I spent a long time trying to explain to people that I really didn't care if it was a book or an action figure or whatever, I just love Doctor Who.

I'm having a similar experience this year trying to explain to prospective pressie buyers that I've almost no NewWho merchandise whatsoever, so they can feel free to buy me whatever takes their fancy if it's got the 'taxicab logo' on it. smile

Oh, good luck to all of you..

Unfortunately, even if I could possibly explain to half the people who want to know what I want for Christmas what Doctor Who is and why I love it.... the US isn't exactly all that great when it comes to DW merchandise. sweatdrop
(and the DVD sets are pretty expensive..)

All I've got is New Season 2 on DVD and three Target books from ages ago. heart

crying I didn't get anything who-related last christmas... and this christmas it looks like I'm getting driving lessons, so most likely nothing who related again.
Still, I'd love to get my hands on that old-style tardis key, or some original series who. Or even a shirt, since promoting geekyness would just be awesome. Though they took the one I wanted off cafepress sad

As for the new series/ christmas special... ... ... well who knows when Australia will be getting that sweatdrop

Not sure if I'll be getting any Who stuff this year. Usually my best mates end up getting me it (last year I got books, and a K-9 and Doctor).

Luckily, my birthday is just after Christmas (January 5) and I'm asking for Who stuff for that as well (last year I got a TARDIS phone flasher, and spent my birthday and Christmas money on the Series Two boxset).

Heh, I forgot to mention that I saved up and bought all that stuff myself. ><;
Used bookstores ftw. xD

Sadly, I have no access to online merch, since my family has no credit card (they can get annoying) and I'm not old enough.

Every year my mum's always pressing me to make her a list of what I want. I actually might do it this year. xD

But it'll probably be like:

'DW books
DW Season DVDS (1, 2, or 3)
A puppy'

The puppy I will name Theta Sigma, and he will be my puppy. >3 -has been planning the puppy thing for a while-

But...I'll probably not end up making a list, I feel bad when I ask for stuff. sweatdrop My mum knows about my obsession, so she might just buy me them from that. She's good with gifts.

For those of you who have access to the Previews Catalog through a comic shop or comic mail-order service, the November 2007 catalog has pre-order on a NEW DOCTOR WHO COMIC published by IDW!
There's also a lot of stuff in the Merchandise--Import section (pg 462-463), you can order the DWMonthly, and some months (not this one) you can order the books & other stuff.
Just wave one of these catalogs at folks when you want to show them your Christmas list! biggrin
Some comic sevices have the catalog online--M&M Comics has it all on their site (www.mmcomics.com).

Yeah, looks quite promising. Gary Russell's involved and, though I only very occasionally enjoy his writing, he's good in an editory/co-ordinatey way so should be able to get the comic nicely synched up with the show.

This does mean of course that between this, Doctor Who Magazine, Doctor Who Adventures and Doctor Who: Battles in Time there'll be four ongoing Tenth Doctor comic strips. Which might just be overkill.

And speaking of overkill, I see as a back-up they're reprinting The Iron Legion again. Must must be something like the sixth time it's been reprinted!

This is a quote directly from the ad on page 281 of the catalog:
IDW
The legendary Doctor Who is back, with the first-ever stories created exclusively for the US market.

So I guess we get this & the UK gets the others--except for specialty shop orders, I imagine. It does say this is a miniseries, not an ongoing series though. Wonder if good response would get it extended into a regular?

And as for the Iron Legion in print yet again... well, Dave Gibbons did do some of the best Who comics ever drawn! biggrin The last time I can recall it being widely distributed in the US (as in on the comic racks in regular stores) was waaaaaaaaay back in that comic Marvel used to do that was all short-series or one-shot stuff. Marvel Premiere, was it? I got that--it's one of the things that got me hooked on Who way back in the early 80's! I saw it before I finally got to see my first episodes!
