On December 08, 2004 @ 1:55 am I posted the following into my gaian journal... since it is rp-ish, I feel it should go here... as a sort of introduction of sorts. I know it isn't much compared with some things you will see[read] in other journals, and maybe even here... but it very well captures the spirit of enthusiasm with which I have embraced the fostering of this dear pard... I can only hope things will continue as pleasantly as they began...

I became the proud foster parent of a very special pard this evening, what follows is a conversation/rp on msn between Dazza and myself with our eggs... enjoy ^.^
Kiss Shining: *Places pard Egg by Anna's* Lets get them aquinted!
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -smiles- Good idea!
Kiss Shining: *giggles softly*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -sits down beside them smiling brightly- wow
Kiss Shining: *Sits down on the other side of them gently running a hand over her egg* Wow indeed...
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -smiles up at Dazza her eyes shining with unshead tears- I still can't believe it... -gently brushing her fingertips across her egg-
Kiss Shining: I know... thies are going to be very speical Pards... *nods slowly with a determined and knowing look on her face*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: Yeah they are -she nods softly turning to look back at the special eggs and sighs softly, happily- very very special Pards indeed...
Kiss Shining: *giggles softly* Oh! Basket! Could you get some blankets Anna...? *shiftes to stand and run off to search for two baskets*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: Blankets? -she ponders for but a moment- Oh my god, to help keep them warm... Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have a couple over here. -she looks at the eggs hesitantly- How bout I stay here with them till you get back with the baskets, and then I will go get the blankets? That way they aren't alone...
Kiss Shining: *Nods even though Anna can't see it from the other room she's in* Good point! *She calls back. It takes her a few minuts but finely she returns holding two oval baskets. She holds them up for Anna to see as she heads over to the eggs* Think thies are good enough?
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -she had shifted when Dazza left the room so that she could better protect both of the eggs, her fingers of one hand lightly touching Dazza's egg in order to assure the pard inside that it wasn't alone while the other hand gently stroked her own egg. she giggles softly hearing Dzza calling out from the other room and looks up to see the baskest as she enters the room- Oooh yeah, those should be perfect! -nods eagerly- I think the blankets I have should work wonderfully with them as well.
Kiss Shining: Dazza grins putting the baskets down besides the eggs befor shifting to sit down again smiling lovingly at the eggs* Okay. Can you get them? I'll take care of the eggs*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -Anna stands up, carefull not to disturbe the eggs as she was snuggled up quite close to them- Yeah, I think I know right where they are... of course with my luck I put them up so I would know where they are and of course they won't be there -she chews her lip gently- Yeah, I'm almost posotive I know where they are. -she heads out of the room and starts humming softly toherself-
Kiss Shining: *Giggles softly at Anna's little rambeling about the blankets befor she shiftes closer to the eggs and starts humming softly. She figures the sound sounds would be just as comforting as touching... In the end though she can't keep her hands off her egg and starts stroking it gently... a moment after she's stroking Anna's egg too not wanting it to get jealous*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -still humming she goes to the linnen closet and tries to see up on the top shelf... of course she is too short, so she stands back a few steps and looks- Ah ha! -standing as close to the shelves as possible she stands on tiptoe and reaches as high as she can using a lower shelf for balance trying to reach what she hopes are the two blankets she is looking for- can't... quite... reach... -each word strained as she tries harder and harder to stretch enough t reach them.- Finally! -rocking back down onher heels she tugs down the two blankets... along with half a dozen others and the top shelf- Ack!! -scrambliong trying not to get hurt she calls out to Dazza- I'm okay!
