~~~The sky suddenly turns dark as the sun, previously shining brightly down on the Soquili lands, disapears behind a heavy grey cloud. From out of the northwest, an icy cold breeze suddenly whips across the landscape, causing those that are touched to shudder as though touched by an unseen foe. Carried along on the wind seems to be a cold, cackling laugh....
Atop a mountain sits a coal black wolf, its red eyes glittering with maliciousness. The time is nearly come...
Eloran regards the distant wolf with guarded respect, but growing uneasiness... something was in the wind. All small animals scurried from it's chill touch, and there are no signs of the larger beasts. He shifted his hooves uncertainly. Something was indeed coming. Was the black wolf a harbringer of dark times?
Baldev moved carefully towards the other stallion. The wolf not all that far away made him feel rather uneasy and being with others usually made any sort of phobia dissapate. Shifting his weight from one side of his body to the other, Baldev spoke quietly, "It is my first night in these lands, do omens such as the wolf appear often." It'd be nice if they were common.. No need to fear what was known.
Wild Wind seemed to merely smile to himself as his bicolored eyes touch the lone wolf. Memories of the crime he had done flickered inside his head, making the grin more maniacal with the passing thought. He didn't believe in Skinwalkers, felt they were just as much of a dream as kalonas. Someday, he would be proven wrong.
Samus stayed hidden in the trees as his black coat kept him well hiddin. eyes narrowed and the urge to bare his teeth came as he saw the malisious wolf off in the distance though still to close for his liking. rufflinf his wings in uneasiness, he stayed where he was, never leting his eyes off the wolf dispit catchign sight of others about.
Known for his hair and fluffiness, it surprised even himself when the wind made him tremble from the cold around him. Something about the calm words of the other had the exact opposite effect on Baldev. Why would something strange about a wolf not make him run screaming? His own legs were frozen stock still and his nearly colorless eyes gazed at the black wolf. Words choked from his lips slowly, "I've heard tales, when I was young, too young to remember even the stories... Stories of accursed ones." His words were choppy as his mind tried to recall those things.
Eloran again turned his gaze to his companion, his expression mildly puzzled. As the other stallion finished speaking, the bay stallion arched one brow. He was generally a very practical and well-rooted individual. Hearing someone whisper fearfully about tales told when he was a foal made him even more skeptical. "Accursed ones?" Though his tone was doubtful, it wasn't mocking. "I know of some who might consider themselves accursed in one way or another." He glanced back at the wolf. "But what kind of curse would you be referring to?" He watched the black predator warily, but without the termbling fright the other stallion seemed inclined to.
Several other Soquilis seemed to be out and about and Baldev could not figure out why none of them really seemed to have any worry at all. If an animal seemed different from the others then why would that not tip them off to something beign wrong? Baldev partially wanted to tuck tail and run the rest of him wanted to charge the bad one away. He had seen a couple of wolves in his life and those had made him curious or smile. This one made goosebumps rise. "The tales of old are just that, old and faded, mark my words though.. cursed beings roam these lands. They hate all, love nobody not even themselves." Baldev would probably feel silly if the tales he told were just that, tales.. but never before had the blank stare of another animal bothered him so...
*A chill was in the air and it made her coat shiver, ears perking forward as a snarl came to you small ears. Pale hooves stomped the ground in a warning to whatever it was that was lurking about the shadows, no matter the distance. The little usdia wasn't taking anything from anyone, turning her head to the side, her nose to the wind, she tried scenting whatever was out there, slolwy walking into the wind, letting it whip her mane back away from her face, she wanted to know this beast that made her shiver. The one that made her skin crawl with millions of tiny legs, when she did find the beast, she would give it a piece of her mind!*
The smaller pink pony was stamping her hooves and making quite a bit of noise not that far away at all. Baldev shifted himself to look at her and called out rather quietly, "Would you care to join us and make it a group? I usually feel safter in numbers." He hoped she wouldn't take it the wrong way, some females didn't take to being "protected" at all. Baldev just liked to call it being respectful.
The painted stallion moved closer to the pair that had been talking not to far from where he had stood. That gleam of insanity still shining in his smile. "That is merely a tale used to teach you to mind your parents. Nothing more than a story. Wolves would be bad news period for any Grounded," he said pointedly to the chestnut brown stud.
*Turning her head to the side, Lickety-Split eyed the larger soquili that had called to her. She wasn't one for groups, she didn't much do too well within a group. Tended to want all the glory for herself, but this chill and the snarl earlier had unnerved her that she would do anything to be with someone else, as long as they would protect her rather then run away blindly, leaving her to her self.* "Why not, whatever it is out there gives me the creeps." *She shivered pacing closer to the uni soquili, her blue eyes watching the shadows that were to her sides, sometimes glancing back to the ones behind her. There was something out there and she didn't like it, not at all...*
One eyebrow raised slowly and a thickly outlined in kohl eyes narrowed at the wind stallion. "You talk as if wolves can not be cursed or more dangerous than any other creature." A certain sheen was in the other's eye, a sheen that worried Baldev. Not a fear at all but just something to keep his eye on. Lordy, if this kept up then Baldev was going to be classified as a coward soon.
