Edit: Here are some pictures finally!!
Kaleb and big brother EthanKaleb MatthewMy little monkeyFirst off sorry this took so long to post. We are having trouble with our internet and the stupid people won't be out to do anything until next Wednesday. This is the first time I have gotten a good enough connection to get online! But anyways on the the important stuff!!
Kaleb was born via repeat c-section at 4:55am on Wednesday Nov 7th weighting 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long.
We arrived at the hospital at about 7:30 am with my contractions timing about 3-5 mins apart though I wasn't really dialated any and was about 50% effaced. After settling in my contractions slowed and became pretty irregular. By then my dr was there and we decided that since things were looking favorable that we would try some pitocin to get things going again. At about 9 am we started all that. Things moved pretty slowly still but labor did pick back up. By 4pm he decided he should break my water. Well that certainly got the contractions rolling. By 6pm I was begging for the epidural they were so fast and painful. Unfortunatly though they didn't seem to be very effective. Kaleb's head was not dropping and I was still dialating pretty slowly. After the epidural I just tried to rest as much as I could but I had a spot on my lower right side (right by my hip) that the epidural did not touch and was still in a ton of pain in just that spot. Around 3am I was finally ready to start pushing...though Kaleb's head was still pretty high. My dr decided he would try and use the vacuum to get his head lower while I pushed. We were still pretty hopeful that that would work and I would successfully VBAC. I pushed with all my might for a little over on hour but his head was still not budging and I was exhausted. My dr was still willing to try but I had nothing left and consented to the c-section. By 4:55am they pulled Kaleb out it took a nerve racking 10-15 seconds to get him breathing and crying but once he did, man did he scream!
The c-section revealed that the reason I still had so much pain in the lower abdomon was because my uterus had healed to the inside of my abdominal wall from the last section. They did fix that while they were in there. We also discovered that the reason both Kaleb and Ethan got stuck is because the opening in my pelvis is too small to fit the head through (not to mention Kaleb had a 15inch head). So sadly it looks like any future children will end up being c-sections as well even though my dr. said the was he stitched everything up would allow me to try for a VBAC again though he is doubtful the outcome will be any different.
We both come home Saturday and both doing well. I do find I am bouncing back from this c-section a lot faster then the first. Besides some jaundice and some small injuries from the vacuum Kaleb is doing great. He is a great nurser and only lost 6oz from his birthweight. As soon as I have a more stable internet connection I will post pictures of him. We have a ton already! Well someone is going to be ready to eat so I am off.