Kiss Shining: *Humming quietly to the eggs she is quite startled to hear Anna's yelp from the other room. She's just about to call out and ask when Anna say's she's okay. She still frowns slightly though while petting the eggs reasuringly.* Need any help...? *She askes insted*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -mumbling lightly under her breath as she struggles to get the shelf back up, a pool of blankets around her feet, she looks over her should towards the other room- No no, I got it... Thanks thought! -once she manages to get the shelf back up she tosses all the blankets back up there but the two she was wanting- hehe gottcha now -she giggles and closes the closet then walks back in the room with Dazza and the eggs holding up the two blankets triuphantly- Found em! -she grins-
Kiss Shining: Okay! *She calls back befor setting to humming to the eggs again* She's okay. No worries... *She reasures the two tilting her head slightly. She looks up when Anna returns in to the room.* They fought back...? *She grins reaching out for one of the blankets as she shiftes to give Anna room to sit by the eggs*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -laughs softly moving closer and holding them both out to let Dazza choose which one she wants- Something like that yeah... The top shelf where I had them... If sort of fell on me... -she grins sheepishly- I really think I should have used the step stool...
Kiss Shining: ouch... yeah... do that next time. *She nods with a grin as she reaches and takes the right blanket from Anna easily unfolding it and setting to tugging it comfetable in to one of the baskets*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -shrugs lightly sitting down next to Dazza and thier eggs- I probabaly won't, it takes to long... and I 'can' reach it... kind of -winks and reaches for the other basket trying to arrange the blanket in there in the best way possible-
Kiss Shining: *Sends Anna a 'look' and a slight pout* Just don't hurt your self. You're a foster mother now! You have a little Pard egg to think of. *nods and finishes tugging the blanket in nicely. She places her hands on it making sure it's nice and soft all over befor reaching for her own egg letting her hands glide over it caressingly befor she picks it up and puts it gently in the basket* There!
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -nods absently consentrating on getting the bedding just right where it will not only keep the egg warm, but will cusion it as well as help to keep it from accidentaly rolling out of the basket... hearing the words foster mother she looks up, her eyes wide- I... I am aren't I... We are... -she smiles liking the sound of that and finishes arranging the blanket before gently lifting her egg and holding it close to her body- Thank you so much Dazza for helping me hae the courage to go through with this. -she would hug Dazza if her arms weren't full with the egg, but she's sure Dazza knows that... she holds the egg just a bit longer and gently places it into the 'nest' she fixed for it-
Kiss Shining: *Giggles softly one hand laying gently on the egg while the other restes on the side of the basket.* Don't mention it... You did the same for me after all... If you hadent told me to just get it I might still be wondering weather or not to get it. *She smiles down at the egg* I'm glad I did though.
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -she reaches across the baskets and squeezes Dazza's hand gently- Yeah, that's what friends are for right... -looking down at the egg she whispers softly because if she tries to say it any louder the words might not come out- I'm glad I did too...
Kiss Shining: *Just smiles and nods* Yeah... We did the right things. Thies baby's are so worth more than we payed
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -nods softly still smiling- yeah... so much more...
Kiss Shining:*Lays down besides the basket as close to it as she posibaly can one hand still on the egg the other now resting under her head* Hmm... I'm happy we got them.
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: Hey, I was about to do that -she said teasing- Oh well great minds think alike right -laughs softly and curls her body around thebase of the basket as best she can, effectively 'cuddling' the basket with the egg inside. one arm laying along the floor beneath her head, the other gently playing along the surface of the egg.-
Kiss Shining: *Giggles softly* Hey you can do it too! It's comfy! *She allmost purrs to the egg as she closes her eyes smiling. This was comfetabal and nice*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -she murmers softly- very comfy -her voice low and thick with sleep... as the days exertions take thier toll, Anna begins to get sleepy.-
Kiss Shining: *Smiles as she cuddles closer to her egg* Sleep well Anna... *She giggles softly*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -opens her eyes slowly and nods just a tiny bit- mmhmmm you too Dazza... -curls tighter to the basket absently wondering why she didn't bring blankets for the two of them as well... it could get cold-
Kiss Shining: *Just smiles in reply*
o.o' Misshift Anna 'o.o: -humms very softly more to herself really... an old childhood habit-
-smiles- and that concludes this evenings veiwing XD

Event! Your Egg has been removed from the incubator.
