Opeth - the Swedish gods of metal - what do you think of them?
To me, they're the best metal band right now and have been for several years . To me they have only impressed me with their musicianship - they are the heaviest when they want to be, aren't afraid of clean, acoustic ballads even within songs that lesser bands wouldn't have tried to do so with. While the guitar work isn't as high-caliber as some other bands are and strive for, Opeth's guitarists are not only capable of difficult material (as made evidence by their sometimes difficult riff-work), but are also very capable when it comes to writing their music as well; they know what they're doing. The vocals, I think, are definitely a very interesting aspect of the music, as well. I haven't heard such a perfect union between death metal-style and clean vocals yet.
They have yet to disappoint me.

Sir, please don't bump. Ever.
But there are many Opeth threads and each one that appears I remind that Opeth is my favorite. :3 I think they're the most talented group of individuals I've ever seen. :3

i like them....
have several of their albums and i like them a lot...
would not call them my favourite or extremely good though
they are indeed unique in the metal world...but sometimes i must admit they have too many repeated pieces in their songs...
and i have yet to listen to their newest album watershed...
that is supposed to be the most technical album of all...and i am very curious
a friend of me allready said he really liked it

They've really gone downhill over the last 8 years or so. Ghost Reveries was half good, half weak and Watershed didn't even manage that. sad
...and I loved their older stuff.
