All right, this is my first Conlang I've ever made. I haven't been working seriously on it until about two months ago, and I'd appreciate help; especially with the grammar portion.

Pilael is the Root Language of the peoples of Narvu. (Narvu literally means "hell," that's a story in itself) It is the only root language, not because it was the first language made in the area, but because it belonged to the only group of people who survived a cataclysmic catastrophe.

On Narvu, between 500 and 1000 years before the current time of the story, A super volcano erupted for 44 days, covering most of the land in ash and killing off many of the species who once dominated the ecosystem. Many words for older creatures were lost, or passed into folklore; while newer words were invented by the two groups that survived.

One group went underground to survive the blast, they are the top predators of their domain and have had leasure to develop a writing system and culture. Their language hasn't changed too much.

The group above ground has no form of writing, but they do still use the base 12 numbering system. They have a few permanent settlements, they spend most of their energy surviving.

The two groups also have similar polytheistic religions, with 11 main gods and goddesses, one of them being the creator god. Karath, the creator's name also means unexistance, or nothing. In myths he is referred to as "The Nothing" and is decidedly neutral having created both good and evil.

Karath created three things: Varush, the eternal world, Ankkil and Vyalant.

His two children, Ankkil and Vyalant, became good and evil. And, in order to keep them happy he divided up Varush into Naera and Narvu; heaven and hell. Vyalant lived in Naera and created plants and animals. Ankkil lived on Narvu and created beings in his own image, giving them the ability to do great harm. (Yeah, my people have a messed up picture of themselves)

Vyalant, upon seeing the people's suffering, begged her brother to give them better conditions, he refused. She pulled up her mighty army and goes in to save them. And she gives people the ability to defy their nature, which is inherently evil.

Other deities include: Zhekil, boatman to the afterlife; Pezha, goddess of rain and water and her brother Dhedeth, god of thunder and lightning; Esh, goddess of darkness with great wings that sweep across the sky; Pepa, god of wisdom and old age; Dinaned, goddess of safety and matron of pregnant women and lost children; Depilik, goddess of chaos and Zeket, her lover, who is god of war.

Also, since Ankkil created it, fire is a cultural Taboo.

There are three sound sets in Pilael: Initial consonants, Final Consonants and vowels. Every syllable must have one vowel, exactly one. There are no diphthongs and two vowels cannot appear back-to-back in the same word. But Vowels also cannot appear on their own. They must have either an initial or final consonant.

The Phonetic Alphabet has 34 letters to account for the separation of initial and final consonants:

The Letters are phonetically spelled(when reciting the "alphabet"): Ra, Pa, Ta, Ka, Va, Dhe, Za, Zhe, Ma, Ne, Dae, Gi/ Ae(ai), eh, ih, yo, oo, ah, ya/ ad, il, ant, enk, amb, yosh, as, eth, af, eg, yab, ak, aer, it, em

Grammatically, Pilael is fairly lacking. But there are a few things I do have and so I'll post them here.

First of all, for now Pilael is SVO. With not exceptions so far.

The Conjugation of Verbs

Pilael has four tenses: Present, Perfect, Imperfect and Future. The Tense of a Verb is indicated by either a Prefix or a short particle before the verb. Most verbs also have 12 other endings divided by first, second or third person; singular or plural and Active or passive.

And, of course, as in most languages we have an irregular verb of being: Emb. Emb, instead of having active and passive endings, has six endings for each tense. It goes something like this:

User Image

There are two conjugations. For the first Conjugation, (Which I call the Prefixive Conjugation) You add a prefix to the stem of the word in order to change tense and then a suffix to change who is doing the action. Take for example the perfectly regular Verb Tes:

User Image

For the second conjugation(The Particle Conjugation) the prefixes of the first conjugation are replaced with particles that show tense. It also has a different set of 12 endings. One example is erMad; to Write.

User Image

As a rule; all verbs beginning with Vowels will be second conjugation verbs; or irregular. Most first conjugation verbs have only one syllable, while as a rule second conjugation verbs have two or more.

Nouns and the Declination of

In Pilael; there are only two cases of Nouns, and a singular and plural for each. One of them covers nominative and accusative usage; while the other case, the Relative Case, includes genitive and the being object od prepositions of relation.

However, I haven't actually figured our how to divide up and give my nouns cases yet. So this is Place holding for now.

Names and Special treatment of
Any word can be used as a name. And, when speaking it, you generally can't tell except from the context.

However, when written, names are distinguished from other words in a sentence. All Names are Underlined. This way Pilael can mean understanding and Pilael can mean Language.

However, some names (Specifically those of deities) are treated to put them out even further. The word PeZha can refer to a river. The Name PeZha is a girl's name. But when PeZha is both Under and Over lined it can only be referring to the name of the Goddess Pezha.

Sentence Structure
Well, since I only have one case for both Nominative and Accusative nouns it's SVO; and the adjective comes after the noun. But other than that I don't really have much. If you could make suggestions they'd be appreciated.

I'd like to improve my vocabulary by translating various phrases and Myths into Pilael. So far my progress is inhibited by my lack of a complex grammar, but if anybody thinks of a phrase for me, I'll do my best to translate it.

Mythos or Cultural:

That writing system is wonderful! I love it! I'd like to see translations of paragraphs so I could see how it looks stacked in block format. That'd be cool. =)
