Once again my heart has burst, and is pouring out...
Raine nodded as Shadow's form began to shift. As the cold feeling flowed through her veins, Raine inhaled abruptly. At first, the icy feeling flooding her body was uncomfortable, but she grew accustomed to it and soon it didn't really seem to bother her. Though when he mentioned it was going to fade, she nodded in response before exhaling, getting used to the awkward feeling. It was odd really, but it made sense... Like two people operating a simple machine that only needed one to modify it.

"Thank you.. Again." She said softly. Raine was personally unsure whether to bring Raithill or not. He was fast asleep and she didn't want to wake him, but if he woke when she was gone, then there was no doubt that he would be frightened. This thought plagued her mind, but she didn't want to keep Shadow waiting. There was no doubt that it was just as uncomfortable for him as it was for her, if not worse for him.

"How long do you suppose we'll be?" She asked him, her eyes averting up towards the window of the room on the upper level where Raithill lay sleeping soundlessly.

"Repair it." Call the memories trapped in the crevice,
--still you do not answer.

"Long enough that you're going to want to wake Raithill." Shadow replied as if reading her thoughts, trying to get used to seeing things through her eyes. "We have no idea how long it's going to take to find the item, let alone get it from where ever it is. If a person has it, chances are they aren't going to let it go easily." This had been true enough so far. Sure, the man with the lighter had handed it over, but the king with the katana sure hadn't."Anyways, you better hurry."

Raine nodded and moved towards the small cottage. Pushing the door open to step within, her eyes shifted about the room and proceeded forward to begin up the staircase and into the loft. Upon reaching the loft, Raine blinked and smiled softly as she moved towards her son's bed. If she told him and simply left him here, he would probably be disappointed that he didn't get to come along, not to mention that he also wielded the element of darkness. Perhaps he should come along as well...

Placing her hand on her son's shoulder, Raine whispered his name softly. "Raithill... She called to him. "Raithill, it's time to go." She said softly and lifted her hand off his shoulder and stood up straight.

Raithill groaned as he was woken up and rolled over as if he was going back to sleep. He sighed though and slowly got up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Yesterday had been an exhausting day and he wanted to sleep more, but he also didn't want to be left behind so he yawned loudly then tried to pretend like he wasn't tired. "When're we leaving, mommy?" he asked he shuffled over to his closet to pick out something to wear for the day.
"You should probably fix him breakfast first. The inhabitants of the Realm of Dark aren't exactly hospitable." Shadow commented.

"Soon sweetheart." Raine responded to her son with a smile as he rubbed his eyes and climbed out of his bed. She watched him wander around the loft area. His tracks eventually led him to the closet in which he would open to choose clothing he desired to wear. Nodding mentally to Shadow's comment, Raine turned towards the entrance to the bedroom. However, she stood beside her son and set her hand upon his dark, ruffled locks and spoke to him quietly.

"What would you like to eat, Raithill?" She asked slowly, that familiar, motherly tone staining her voice as she spoke to her son. In most situations, Raine would look at the task at hand carefully and look at it from a mother's perspective rather than a random bystander. Really, it meant things were handled a little more carefully rather then jumping in feet first, ready to get your hands dirty.

"I'm going to make something for us to eat... Anything you would like in specific?" She didn't want to go and make a huge breakfast with tons of dishes. If she did that, then it would only take longer for them to enter the Realm of Darkness, and on top of that, continue to make Shadow uncomfortable, as well as herself.

"Cake!" Raithill said with a small laugh as he pulled a few clothes from his closet to change into. It was pretty much his standard answer, as it was with most kids. After all, most kids just wanted sweets all the time. But he knew his mom probably wouldn't give him cake for breakfast so he thought about somthing else. "And eggs." he added before starting to change his shirt. This morning he had picked a plain black t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

Raine chuckled as she heard her son announce what he wanted for breakfast. Obviously she wouldn't make him an entire cake to eat, so the only sweets he would be getting in the morning would be orange juice. Once in the kitchen, she opened up the fridge and took out the supplies needed to cook breakfast. Eggs, bacon and bread.

Spinning around, she took hold of a pan and various utensils she would need to make the the eggs. Raine placed the pan on the stove and reached over it to turn it on and warm the pan while she got other things ready. She moved across the kitchen towards a cupboard where she took hold of a couple plates, two cups in which she set on the table. This was followed by the placement of cutlery as well. Once she was done with setting the table, she turned around to the stove once again and took three eggs from the carton in which she cracked open onto the warmed pan.

Raithill yawned and sat down at the table to wait for his food. He might have a lot of energy during the day, but in the morning he was generally pretty relaxed. As his mother walked around the room he started thinking about what had happened so far. It had been pretty intersting so far. There had been things he'd never seen in places he never knew existed, and it would only get more interesting.

She moved around the kitchen quickly. Breakfasts didn't generally take very long to put together, on top of that she'd prepared the meal multiple times before. Her movements and strategies were perfected and could be done without looking if she so desired. As the eggs cooked on the pan, she put another one on the stove top and tossed some bacon onto the hot pan, which caused it to sizzle loudly.

Raine spun around to look at her son with a smile. She reached for the orange juice and poured a fair amount into Raithill's glass. She set the juice down before turning around once again to tend to his breakfast which really didn't take too much longer. Within five to ten minutes, everything was done cooking and she shifted it onto his plate as well as her own. Raine left the pans on the stove top to cool down before she washed them, and she would do that while her son got himself prepared to depart for the day.

