Okay, the DM was predictably anti-necromancy, and isn't backpedaling on the decision, so I'm just going to make an enchanter instead. There's just something fun about DC = 23+spell level at level eight, and 24+ once you take your level nine feat... Right now I'm asking him how he'll be ruling on Charm Person vs. Suggestion (i.e. will Charm make them drop their allies like hot rocks and rush to my side to protect me?).

Too bad it wouldn't do much good to steal your character, Amp. We already got a warmage quite capable of taking care of that. With an Enchanter, I can do anything. mrgreen "What? We need a rogue? Summon a Babau and I'll Charm Monster it." "We need a tank? Call an Efreeti and I'll Charm Monster it." Oh, I could develop quite the entourage... Me loves charm spells with 1 day/level duration.

That sounds devious! though you do have the off chance of the monsters rolling a nat 20 for there DC save vs the charm...

"Oh crap... now we have fight these guys AND the elemental that I just pissed off..."

If you want Minons... make a High chrasmatic Sorcerer with leadership razz

And if your DM squalshes that, prestige him into the Mystic Thurge and get monster legitly wink

You know, I'm starting to wonder why I hang out with these guys... Sure, the food is good, but I seem to be getting hosed an awful lot. Not to mention I kind of take exception to the lazy and lousy way the DM introduced my character to the party (prisoner of trologdytes they told the party to take away after the party successfully bartered away some bulette hides).

Seriously, my character (fort save +5) gets poisoned in his sleep by a DC 24 poison. Pretty easily fails both primary and secondary, getting dropped to -1 strength by the Purple Worm poison, then gets killed at the assassin's leisure. The two problems with that are: 1) Wouldn't you say it would have been fair for my character to wake up in a cold sweat after the initial 1d6 strength damage, rather than sleeping soundly waiting for the 2d6 secondary to hit a minute later? 2) Where was the poison/weapon *hidden*? I have very good reason to believe that the assassin was naked for quite some time, while in close proximity to my character. rofl

And then after my character is raised from the dead the DM decides that Fey are all of a sudden immune to enchantment. My character is an enchanter. An enchanter with Fey heritage. An enchanter with Fey heritage with a +9 to Knowledge (Nature) checks (not the best, but not too shabby either). An enchanter with Fey heritage with a +9 to Knowledge (Nature) checks who knows he's going to fight Fey. Don't you think he'd remember that little gem before he went to fight the Fey? And no, the Enchantment immunity wasn't in the Redcap description either, I checked. The DM acted like the Enchantment immunity was obvious (and my character rolled a 1 on his Knowledge (Arcana) check and still remembered), so you'd think if the DM was going to pull something STUPID and rulebending on me he'd at least warn me BEFORE I memorized my spells. Oh well, my familiar smacked his big bad fey with a Shivering Touch, but aside from that the only productive thing he did was caste Haste on half of the druid's summons and his (my enchanter's) troll minion.

Not to mention the other small things. The Warmage's edge ability is allowed to work on his Reserve feat (edge ability increases damage on spells only, not supernatural abilities like reserve feats), bumping the average damage from 14 to 20. The Abjurant Champion's meager BaB requirement was reduced for his wife, and also improves Mage Armor (he insists he's done these changes before, and claims that there's some Sorcerer spell you can't cast if the BaB requirement is +5, which is a load of crap). The druid gets to keep his overpowered +2 CR template for his summons and I still haven't bothered telling the DM that the Ring of the Beast doesn't work on your highest-level summon spell because I know he'll disagree with me. About the only thing fudged moderately in my favor was the -1 CL on Transmutation spells being taken off of Shadow Weave Magic, and only because the DM took away the +1 to Necromancy DCs from it and I asked if the Transmutation penalty could be dropped too. And considering that the only thing of interest that does for me is give me one more hour on Rope Trick... I'll take my Necromancy DC back, please.

I really feel like the only reason I keep going is because I'm hoping it'll get better. It's been way downhill for the two sessions I brought in my Enchanter, compared to the two I had my Artificer for. I didn't think the DM was playing favorites at first, but now... Well he hasn't tried to screw me over on the Troll minion like I was afraid he would, but I think it's more of the lack of rules being bent my way where it's really starting to show (and then the arbitrary getting owned that I complained about at the top of the post; he was completely surprised when I pulled Shivering Touch on the 20 HD Redcap we were fighting). The least he could have done was let my Enchanter variant's Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive as class skills feature carry over into my Master Specialist class, but he never offered that even when I mentioned their not being class skills as annoying.

Hmm...sounds like you got stuck with an Utz. I've played under them before; not fun. My suggestion: Stage a coup d'etat in which you summarily drive the DM from the gaming table and insinuate yourself in his place. Trust me, it's for the best. The peasants will thank you for it later.

ah yes.... power wizard smile

I should post my Dwarf Wizard(Evoker)3/Psion(Kenetisist)3/Cerebremancer1

That guy is a pure damage dealing cannon.... with weapon focus (ray), Ray specialization(+2/dice for all ray spells/powers)... its ever so brutal....

rofl, I remember when you made that guy, Remember I told you to name him McNuke? Did I ever show you my char build for my "Rhinestone Cowboy"?
A Dwarf Psion crystal master (he had like 7 psicrystals at lvl 12) with a Dwarven Flintlock pistol that rode around on a warbeast Pony?