 With a noticable air of worry- or perhaps, unease- Zaxzi steps into the room you have currently occupied and folds his wings. There is no time to question how he entered the room, your home, this secure location- he is simply there, and he begins to speak. "The eggs have begun to emerge from the incubators. This is the second stage your egg will reach- it is still impressionable and easy to damage, but the shell is harder and the cub has gained the ability to take care of itself, somewhat. It no longer requires the artificial heat of the incubator, but it is also no longer protected by it- be very careful what you subject it to. Strong magic of any kind should be avoided at this stage...and may your God help you if I find you've mistreated it."With that...optomistic message, the Seer turns and leaves your presence.

You can well imagine my surprise when Zaxzi stepped into my living room... for one utterly terrifying moment, I thought he had come to tell me I could no longer care for this special egg. You see, I had been worried for a little while now that I had been letting Tanith spend too much time with it, but I just couldn't seem to make myself say anything to the medusa about it. Tanith meant the egg no harm, she only wanted something to love. How could I tell Tanith she couldn't love it?... The answer was simple, I couldn't! So when Zaxzi was just.. there, well I'll admit, assumed the worst. I was so relieaved to learn he was here because it was time for the darling to come out of the incubator... Once Zaxzi had taken care of what he had come for, I sat utterly still on the couch, clinging to the newly freed egg resting there across my lap, saying silent prayers of thanksgiving to whatever powers might be listening. I hadn't even really gotten a good look at the outside of my precious charges fragile home, I only wanted to reasure myself it was really here... that no one had taken it away....

After a few weeks, I gradually got used to the idea that "He" wasn't going to come take my egg away. At least not as long as I took good care of it. As long as we 'all' took good care of this precious egg. Now please, don't misunderstand... I'm not implying in the least that this is the one and only special egg in all the world(s), I firmly believe life is very special in it's many forms, and should be nurtured. But this little egg... well it was extra special to me.
You see, it has brought some members of my little 'family' closer together. Take Tanith for example; she used to be quite obnoxious where I was concerned. She seemed to feel I was just another annoying bouncing idiot. sweatdrop Yes, I know what you're thinking... I do bounce quite a lot, but it's only because I am so happy mostof the time. Honestly, it feels so much better to just bounce from place to place rather than walk.. It's so invigorating, and really helps to keep my spirits up. While Tanith is more... well she doesn't bounce. Now that she has this egg to fuss over and coddle, however, she is much nicer to me, and we have been singing to the egg together. I think Tanith decided I'm not all that bad.
I have lately been spending a great deal of my time in trying to be completely sure my little pardling will like it's habitat once it hatches. I honestly don't know the best type of bedding to use, or what I will feed it. That's beginning to cause me a great deal of anxiety, as of it's comming out draws ever nearer. I have decided to give it several options for bedding, and see which one it likes best. Even went so far as to have a cave built in the room for her. It's quite convenient that this cave serves as the gateway between my room and the nursery, and can if need be, be removed with little difficulty.
As to food... well again, I was at a loss. I have been trying to research Pards, but I haven't been able to get my hands on much information. I've opted to study other large cats as well, to improve my chances of helping the little one to grow and thrive once it leaves the safe confines of its egg. I am assuming that pards are mammals, and therefore the young would nurse, feeding at first off it's mother's milk. This realization brought with it a fresh wave of panick. How am I going to provide the proper nutrients to this baby... To my knowledge, I have no lactating pards, nor have I ever seen one. So what was I to do... Tigers? Lions?... Bottle?...
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what I decide now, because once the baby comes, I will have to use whatever works best for it, and hope that something I think of will do the trick... I wonder if any of the other adoptive parents are in this same situation. Surely I can't be the only one who has never had a pardling (cub/kit/baby [Rawr]) before. I shall ask Dazza when next I see her, perhaps she will know...
