Swimming along, Sunking waited until they were just out of earshot of the purple one. Then, quite bluntly, and with a very serious expression on his face, he stated as if speaking to a very young child, "Aiyana, you are not in love with this beta."

"Yes, I am Daddy. You're not me you don't know how I feel, so PLEASE, don't try to bully me. I'm not a child anymore. I love you Daddy, and I want you in my life, but I want him in my life too. Please, Daddy, be reasonable." Aiyana gave her Father her most serious, grown up look.

He gave a sadden sigh, the sigh of a father burdened by the task of enlightening his offspring to the ways of the world. "I do not know where you got the notion that I would try to bully you. A father does not bully his children." He reached out a fin to touch the top of her head gently. "But what you have not yet learned is that what you are feeling is not love, it is lust. It is quite easy to confuse the two."

Is that so hard to understand?" Aiyana swims forward to give her Father a hug, her eyes filling with angry tears.

Kiernan remains focused on the father and daughter, tense and unhappy having to stay where he at. Her tears tug at his heart and he wishes he could go over there and comfort her. If not for the fact that she wanted him to stay back, he would be there already. He grumbles to himself, "You're a damn fool if you can't see that your bigotry is hurting your daughter, and I can't understand why you'd ever do anything to hurt any of your own children." He sighs and watches her with the knowledge that he can't help her right now.

The thing was, it *was* that hard for him to understand. The possibility that one of his children could feel love for a... Well, it was beyond his grasp. Sunking welcomed her hug in, encompassing her in a golden cascade of fins. "I am telling you, Aiyana, that you do not know the difference. You are far too inexperienced to know that." Even as he smoothed her scales, his voice firmed. "You must know that I, being your elder, have a much higher insight on these matters than you do. If you cannot accept that..."

"Daddy, I love you, I always will. I love him too. The color of his scales don't matter to me, I love him for his mind, Daddy. Can you really look at me and tell me I can't be with the Beta I love?" Aiyana pulls back to look her Father in the eyes, tears now streaming angrily down her face.

His gold eyes were dry when they met hers, but bore a deep heaviness. "I cannot tell you more than what I have already. This will be your choice to make, but remember this..." His chin lifted, eyes narrowing almost imperceptibly. "If you do this, you cannot return to me once you realize the folly of your ways."
