Father thought he was so clever. Kraken didn't know what he'd done, but it was obvious her deaf alpha had done something to get rid of Rosto. Even Meskeet's little festering relatives weren't around anymore. Aside from Malexxi and Lucas, but they were more her blood than Meskeet's.

None the less, Kraken was in a foul mood.

Amoy was gone, driven off undoubtably by their parent's idiocracy. But why hadn't he told her he was leaving? Not a single good-bye? Never mind that he was deaf too, that still wasn't an excuse. She was his sister damnit, didn't that count for anything anymore?

Prowling the pack boundaries was boring. Perhaps because she couldn't actually see anything, but mainly because there was nothing to see. A blind wolf was not a dead wolf. Even a deaf wolf could last, as was shown by their pack. All an individual needed was smell, the first sense used immediately after birth.

And what a curious thing smell was. Everything had a different smell. Worn, beaten, dead or alive, all things carried a scent, that could remain nearly always untainted when it came to the core source of scent. A tree would always smell the same. A wolf, too, kept his scent.

Sitting in the dark corner beneath a tree Keegan watched Kraken. Kraken would not find him and he was sure of it. The scents of the area around him kept from her nose. As for her ears and eyes, well, they would not be much of a threat to him. How long would he have to wait here and watch her? An unbearable wait and it seemed that it might last longer.

This did not look promising. Patience was not one of his virtues and he was not very comfortable. If she kept moving like this he might have to find somewhere else to sit.

Now would be the best time. While the scents guarded him in her blindspot.

With a huff Kraken stood staring off into the darkness of the trees. She wasn't seeing, she was thinking, so it didn't really matter where she looked. The beta was getting hungry. How long would she have to wait for someone to bring her food?

Too long.

Especially with Lestat gone. At least with him she could weasel out a meal or two. Of course, she could always ask Xipetotec. But then she would look weak and insignificant. And as a princess, she was most certainly neither of those.

No, she would try to hunt. It would be difficult, but it couldn't be impossible.

As a growl escaped her stomach, the red female's ears went flat at how lonesome her day had become.

Stupid males running off and leaving her behind.

Like the crack of a whip Keegan's attention went back to Kraken. She seemed to be looking at the trees and he halted any thoughts of moving. It would be dangerous at the present moment. He was not afraid of her but of anyone who could be with her. The area had many trees and each one could hold a hiding place for a hungry pack.

He surveyed the area around her and each noise made his fur stand. He was not used to paranoia, especially from a blind female. He did not want to be surprised if something happened. He had to have the upperhand.

A grin came to his face and the oddest thought came to his mind.
This is going to be fun.

As the joy of stalking hit him his foot seemed to act on its own, moving forward, and Keegan felt his heart race. He was sure she would not hear him if he got closer.

It was a well known fact that if you took away one sense, all the others got sharper. Such could be explained by the idea that the other senses were used more, and thusly adapted to being of greater quality. For Kraken, this rang true. Though she could not see, her sense of smell and hearing were exquisite.

In this terrain, at this point in time, her sense of smell was frankly useless. And so, she relied most heavily upon her ears. Every drop of water from a leap sunk into her ears, the few sounds made in the dark forest lay stiffly around the tips of her ears, and the small sound of sucking mud as paws worked in and out of it coiled around her head.

Indeed Keegan could have been a formidable enemy, but arogance got the best of many a great man.

In much the same fashion as the flip of a switch, Kraken's head wrenched around and she leaped with all her might and muscles straight for the hidden body of a blue jay colored male. With a snarl her tension easily showed just how unwelcomed his company was.

Being attacked was not something new to Keegan however being as surprised as he was his thoughts escaped him as the female jumped at him. In any other situation he would have seen this attack coming. However his arrogance dared him to move from his hiding spot and his paranoia kept his mind on the environment. Stupid move.

If he ran his pride would be hurt. The only thing to do would be to fight for his life. The one thing he really did not want to do. He had not come for a fight and in this terrain, without the upperhand, he could barely do anything. He would not have the first strike. He had to hope he had the last.

All he could do now was watch as she came at him in a snarl.

Fights were one of the things Kraken was rather good at. Once she found her target, she was usually rather damn good at eliminating it. Normally, she would have gotten right in and started tearing at whatever wolf she was assaulting, but because it was Keegan...

Pinning the male down beneath her, Kraken didn't mind using her weight to keep him down. She wasn't a fat wolf, but she made sure to keep a good percentage of muscle mass. Face twisting into a smile Kraken watched blindly her victims face.

"Well well, who would have guessed Keegan would be a Peeping Tom? What can I do for you, Killer? You know father won't be happy to catch you here."

Female wolves, the most unpredictable creatures alive. Keegan did not like to be pinned down but to be addressed in such a manner was unheard of for him. Well, unheard from anyone except Kraken. She was different to him, in more ways than one.

"A Peeping Tom? Such an insult Kraken. I am no killer and no perv and if you would kindly get off of me I would gladly answer you."

A big grin, unusual to his character, formed upon his face. What difference did it make if she meant harm or not? Smiling in the face of danger, a great way to go if her father came.

"Now."

"But it's such a fun position to be in. One I could get you used to."

Sliding slowly off of the male, not minding if she rubbed against him any, the capable she-wolf climbed out of his little hidden hole. Flicking her tail she paid no attention to the dirt that had collected on her paws and legs. And why would she? It made no difference to her.

With a sway of her hips she settled down facing his scent. A wicked grin on her face for the one male she hadn't yet conquered.

"What can I do for you stud?"

Glad to be off the ground Keegan sprang up on to his feet and looked at Kraken as she sat down. She seemed overconfident and he decided to use that against her. Play her for a while, get what he wants, and leave. Simple.

"Oh you know looking for siblings and what not."

Matching her grin he decided to sit down across from her. Keep himself on her level.

"Tell me, where is your father? Where is your pack?"

Get the information and go. Simple.

Either Keegan wasn't as smart as she had assumed he was, or this was all a dumb joke. Where were they?

"Where they've always been. What's wrong with you?"

As to his siblings, she could only assume they were all with him or Lestat. Well, at the ones that had been around to begin with at least. She'd been given the impression that a few other, insignificant ones existed somewhere else. But if Keegan wanted them, she was sure he wouldn't have to look too hard to find them.

"Why the sudden interest?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 13, 2007 5:46 am

Keegan grinned at her question. Why the sudden interest? As if she did not know. No wolf wanted to be ambushed and Keegan did not plan on being surprised again.

"Oh no reason."

He knew he was safe now. She probably thought him to have lost his mind and thus gave away that they were alone. The best situation for an unwelcomed wolf. But what now? He did not see anymore reason to pursue conversation with her and he did not want to waste time. She did not have what he wanted.