"Thank you mommy!" Raithill said as his food was placed down in front of him. He was so excited to start the day's adventure that he began eating faster then usual, and within a few minutes he'd finished his breakfast and was hurrying off to get ready. This sound of his feet pattering around on the wooden floor echoed throughout the house he collected various things for the days adventure, such as his socks and shoes and a couple things he had collected over the years. Ten minutes later he was ready to go and waiting eagerly by the door.

As soon as Raithill was done, Raine took his now empty plate and glass and brought them to the sink. The stove had been turned off, as had anything else she had turned on to make the meal for her son, and she began to wash up the dishes rather quickly while her son ran around the house preparing for their adventure for the day. When he returned from his antics around the house, Raine had just finished up washing the dishes and turned off the water. She reached for a dishtowel laying on the counter to dry her hands as she smiled upon her son's announcement.

"Alright, alright. Hold on." She said with a low, happy laugh. She made sure everything was in order and double-checked that everything that had been on was off--including lights and dangerous appliances--before approaching the door to slip her shoes on as well. She found her body unbearably cold from Shadow's presence within her. She shivered a bit, but opened the door for her son with a small smile.

"Like I said, the feeling will subside eventually." Shadow said inside Raine's mind as she shivered. He shifted slightly to match his form more to hers, causing an odd sensation like her insides were moving of their own volition. "I can create a portal to the Realm of Dark when you're ready." Shadow said again as Raithill nearly bolted out the door.
"C'mon, mommy! Let's go!" Raithill said, practically bouncing on his feet. Rain suddenly felt energy flooding her body as Shadow prepared the spell that would open a hold between the two realms.
"Just wave your arms to discharge the spell." Shadow explained.

"Alright." She said softly before feeling her son whiz by her, and hearing him bound out the door. A low, inaudible sigh escaped her lips and she nodded to the words within her mind from the shadowy shiftshaper. She closed her eyes and winced from the cold feeling of Shadow moving within her form, feeling chilled internally and suddenly feeling quite sick, for it felt like any and all vital organs were shifting slightly, and it was only then did she really realize what such a creature was capable of, though not how he could go about doing it... Nor would she want to know.

As directed, Raine nodded and waved rose her hands into the air. She flicked her wrists and kept the palms of her hands and her fingertips directed towards the area that she desired the portal to appear in. The energy that Shadow had pumped into her filled her entire being, though she felt it focus on her fingertips to create a void to one of the many realms there were. It appeared as it should have, a dark, endless abyss, and it was only fitting, seeing that their destination was to the Realm of Darkness, after all.

Raithill was silent and watched with intrest as his mother released the energy to create a portal to the Realm of Darkness. He still wasn't entirely sure how creating portals worked, which was understandable since yesterday had been the first time he had traveled to a realm other then the one they currently occupied. Besides the fact that using magic to tear open holes in reality was a difficult thing to comprehend in the first place. It required so much finese that to a person who could not do it, the fact that someone could seem to do it almost unconsiously was amazing. First you had to determine exactly where you were on this plane, then tear open a hole to The Abyss and stabalize it, then find the correct realm through The Abyss, determine where on that realm you wanted to appear, then tear open a hole from The Abyss to that realm, then finally warp space inside The Abyss so that you only had to take a step instead of traveling for days through The Abyss to get to your destination. Very few people realized that they were actually traveling through something else to get to the other realms to begin with, even though portals always apepared compeltly black no matter the destination, which made their munipulation of The Abyss even more astounding. But to Raithill, who until yesterday did not even know about the existance of other realms, the entire process was mystical. Raithill suddenly grabbed his mother's hand and tried to drag her towards the portal. "C'mon, mommy! Lte's go!" he repeated excitedly. Raithill had always been adventurous, but that aspect of his personality had faded slightly since there was only so much to explore in this field of flowers. Now that there were entire new worlds to explore, new people to meet, new things to find and play with, his adventurous side had come out in full force. He released his mother's hand after a moment, realizing that it wasn't getting him through the portal any faster, and hurried through the black portal into the Realm of Dark.
"He sure is an adventurous little fellow." Shadow chuckled in Raine's head. The cold in Raine's body was now beginning to subside, as Shadow had promised, and his voice was beginning to sound more warm and human. "Just like Durithill when he was young, before everything that happened. I had such a hard time keeping up with him." Shadow, after all, was nearly as old as Durithill. He had been a present from Durimiros originally, and had grown quite attached to the young demon. So much so, in fact, that he had turned against is former master, Durimiros. "Well, we probably should follow him. You never know what kind of trouble he could be getting himself into."

Feeling the tug of her son's hand within hers, she found a smile tugging at her own lips in amusement due to his excitement. When he released her hand and dashed through the dark void, eager to venture off into a new, unknown realm. She would have preferred if he continued to hold onto her hand as they went through, though it wasn't expected. If he were a girl on the other hand, well, she would have thought she'd be clinging to her skirt, like most little girls, however Raithill was not. Raine curled her arms around her mid section and nodded in agreement to Shadow speaking within her. She knew and understood that he knew Durithill very well, but she didn't know exactly how long until now. It almost seemed like a surprise to her, simply because Durithill and herself have both outlived a regular, human lifespan by countless years. "Yes, you're right. I better not leave him alone." She said aloud, though she seemed to smile as she passed through the portal. "If he's anything like his father, he'll get into some sort of trouble." She mentioned, but he would also be able to get out of anything bizarre as well.
