Read her Darkover books. I would start with Hawkmisstress then Stormqueen. Also you might want to try her book Mists of Avalon.

Gods I don't get it! How Paolini can make such a "good" series is beyond me. It must be one of the biggest cliche novel series I have ever laid eyes on and not wanted to read. So I didn't. I watched the movie. Sure, the dragon looked kinda cool as a baby, but once more cliche cliche cliche. My friend (a girl) said that Eragon was hot. How that works is beyond me, because he's a simpleton farm boy with a stupid name. Why would you name your child Eragon anyway? I can't believe that.
Guess what? The villain (the magician guy) is ugly! Wow... such a cliche, it almost doesn't work.
The convenience of the old dragon rider is good for Eragon. I doubt he'd find his way to bathroom without a map. Let alone find his way to some randoms who need his help. Then, if it wasn't enough convenience and disgust, some princess comes along, pretends to be a hard, then turns out all soft and wet, scared for her people, and on a beautiful white horse. Couldn't she ride a chestnut horse? They are a more common horse than pure white ones.

And don;t you think it's just a little strange that some guy's son turns out to be good, AND handsome? If the world really worked like that it'd be easy to see who was evil. Just look for really ugly people, and then kill them. It's that simple. However, in real life, you'll find handsome people who will charm you, and the next morning you'll be missing several bank statements, your wallet, and the piece of paper you wrote your bank card number on.

All in all, Christopher Paolini must be a lord somewhere in some gay, hick community in a cliche hick area... Like Texas or Alabama.

Well, if you read the book, you would know that the first Dragon Rider was an Elf named Eragon, to which is his name sake. But, we are talking about the book, and you are talking about the movie, to which is really not at all like the book. I don't know one movie that was made after a book that was exactly like the book. What difference does it make for the color of the horse. Maybe it was because they didn't want a common horse. To that statement, that is like referring to Gandalf's horse, Shadowfax, he rode. Why couldn't Shadowfax be brown? Really, you make no sense, you don't know what you are talking about, so all your statements are meaningless. You wasted your time.

once upon a time i was an eragon lover and now i have come to my senses that the best books are most of the time uncommon. like ender's game or son of the mob or anything else uncommon. though i have not read these for a while or since my seventh grade year they were pretty good, though a book that i have also found interesting is the chronicles of vladamir todd and that is an uncommon author who wrote it

To Herman Shines

Your opinions are fine but name calling will not be tolerated. I understand that Eragon is a hit or miss series that you either love or hate, clearly you hate it. That's fine, I hate it too. However, your comment about Poalini is out of place.

Sacred Guardian makes some good points, the triviality of what colour and how people look isn't logical or relevant. In the great vastness of the uncountable universes, whether or not a chosen one is gorgeous or hideous doesn't matter. Cliche is no longer a valid term when it comes to writing and movies since everything is based off something and influenced by an authors personal bias, if he or she likes something they'll use it.

What little originality is left out there and hidden between the pages of like minded writing is always over looked for things that can be related back to other things. I bet you, Herman, never once looked at what Paolini did that could be considered original? In my opinion the book, first book, though I've only ever read some of it, is triteful. But I focus more on events and writing ability than what colour something is. Adjectives describe a scene, object, emotion, etc. If you don't like the colour of Eragon's shirt or the convenience of Brom than write your own dragon series and get it published, come back here and we'll analyze it to death like we have Paolini's.

I'm not saying the only people who can be critics are the ones who do the writing or filming or what have you, but attacking personal character is unacceptable. I could call you an arrogant @#$! for being so callous and uncivilized but that would go against the rules of this guild. Instead I leave you with a warning. Heed it.

My opinion of the first book was an A to A+. I thought that it was great and couldn't wait for the next one to come out. When the next one came out and I read it, I was disapointed. even though I thought that it was really giid, it didn't live up to the standards the first book had set, and I would give it a B to A-.

I really loved the first book because it was really great to see how Christopher Paolini's writting style grew and changed as the book progressed, and I enjoyed how he took the charecters on an actual journey, describing each place and tracking their travels on a map. The end though was really good, yet extremely frustrating.

The second book... I really extremely enjoyed reading about what was going on with the Varden, and the baby that Eragon accidentally cursed, but every thing else was just average and the stuff about Eragons cousin was written pretty well, but really depressing. emo

I was extatic when I found out when the next book was coming out, Its going to be called Brisingr and call me crazy, I don't mind if you laugh, but I wish Christopher Paolini had stayed with the E theme. sweatdrop

I'm really surprised now, because I did not know that their was going to be a fourth book, and I'm excited. I hope the seiries doesn't let me down. cheese_whine