Eloran glanced at the small mare, then turned his gaze to the decidedly creepy stallion. Mentally he thought that perhaps this was one of those cursed ones. Instead, he shook his head slowly, still standing firm and unafraid. "Not necessarily, considering someone in my extended family had a wolf companion from birth." He arched a brow and swished his tail slowly. "So perhaps you flee from shadows, winged brother." He offered a guileless and gentle smile, inwardly chuckling. Such foolishness, making such comments. Whether he referred to his own or that of the odd stallion wasn't entirely clear, even to himself.
A grouop of four, more Soquilis than what Baldev was really accustomed to. He grinned for several seconds before sobering to the situation. When all was said and done, that wolf was still about. He'd lost focus of the pair of eyes that had had a rather haunting effect but where else would the creature have gone? Shifting politely he moved in a manner that would allow the littler mare to be put in between him and Eloran. "The other stallion seems to be affected by wolves. I would not take him too personally."
*She was amongst giants, comparing herself to the stallions by size. Was it that strange to have a pony around with the larger ones? Well if anything had gone wrong, she could easily have a wall to protect her like a scared foal behind its mother. Though she was far from being a scared foal, she could hold her own, always did, always will. Looking up at them, she eyed all three, wondering what they were going on about. Was it really 'just a wolf' that growled? Sure she hadn't heard everything that had been said, but something wasn't right, she could feel it deep in her gut. Something colder was out there, somewhere, hunting... For what? She could only guess... For now, she lat the larger Soquili speak amongst themselves.*
He snorted and turned his head to look at the lone figure in the distance. His smile grew wider with the thought. "Would you fight or take flight, Sacred one?" His eyes moved back to Eloran, looking him over in a measuring manner. "You don't seem the type to fly, but any wild beast that hasn't been tamed by the hand of," he paused and made a sneering look on his face as he said the word, "two-leggers... would seem docile and friendly."
His laughter was slightly high pitched with the lose of his sanity. "Yes, the true wild beasts would not think you brave for standing your ground. The would still rip your throat out just like anything else." He finally noted the smaller mare in the group. "And would this small female Grounded be guarded enough?"
Baldev felt his lip curling up in disgust. The black and white wind stallion had absolutely no sanity left to him. His words had a crazed feeling to them and he spoke out to the wolf as if it would speak back. Puffing up slightly, unusually for a stallion like Baldev he felt the urge to protect. One wolf would not rip the throat of that stallion, this mare, or himself.
His mouth formed a firm line and he let the other know these feelings, "If you so truly love wolves and believe in them the way you do.. Why do you not go to your brother?" Baldev would not go over to that wolf for all the love in the world. Nothing.. that one was accursed in his mind.
*Placing herself between the uni and another she turned toward the wind. Her eyes narrowing as she marched back toward him. Her ears pressed back the bangles about her ankles jingling as she went. Stopping inches away from the wind she looked up at him.* "I can hold my own if I need to. I've seen worse then a mere wolf." She huffed, puffing herself up to make herself look bigger then she really was. "If you're so gung-ho about all this, why not seek the beast yourself? Or are you scared?" she questioned before turning away from him and placing herself between the other two. Her ears still pressed back.
Eloran shook his head with a wry chuckle. "Your barbs do not bite as you intend them to. I was raised both by humans as well as in the wild." He met the mad stallion's eyes straight on. "I know what evils exist in both worlds. And I know madness when the air is tainted with it." He snorted and pawed with one hoof. "Any being knows when to run and when to fight. Even this smaller sister knows she is no fair game to a wolf when amongst a herd." He flicked his ears at his companions, then snorted once more. "But for now, I have lost interest in the wolf that is no longer there."
He turned, nostrils flaring to scent the wind. The wind no longer had that quality of eerie forboding. The moment had passed with the disappearance of the strange carnivore. "I wish you all the best," he bobbed his head to the first two, then eyed the wind again. "Or as best as you can hope for." And with that, took himself off in search of his daughter.
He looked pointedly at the blue unicorn, the stare as cold as his heart. "Clearly you are too blind to see that I have wings. My brothers are those that fly the sky. Not wolves. You, my horned friend, will be a disgrace to your race if you continue to open your mouth of such idiocy."
He giggled, the pitch still high and sharp. "Scared? It's called respect, little grounded. Perhaps some day, you'll be taught to that lesson on a full moon," he said and gave a mimicked wolf howl at the end and broke into another fit of giggles.
He flicked his tail, the beads clicking together. He merely ignored the Grounded as he walked away as he himself took a few steps back from the group, opening his wings. "And it's my cue to leave," he said, snapping his wings and lifting up off the ground.
*She barely watched the wind fly away, she didn't even turn around as she stomped the ground. Even in the darkness she hadn't noticed that the other stallion had left. She had been to agitated with the wind to notice.* "Stupid feather head" She spat stomping the ground again, her head turned toward the skies. "All winged ones are stupid feather heads, I lived with two and they were both stupid." *Shaking her head, Lickety stood there huffing a moment before looking up at the uni Soquili.* "So horned one, what's your name? Now that the feather head is gone." She gave a small snort, "Mine's Lickety-Split. I'm stronger then I look, even in my small form.."
