Luca held a piece of paper in his hand tightly, the letter he had gotten from Divinity saying his kid was ready for pick up. He was nervous and to be honest a little scared about going back to that place after what happened the last time, that man had terrified poor Luca.
He was fairly determined though and it only took him fifteen minutes of standing outside just staring at the building and shaking and debating with himself about whether or not he could just leave and come back some time later, before he worked up the nerve to enter, which he did so slowly and mumbled a quiet "Hello?"

Nikita looked up from his laptop as someone entered, and offereing a faint smile. The little boy was in the room as well.
"Hello, M-Mr Luca? I'm Nikita..."
This was one that Dmitriev must have met...and that would explain the mans nervous entry; Dmitriev had a way of terrifying guardians. Every guardian he met that had initially met Dmitriev seemed nervous at first.
"I sent the n-note."
At least Nikita was much less intimidating then Dmitriev. He was akin to Dmitriev, as a caterpillar was to a scorpian.
"And this is the ch-child.."

The little boy who would be, rather soon, named Janus had been keeping himself occupied while sitting and waiting. He was just sitting watching his tail as he made it swish back and forth. When Luca had entered her perked up and locked eyes on the man.
Luca was greatly relieved when he didn't see Dmitriev there and he relaxed almost right away. This other guy seem much more like a person Luca would like dealing with then Dmitriev, after all it was pretty clear Luca didn't have to worry about getting the crap beat out of him with Nikita.
Luca nodded to Nikita and mumbled another 'hello' before his attention was directed to the little boy in the room. He looked him over for a second knowing there was something a little different about him but not quite able to put his finger on it at first.
"Hello," he said with the best smile he could manage, trying his best to make a nice friendly impression on the boy. Of course this wouldn't matter in a moment when he opened his mouth again and messed it up.
It at last hit him what was different about the boy, it cause him to blink a few times and look back to Nikita. "He has a tail..." Luca said.
Yup he was going to make a great parent.

Nikita blinked at Janus' tail, then looked back at Luca. Yes, there was a tail; was it that unusual here? He'd seen quite a few people looking very strange...
Maybe it was only normal in certain crowds?
"W-well, yes. Some of the ch-children are very unique."
The blonde man was about to follow it up with a comment and pink or green hair, but he decided to wait a moment to see how Luca reacted. And to be completely honest, pink hair wasn't quite on the same playing field as a blue tail was.
But still. It was a cute kid. Everyone liked kids, right? Even if they had tails?

Luca wasn't sure what to say that wouldn't further stick his foot in his mouth. So he stood there, opening and closing his mouth resembling a fish in a way.
Janus frowned, what was wrong with his tail? He actually liked it, a lot. It was soft and entertaining, how could there be anything wrong with it? Nothing, there couldn't be anything wrong with it. So there must be something wrong with this guy. He looked at Nikita now and spoke, "Does he have to be the one to look after me?"

It was Nikita's turn to look like a grounded fish this time. He hadn't even considered that a guardian might want their kid after seeing him.
What was he supposed to do if Luca didn't want him? He didn't have another guardian set up!
"I...d-do you still want him?"
The blonde man was horrified at the thought of showing a boy to his supposed guardian, and then the man refusing to take the kid - while Janus didn't seem that upset with the idea, Nikita didn't really notice that. He was too busy panicking about how most children would react, without taking into account that Janus wasn't most children, and wasn't even attached to Luca yet.
As a nervous habit, he began playing with his bandages. While Nikita had been fairly calm initially, now he seemed to have no clue what to do.

"What? No!... I mean," Luca said nervously scratching the back of his head, "I didn't mean I didn't want him, I was just a little surprised and I uh..." he looked over to the little boy who was looking up at him rather unimpressed. "I'm sorry I didn't mean what I said."
He was trying desperately to fix what he had done but judging by the look on the boy's face it would take more then a quick apology. He felt so stupid about it now, he wasn't normally such a spaz but he had been nervous about this all day.
Janus just crossed his arms and let out a bit of a "hmph". It would seem that he was stuck with this guy.

It was an odd thing when an adult was more ready to forgive then a child: at hearing Luca's apology, Nikita relaxed, calming down. At least a little bit, anyway; he was never completely calm around people.
"I'm g-glad."
Not only would it mean trouble for him if Luca had refused, the poor kid wouldn't have his own guardian for some time. But that hadn't happened, so Nikita was content to push those possibilities away.
"You g-get to name him, of course, since he's your s-son."
Some of the guardians didn't realize that at first.

The reaction to the word son was the same for both the man and the child. They both made a look of distaste for a moment. Janus was still upset with Luca's dislike of his tail and Luca... well he never really wanted to be anyones father, this was like long term babysitting for him.
The name thing did take him by surprise, he hadn't come prepared for that. Names were imortant, at least that's what he had been told all his life. There was a reason his name meant 'Bringer of Light' and his sister's meant 'Dark Lady,' sure he didn't know the reason, his mother had never told them why, just that their name meant something.
Being at a loss for it himself he looked to the child, "Do you have any ideas for a name?"
The tiger boy opened his mouth to reply but closed it again quickly. He couldn't think of anything himself. He was just... himself, he had never thought about it in any other way so of course he hadn't thought of a name.
Luca bit his lip and thought for a moment. A name that could mean something for this boy... It took a moment before it came to him and then it was like a light going off in his head. "Janus? Do you like that, Jay for short even if you wanted."
The sylph thought for a second before nodding, "Alright."
Luca smiled, having picked a good name, the boy would be Janus, and that it had such a good meaning for being picked off the spot, 'God of Beginnings'. It fit quite well really.
