Eh, I'd say shammy's & palys are similar hybrid classes. They're not REAL hybrids, in my opinion, only the Druid is now, but yes. And Prot = leveling spec. ;P
Anyhow, I agree with going Enhancement for leveling. JUST LEVELING. If you want to group after 60, go Resto. Because honestly, Enhancement & Elemental shammies just aren't that useful in a group. Elemental only if you don't have any sort of ranged DPS class up for the instance. Enhancement... egh. >_<;;
Great DPS while being able to buff the other DPS with Unleash Rage, heal on occasion (himself/group), And rez themselves and other people = Useless?
Thing is, is that while Enhancement DPS is good, it isn't the best, especially since their melee DPS doesn't scale better enough compared to Rogues or Warriors (non-tanks).
Overall, Enhancement shammies are best as a Support/DPS because they are most beneficial when the party they are a part of consists of more melee DPSers. In a normal party, their efforts are a bit wasted. In a raid however, they hold a good place in them especially if there are many rogues or non tanking warriors.
Shammy heals in general are rather pathetic since their standard heals are rather mana-consuming unless you use Chain Heal, but since enhancement shammies lack in a strong mana pool (in comparasion to the other two specs), even Chain Heal is a bit of a dump on mana. And if you are in the healing duty as an enhancement shammy, then there's something wrong.
Rezzing is the job of the healer, not the DPSer, so really that isn't too prominent. Nice utility to have, but if the party or raid ends up at any point of the instance with all the tanks and healers dead and the DPS alive, then there is something wrong. The option to rez in a raid is only useful to lower downtime anyway.
Ah, reminds me of a crazy team my friends and I made. Voidwalker-specced Warlock as tank, Balance Druid as the healer, and a Protection-specced Paladin, Survival Hunter, and Discipline Priest as the DPS trio.
That was sooooo much fun.
