Give me your ideas to better improve the guild. I'll definitely be checking them out. I want your thoughts, and if I was rich, I'd pay a penny for each and every single one of them, but thats not going to happen now is it. domokun

Oooh, an idea thread. Capital, capital. I have a couple, for a race in fact, but I don't have time to elaborate yet.
I was thinking though, as I'm working my way through the character profile thread, if we can't have a running tally or head count or something of who has what power as far as KoMs (and possibly magics/groups) go. Then we wouldn't end up with seventeen metal KoM people (which is supposed to be rare) or some such.

To work on that subject, why not have designated people (i.e. your friends and those hand selected) to lead various factions, guilds, and groups of those various KoM in order to keep them organized and split apart. Granted, this is simply for organization standing and perhaps even ranking within those classes themselves. I don't think it would work out if two people of the same class fight, and continually dupe the others ability. If I send a gust of wind at another wind user, and they send it back, we'll have this entirely pointless battle while the two stubborn wind people play with the same gust. But, since there would no doubt be a difference in skill between each individual, perhaps that should be taken into account.

Ha! Very valid points indeed, but note that in every role-play there can only be one of each KOM. The character forum there is only for memorable characters for whom most people would like to play with. So in short...problem solved...heh.

We need lore.
Something like a combination of The Brothers Grimm and Greek Mythology. We need some epic heroes, some baby-eating villains, and some completely implausible parables that Gian parents can tell to their wide-eyed children.
I've created a "Legends and Lore" thread on the main page specifically for this purpose. We're creating a world from scratch--it needs a little culture.
The Legends and Lore thread is open for all members of KoM. Just follow the rules, and post away. It is not an OOC thread, so please avoid using it for discussions or comments, even if they're on topic. We have an OOC thread for that kind of thing.
Happy writing, future Loremasters!

I also think Lore is a good idea, but not that kind of lore. There are all kinds of legends and fairtales about different races having certain 'unique' abilities. Regardless of a what a being is skilled at or not, they should have the natural abilities of their race. It does happen, a little, but not quite as out there as it should be. The only race I can think of that wouldn't have the lore would be humans, unless other races can't do something they can, lol. That's my pointless rambling for the day.

I just realized something kind of big. There is an origins...but no real religion, unless I missed in my scanning. It's great to worship one of the hot chics of divine doom and all...but after so many years there would be schizms and factions formed within the religions, along with a combination of minor, or the two major ones. Not everyone would be for one or the other, some would be for both. There could be multiple groups under each trying to promote different aspects and being at complete odds with eachother. Basically, religion, regardless of how pointless is may be, is a major driving force behind the masses; a powerful rhetorical tool for politics. So...are there any? What are there views? Or, would people just go with the factions and disregaurd the major religions entirely? ^_^;

In that matter, I could so play a religious order.
I've even got one in mind that I thought up long ago.
Percius shall come again!
Hell, that could turn into a storyline arc.

I created a religious-type group: Helios Druidia. They worship the sun as if it were a god, and practice healing magics.
Of course, the Dark Hand and the Covenant could technically be considered religious groups, as they are trying to resurrect Salem.

Being a gamemaster myself, I humbly suggest the following:
1. An instruction thread for new members
Heck. This is a big roleplay (in scale). Newly recruited members (like me) will feel . . . disoriented with everything. What should I do? Where should I begin? Where is the farking roleplay? How do I create a character? How do I make sure that the character is acceptable?
Actually, the last two questions brings us to my second suggestion:
2. Have a place for character creation
This place, be it a subforum or just a thread*, would allow roleplayers a chance to 'test-run' his/her character. Here, the characters can be posted, refined, suggested upon, criticized, censored, whatever.
*I prefer a separate subforum, where each roleplayer start a thread, opening himself/herself for suggestions. Then when the character has been settled upon, the thread can be closed by the Captain / Vice Captain / Mods / whathaveyous.
Now a character that suddenly erupt/come into being/genecized/pop onto the stage will surely cause severe disruption in roleplaying. This 'place of creation' can also serve as a place to discuss character insertion, e.g. a) what faction the character would be most suitable in, b) where the character should reside or start roleplaying, c) what situation(s) should the character first face as the character is inserted, etc.
=====
Well, that's my 4 cents smile
And please forgive me my mistakes, for I am just a new member.

I feel like we had some of the things that the good Doctor is talking about, but they have either been moved, changed, or outdated. There is a suggestions forum that does contain stuff that new players could use. We could rename it as the New Player subforum and add a few things that are more explanatory of what's going on here.
I feel like with the movement and changes in the subforum list and in the main forum, we have a lot of things that are just scattered about willy nilly and not very organized.
Originally the OOC was called Character Discussion, and was pretty much used exactly for the Doc's second suggestion. Nobody used it very much though, so it got changed.

I've already set my crew on that part, Hoozie. smile I liked the "How do I start" thread, and you're right... all the shuffling about has made things a bit confusing. Reorganization is one of the things we'll be tackling.

@Wahoozerman: This is just a guess, but I think the reason why people don't use the chardev place as it should, is perhaps because they don't know that such place exists.
If we have a "How do I start" thread, we can explicitly inform people of such place, and thus they will visit that place, and (hopefully) use it more actively/effectively.
That said... where should I post my character profile then? So that I'll get input on whether my character fits with the rest of the Gi-verse smile
