Life was good to the growing tri-colored female pup. She was almost to her teenage season and living in a pack with her family and others made life swell. Licking her coat clean the little pretty looked around with golden orbs.

Who would have thought that this little miss priss could be a wonderful ambusher and really hyperactive. Looking around the young pre-teen orange and black face tilted about. The ivory that showed up was only on her front paws and the snip above her nose. Shaking her head the young pup stood up.

Gleaming coat she walked about, Ralphina's long silken tail swayed behind her and she peered into the dark trees that bordered the pack's territory. Yes she was still a child, but not as depended on her parents as she use to be. Or that clingy to her brothers, but she still loved everyone, the femme just wanted to wander about a bit before returning to her father's protective shadow.

"Oh, there has to be something fun out here!" she exclaimed with a loud sigh and a preMadonna roll of her eyes.

Hop. Flop. Stop.

Zachary wasn't used to other wolves. And he wasn't used to play. But he was starting to figure, that if he avoided other wolves, he could start to figure out how this play stuff went.

Exploring, he could understand. It was the thrill of the unknown. It was quiet, and self-chosen. So, explore he did. As he ventured around his packlands he realized that no matter how far he went, he'd still only be going somewhere someone else had been before. His only option? To leave, and conquere the lands beyond.

That didn't sound too hard.

Had the small dark pup with floppy hair been less shy perhaps he'd have been scared by being alone in this unclaimed land, but as it was, Zachary was able to focus on other things to worry about.

Like how to be a puppy as well as his siblings did. Not one to volunteer to play, he couldn't help but wonder if he was missing out on something grand.

Hoping to figure that out, he'd begun to hop. Finding some pleasure in it, he even smiled. A rare thing. As someone's voice met his ears he froze in mid hop and fell sprawled onto the ground.

Who was that?!

With only a brief look back over her small shoulder, to make sure her father wasn't around, the little petite she-wolf moved out of the pack territory. The only one that she would miss on this outing would be her partner in crime and the assisted boost of energy that made the young girl over boiling hyperactive. So much so that her calmer brothers seemed to hate about the two girls.

Prancing through the trees her ears quirked at the sound of something hitting the ground. Coiling back her head like a surprised animal the black ears swiveled about and her tail stayed swaying back and forth. Having had lived in bear country, or what seemed to be, she had learned as a young pup what noises to register, and the noise that had been muffled by the forest wasn't a big concern.

With a shake of her head and raising her chin up again, the little tricolored girl moved forward towards more interesting land. All that the coast her new pack lived near was salty air, swimming, fishing and gull killing. She no longer could pounce on her brothers for the two boys had dislodged themselves really of the family group, but that wasn't anything important.

Shaking her head and taking off in a running circle, Rally zig zagging through the trees and crouching low. She imagined she was hunting a large moose that was hiding behind a bunch of thickets. Lowering herself to the ground and wiggling her long tail behind her, Rally was on her haunches and ready to pounce. With two rocks back on her paws, the tricolored pre-teen soared into a bush and snatched at the branches with her sharp puppy fangs.

Zachary was confused, and, perhaps, curious?

More noises came from the trees. Though he kept himself distant from most things, he knew it couldn't last forever. The pup was exploring. At this point in time, it was he who was in charge. Not something else.

Drawing himself up and glancing around, with a puffed out chest and alert eyes the male ventured slowly and cautiously forward.

He was a man. He wasn't afraid of some silly little noise.

Courage building, his body began to grow lax--until something came flying into a bush beside him.

"Ahh!!!"

With a cry, he dropped to the ground and shut his eyes, the image of something bright orange, black, and white still in his mind.

Sliding through the prickly branches, Rally kept her jaws locked like her father had taught his girls to do. However, with all of her forward momentum she popped out on the other side of the bush holding the branches tightly clamped together. With a playful growl she tugged on the limbs tossing her head wildly from side to side.

"Ahmah grwanna rith 'oud apawrt," she growled talking to her imaginary advisory, before spotting the dark mound of oddly set up fur. Puckering up her wood and vegetation filled mouth to where the limbs were bending back out.

The thistle was spat out, she hadn't seen the other wolf at all, well up to that moment. In fact, his little scream she had imagined came from the dying 'moose' bush.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't see you," she quickly stated still working her jaws to be rid her teeth of all the leaves. Though being the lupa that she was, Rally quickly turned her tone and her tail began to wag welcomingly.

"I'm Rally! Who are you are? Are you from the same pack as my family? Cause if you are I haven't meet anyone besides my lazy and wimpy brothers or my sister, who is really really cool," yes, Ralphina was talking a mile a minute and she had started to bounce around the other. She had already figured that this stranger was a male and possibly not from her pack, but it didn't matter anyways. She had already spoke and words couldn't been taken away.

Words couldn't seem to come fast enough for the bouncy female before him, but for the dark brown male no words would come at all. It was simply, shock.

The way with which her energy had seemed to simply appear had greatly surprised him, and he found himself dazed at how quickly she had spoken. Had he even heard everything she had said? Rally. You are? Pack. My family. Haven't anyone. Brothers. Cool. Um, wow. How would he talk to this girl?

It wasn't just her speed that intimidated him, but also the fact she was, well, a girl. He hadn't reached the point in his life where he was particularly interested in girls, but he had realized already that they were a mysterious group of beings.

