Is not abortion. neutral

Can anyone please try to explain in a logical fashion how in the hell pro lifers and anti choicers do not understand that? because I can't understand how they don't.

Yes, we don't want abortions.
Nobody asks for abortions for Christmas, or for their birthdays.
You don't think about getting an abortion when you dream about hitting the lottery. Or plan on visiting a clinic on your next vacation.

There is this perceived notion that we who want the legality of abortion automatically view and have abortions like they are just a walk in the park.
This is entirely untrue.

What women want is change.
Women want to be able to have a career and a family.
To be equal to men in the eyes of society.
To be able to be pregnant and not viewed as a slut or other derogatory term.
To be helped, not hampered during pregnancy. Economically and emotionally.
To have sexual freedom.

This is only a short list so far, the real list is much bigger. Let's try to come up with things that women really want -
because it's not abortion.

To people who are pro-life a baby is as real as if it were sitting in front of you from the moment of conception. Each of those opportunities should come to fruition. I can honestly respect that. Because it is real. It might just be a thing with no heartbeat, no body, no anything at that moment. But in truth I can respect that. I can't respect someone that would call me a baby killer. Or someone that will do horrible things to others for choosing to have an abortion. What pro-lifers tend to view it as is they don't agree with the right to have an abortion. Because the baby is as real as night and day, who has the right to take another life? I don't have the right to kill you. so what gives you the right to kill a baby? Of course, their POV is usually religiously based, and many pro-lifers are in fact women. It also falls in line with the conservative thoughts. Much like with gay marriage (which I fully support) if we allow abortion what will be allowed next?

Of course no women would like to actively seek getting pregnant because "oh gee" having an abortion sounds like fun. We want equal rights. We want to be treated as human beings with knowledge and accessibility of health and medical that is available to our male counterparts. We want the ability to walk with our heads held high because we know that while we may have had to make one of the toughest decisions in our life, we know it was for the best for ALL. We want to know that if we have to wal kinto a clinic for whatever the reason, we wont be turned away, looked down upon or shunned for questions and demanding an honest answer.

To me being pro-choice isn't about demanding the right to have an abortion. It isn't about even necessarily agreeing with abortion. It's about the equality and the right for a women to choose what science has made available.

We don't want abortion in the same way we don't want to have teeth pulled. It's something we'd REALLY like to avoid if at all possible. That's why many of us take such precautions to prevent the need for it.

We still NEED it as an option if something goes wrong,though.

I don't understand that 'logic' *short* either. Getting pregnant would be a major problem for me, simply because it's an issue of finding the money to pay for it. I don't just have $300+ lying around. I'm sure I could get it if I really needed it, but it's a b***h to have to figure that all out. Not to mention what will happen to me mentally if I even got a positive pregnancy test. It's not something I want to go through, ever.
