I have the yearning to make one.
I am assuming it's quite simple and I could probably cast on now, but I wanted to see if anyone else had made one and had any tips or tricks of making it go faster?

I'm making one from leftover balls that are too small to do anything with. Size 4 needles and worsted weight yarn, in seed stitch. I cast on 20 sts and it's roughly 4 inches wide (my gauge is huge, but I am able to adjust accordingly) and a very firm fabric. All my yarn is Super Saver, something I use to make bags.

I started one last night. If you look at the pictures, it is knitted in garter stotch, so it's only 1 layer thick.
I wasn;t going to use DK weight, I went with worsted weight on size 8 needles and it's a pretty quick knit. Mindless, yes. But simple and quick.

There are some fun LiveJournal communities for Dr. Who (Who_Knits and Crafty_Tardis).
The Who_Knits group recently did a Who Scarf knitalog so there are some great pics there.

Cool, I'll have to check that out!
Knit in garter stitch the scarf *is* pretty darn fast, even if it is 8 million miles long.
I may be crazy, but I really want to try knitting the fifth doctor's white, red and black cricket sweater... >.> <.<
