Image 8A lot of people are probably curious about how their nail style should look like

Um here are some pics of nails that you can buy at your local drug store in the US
They are much more simple but for me, I always think its best to start with a french tip and build your way on it <3

Im thinking of adding a tutorial where i will be adding popup things to the fake nails and stuff but later on this year. So keep in tune!

From experience, if you plan on doing these nail designs. Make sure you paint on the acrylic or plastic nails first and let them dry. Then glue them to your nails <3

HOWEVER, I browsed online for some hand made projects on nails and found some good reference pics

Take a look <3

Yahoo! Japan Auctions has some amazing fake nails, I found a set in pink that were decorated with lots of gems, plastic fruits, whipped cream made from silicon and such... they looked amazing! Cost a lot though ^^;;

The best place to find nails= styles if you are going to make your own is in the EGG magazines. They even have some mini tutorials to show you how to make them.

how do you put on fake nails?

Those of you in California might be interested to hear that there's a nail salon in Tustin, CA called Hime Nail Salon which specializes in 3D nail art as applied to acrylic and solar nails. Their gallery has some really neat designs [my favorite are the polka dot covered acrylics; very simple and sweet!]

Xx_Dead Lolita_xX: The method varies. Those that are posted in the first portion of this thread are temporary and reusable. They're applied with a special nail glue or a small sticker pad.

Other fake nails, such as acrylic or solar nails, are actually attached to your nail at a more basic level. The technician roughens the nail and strips the top layer away after applying the "tips" [usually plain, white plastic]. On top of this roughened surface, the nail technician then applies a sort of "putty" of acrylic material that is then shaped and hardened to form the nail itself. This sort of gel can be colored or decorated in various methods while it's still wet, since it ends up being almost rock solid when it's done.

Getting acrylics done too often unfortunately can be very damaging to your nails, however. Many women who do not care for them properly end up with various infections because of the process.

I suppose this is just my opinion, but at least for sweet lolita, aren't you supposed to be portraying a young child? So wouldn't just a cute, simple color and a small design be best?

Once again,just my opinion.

Actually, the point isn't to portray a younger child [that would be more appropriate for cosplay, sissy or adult baby/age play, none of which lolita associates with willingly]; the clothes are inspired by clothing from the Victorian Era that children wore, mixed with rococo flavors, but the point isn't to be a child.

As for the style and simplicity, it's a personal choice. Currently, Angelic Pretty's crazy "decololita" coordinations seem to be infecting everyone in the style. People are putting some pretty wacky things in their hair and on their fingers these days.

You can if you wish, but you're better off trying to get nail sets and gluing them on with nail glue or double-sided nail tape instead. Cute nail jobs in a salon can cost 60 and over.

This is why girls are more careful when they get tips. You can't be reckless wearing them.

Really, it depends on the glue you use. There are some glues that while they claim they are "permanent", they'll wear off in a week or so, so you can carefully peel off the nail and reuse them later. It won't hurt if you don't act dumb about it.

Otherwise, you can get them removed at a salon but either filing or dipping your nails in a solution (I believe there's a difference between acrylics and calgel nails). It's really not painful at all.
