it's sad about their singer...

is that the damnation of all rock stars, nowadays?

o_________0!

wha?! >_O Jerry Cantrel is dead?......;3; wha.....???! i didnt know that...is that really true..?

No no, Layne Staley was the frontman for Alice In Chains. Jerry Cantrell just sang back up vocals. Jerry Cantrell is great though as well. He went solo after Alice In Chains and came out with a cd a few years back called "Degradation Trip". It's a crying shame that Layne is dead though. He overdosed on heroin just like so many other great artists. crying He's definitely one of my favorite artists of all time and may he RIP. I heard that they are now back together with a new frontman which is sad because no one can ever replace Layne in my mind. I found a video of Alice In Chains playing "Angry Chair" for MTV Unplugged back in 1996 and it's amazing how great it sounds acoustic. They will always be one of my favorite bands of all time. Long live Alice In Chains!

Gah! Beat me to the punch! But Yes, Layne was god... or Jesus... or both. One of the most unique vocalists ever and gives me chills everytime. With songs like Nutshell, Queen of the Rodeo, and Rooster, AIC has proved themselves further than worthy of music.

Yep. There's not one Alice song I don't like. If you listen closely Down in a Hole is oddly similar to Led Zep's Tangerine.

Dude I love Alice In Chains! Ya know I've heard they got new stuff coming out with their new guy sometime next year!^^ If thats ture I can't wait, cause that means more touring!
They went on two different tours this year and I'm pissed cause I couldn't see either one. evil

Meh, I just don't think you can replace an entity like Layne Staley. The band should have ended after his demise. The only way I would consider seeing them is if they continued as a power Trio with Jerry taking over lead vocals. New material and the old songs Jerry sang on.

But I could have sworn they were debating changing the name with William Duvall I believe his name is. I think they were saying they'd like to continue on with him under a new name. Which I would think would be best.

I love Down in a Hole. That's the first ever Alice in Chains song I ever heard. I heard Bronson Arroyo's cover of it, then I heard their original one. I jut heard like 2 days ago about Layne Stanley! I never knew he was dead!! crying I feel so bad! He was so awesome in their songs. I heard they got a new singer. He doesn't look hot though and I don't think he can ever replace Layne. emo
