. Conversation is always good to put the mind at ease." Or, the opposite could be true as well, but she seemed to be the softer type, everything about her pointed to a serene nature. He nodded his head to reinforce his words and trotted lightly to her side. It would be nice to speak with her, he had been rather lacking in conversations with other qilin, he just hadn't happened to run into many.

"hn, yeah,." She said with a warm smile. "So, we need a topic. any ideas?" Starting off on a conversation about topics to start a conversation - now to see how this evolves --
Like a soft sweet dream that you don't remember when you wake up, but leaves you feeling at ease and happy when you awake? Or a nightmare that wakes you up in the middle of the night, where you can't go back to sleep? She certainly hoped for the former - it would be terrible if she were to lose a friend before they were able to really become friends!

Hmmm...conversation topics? He thought about this. Truthfully, he wasn't quite sure, after all, he supposed he had never made much of a conscious effort to talk about anything in particular, usually it just so happened that he fell into whatever topic was at hand, or what had started him talking to the other qilin. Though, considering he had started a conversation with Jiao hoping that he wasn't inturupting her..well that really wasn't a world class conversation starter by anyone's standards.
He gave a small laugh. "Well, I've never really been an expert at conversation starting. But tell me, do you come here often? It seems quite a nice place, though if I hadn't stumbled upon it by chance I doubt I would have known of it's existence." Indeed, it did seem like a fairly quiet place, there wasn't much other noise aside from the ocean and the sound of their own voices. It was peaceful here, and he thought it suited Jiao.

Jiao nodded. "Indeed. It's a nice place to come to think. So quiet,..peaceful. Your lucky to have stumbled upon it - it's a nice place to come to if you need a nice calm place to stay,."
It was, indeed, a wonderous place - You had the clear sky, the stars, the reflection of the shining balls of light on the ocean. That gentle rythem of the waves, and sometimes the sound of the ever-playful dolphins. It was a nice place to come and make up new dreams, new stories for troubled dreamers in need.
And Tong Hua reminded her much of the sky after twilight, with it's sparkling stars, and fading colors. Perhaps this place suited him just as well.

"I can tell, it is nice that I stumbled upon it. Nice location too, it's not very often I find myself by the ocean, but everytime I do it's quite nice. I quite like the sea, it's so open." Indeed, it seemed so. Really, he should make an effort to actually spend time near the ocean more so than he did. Though really, he was a wanderer at heart, loving nothing more than exploration and travelling to new places. But it just so happened that the mainland was simply so big. There was just so much land...oceans, or inland seas were rare. Rivers were much more common, but though he found them nice enough, something about the ocean drew him.
Perhaps it was the wild openness, or the temptation of a vast unknown world that called to him, but either way, it was magnetic. Snorting softly, he approached the edge of the waters, letting it lap at his hooves as he stared keenly off into where the sun had just almost set. "You know," he remarked, "I wonder where it goes. The sun I mean. After it sets beyond the sea. I wonder what's out there." The thought fascinated him, for none that he had spoken to had ever been across the water. Or, for that matter knew anything at all about what was across the water. And, he wondered, what was over there?

"The ocean is full of mysteries, even for being so open, and vast,." She looked out accross the moonlit waters, in time to see Tong Hua step in the shallow lapping of the waters.
"Hn," she gave a warm smile in responce to his question. "That is perhaps something best left to dreams,.. If one could walk on water, then perhaps one could see but,..some things are best left to the imagination. Imagine how boring the world would be, if we knew everything?"

He nodded, it was true, the ocean was full of countless untold mysteries that he was sure he could not even begin to comprehend. After all, the underwater world and his world were so foreign to each other, he probaly wouldn't understand any of the sea unless it hit him in the face. Or perhaps not even.
He listened more closely to her next words, turning them over and considering what she said. He turned back to face her. "You know, maybe you're right. I suppose...well I suppose I've never thought of anything that way before, I've always been in such a rush to explore. But maybe that's true, I guess it would be a pretty boring world, filled with things we had already known." He grinned, feeling a little better now about the fact he would never see what lay across the ocean. At least it gave him something to imagine. After all, on many an occasion it was more the journey and the anticipation that he like rather than the place itself. Not that the palces weren't nice of course, only that, he felt the anticipation was what gave him the real excitement.

"But dreams," She becan, looking to the sky, well, dreamily. "Dreams always present new imaginings. New depths, and insight into our souls that is deeper than any ocean. And an adventurous soul has much to dream about." She smiled over at Tong Hua.
"we are all lucky to have the ability to pursue the places of our dreams, to seek answers. I don't think there is any risk of ever learning everything, so embrace your dreams, your 'venturing heart, and learn all you can, and in the end,.I believe you will have found life in itself was the best journey of them all." Her smile and voice were warm, even as cool winds whiped about them.
Tong Hua seemed like such an eager young soul, filled with spirit, strength, and vitality. So stimulated by the world around him, while Jiao herself was wrapped up in her own little world within, rather than around her, but this very real conversation made her realise that maybe living in the outside world - in the moment, rather than dreams - wasn't quite so lonely and boreing.