"Um. I'm. I'm, Zachary." he chirped uncertainly. Rally, that was her name. Should he say he was glad to meet her? Was he?

"I don't know. I don't know who's pack I'm in. Is my mommy in your family's pack? Or my daddy?"

Tilting her head, it surprised her that this male wasn't quick on his replies. Waiting for him to reply, her over energy self moved to the side to look at the other named, Zachary. Nope, he didn't smell like her packmate, but did he say something about his parents not being in the same pack.

Righting her head the black ears quirked. "Your parents aren't together? They live in different packs?" That thought was curious to her. Never in her life time could she see her father and mother not living together. That thought made her think of the possibility for her father though. Rome was alot stronger then her mom.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 12, 2007 7:11 pm

Aren't together? Was that even possible? The pup wasn't sure. Certainly, his mother was spending more and more time away, claiming she was looking for someone. But had she left entirely?

Possibly. But he was certain she would have taken him with her.

"No, wait. I think they're together." Could he be so sure?

"But I don't know. Mommy doesn't come back a whole lot. Maybe she's in your pack? Or someone else's?"

He hoped not. Because then she wouldn't be with him, or his siblings, or his father. And gosh darnnit, he liked all of them.

"Can mothers be in different packs than fathers?"

Rally looked at Zachary, knowing a distant mother was something she could cope with and share, if she could calm down. Wagging her tail she just shrugged her shoulder, the young femme had known nothing of a single parent or abandonment life. Yes her mother was mental, but her father was a mountain and supportive of his daughters at least.

"I don't know. She could be, you would have to speak with one of the older wolves in my pack to find out," Rally suggested still wagging her tail insanely. It was nice to see someone outside of her family, even if they were weird with their long fur on the top of their head.

Though her tail froze at the question about mothers in different packs, "I... don't... know."

Zachary sat up and looked down at the ground in thought. He wasn't bothered by being alone, but that didn't give mommy an excuse to leave. Who would be his friend?

"That's alright, I don't really like talking to adults."

Shrugging his shoulders he looked shyly up at the female pup. "I'm Zachary. What's your name?"

He felt a little bad he'd asked a question she didn't know the answer to, he knew those kinds of questions weren't always welcomed.

Unlike her mother, Rally didn't like to look at the negative things in life or dwell on them for too long. Her tail picked back up on the high paced wagging.

"Suit yourself," she stated, talking to others wasn't something this young femme had clearly learned. Even if they were strangers, heck she might have even been insane enough to talk to a walking corpse...if such a thing truly existed.

Raising her head up and giving a small laugh with a smile, the little petite chuckled out, "I heard you announce your name the first time Zachary, but in case you couldn't hear among my fasted pace speech, I'm Ralphina. However my family calls me Rally." She extended her paw and still ogled at the others oddly long crown fur. Never before had she spied another with such long fur on their head.

If Zachary hadn't been so dark his face would have been visably red. Not only had his one attempt at being brave been shot down, but he was the single cause of it. Of course she'd already said her name. Why was he getting so jumbled up?

"Rally. What're you doing out here?"

It wasn't necessarily polite to ask, but he wanted to change the subject. She seemed confident enough in herself, maybe she would have room in whatever she was doing for him too?

This male made her chuckle like her brothers never did, even if she had them pinned down. Well that was the old days, when they were around. Looking up at the top of the bush she had leaped through, and like her father did, she trained one ear on the one closest to her.

Turning her face back around to face Zachary, the happy smile never faded from her maw. "Playing! Exploring! Having fun!" she seemed to say bouncing on her paws. Turning around in a small circle, and still wagging her tail, as if it could fly her to the moon and back, she stopped sideways.

"Would you like to join me on the exploration of these lands?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 12, 2007 9:46 pm

Having fun? That could be accomplished without laying out plans? Or even by yourself? How? How was that possible? Zachary had studied his siblings, he'd watched them carefully. No matter how hard he planned, he still didn't have fun. How could she do that so easily?

It was an offer he couldn't refuse. "Me? Sure, I can try."

There was some doubt in his face, but he was definately eager to try. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to go out exploring today after all. Standing up, his hair flopped in his face and he flicked his head a little to move it out of his eyes. A smile even crept to his face.

He was going to have fun!

Her golden orbs had already been looking around, she was looking for any place that could lead into a fun, and possible dangerous, adventure. Lowering her head, like she had seen her father do hundreds of time heading into the forest, the orange, black and white femme walked around the darker male.

Turning her face to look at him, Rally had remembered it was polite to find out what others liked to do before dragging them off into a bear's den, though she never had been able to get that close to one with her father around, and bears didn't live around this territory.

"Before taking off into the unknown," she said this like a narrator for the 'Twilight Zone'. "What are some of the things you like to do? After all your a boy, and I figured you might be like my brothers in the fun category." BORING! she wanted to shout the last word, but decided against it.

"After all," her head turned back towards the forest behind them, "there are several areas to explore here. There is the coast and cliffs, dens and caves in the woods. But do you have anything in mind to explore or is there anything you would like to avoid?" Her voice hinted at the idea of some larger predators unknown to this lands and having used up all of her will to stay still.

She started to prance about again, Rally's imagination would one day get her into a lot of trouble. Or at least that was the concern most had for her and Shelby.
