What sort of romance do you find to be most interesting in a story?
Forbidden Romance (Romeo and Juliet, anyone?)
Peer to Peer Romance (people who are the same level fall in love)
  Teenage Romance (obvious, no?)
Superior and Subordinate Romance (Teacher-Student at most, master and worker, boss and worker, etc)
  First Love
  Engagements or Marriage
  Not interested in romance, unfortunately...

heart Romance heart

In a story, it can be the cause of the plot's greatest conflicts in my honest opinion. Romance may drive the plot as the central theme, or influence it with unimaginable results. It might as well be considered the world's most used genre in the fields of Art and Literature because of how easily people can relate to it, or how mere people can create such thrilling stories that sway a person's heart, pulling him or her into the beauty of love.

But that's where I'll stop for now. It's an introduction, right?

This thread (I pray it will live up to its function) is to discuss the pros and cons of romance, and how it can be improved in a story. The discussion will hopefully help the writers of the forum (please let there be a couple) improve their skills with comments from their peers.

-----

Now I understand that arguing is a big no-no in the forum. Please, I'd refrain from that here. I would like honest opinions in this forum instead of something that was posted to hurt. Be considerate in posting (if there will be anyone who'll post).

So let's all just get along here and help each other.

Call me annoyed, but I've found a scenario which I don't really appreciate. But I couldn't help it! It goes like this:

-----

Jack and Jill are new students. They argued a few times during the first two days, but make up during that time period. It seems as if they like each other, but one doesn't want to admit this to the other.

On the third day of class, Jill attends a class where her teacher, Mr. Jones, is a writer just like her (and is only three years older than her--Jill is sixteen years old). Jill humiliates herself in the class and is picked on by the students, but Mr. Jones stops them and defends Jill. Soon, Jill seems to be quite fond of the teacher even though it's her first time meeting him.

During lunch, Jill eats with Jack, but when Mr. Jones drops by and says hello to Jill, Jack shows signs of jealousy. And later during a class with Mr. Jones subbing while the real teacher is gone, Mr. Jones approached Jack and asks the boy why he doesn't seem to like him. Jack doesn't answer directly and spins the question around.

At dinner, Jill finally demands to know why Jack doesn't like Mr. Jones. Jack answers, saying that he doesn't like how Jill is so infatuated with Mr. Jones. The lad is frustrated and leaves the cafeteria, but Mr. Jones overheard their conversation and approaches Jack. Jack lies to Mr. Jones when the teacher asked him about hating [Mr. Jones]. Later, both Jill and Mr. Jones confront Jack to learn the truth, with Mr. Jones saying that lying to a teacher is an offense. Jack finally manages to whisper to Jill that he's jealous of Mr. Jones, then runs off. Jill turns to Mr. Jones, telling the teacher that Jack was being jealous, and then hugs the teacher. Mr. Jones (who turns out to like Jill as well), hugs her back. Jack had turned around to look back and saw them hugging.

Later, Jill decides to confront Jack. Jack says he'll give her the moment to say anything she wants to tell him before he goes back to sleep. Instead of saying anything, Jill walks off. She meets Mr. Jones again and decides to kiss him right away.

The next day (fourth day since school started), Jill finds it awkward to see Jack, while Jack is still suffering from rejection. Jack hurries in finishing breakfast to head to his next class even though it's early. Jill meets Mr. Jones at breakfast, and they act like boyfriend and girlfriend. Mr. Jones says that their relationship is allowed in the school. Later, Jill attends class, but overhears Jack saying something about getting hurt if he falls in love.

Jill admits to herself to not knowing what love is, but feels that she has strong feelings for Mr. Jones. She how Jack could ever love her and thinks that it's philial love.

-----

I don't know, but would someone like to react to this? How is the plot? What can you say about the character's reactions? Is this plot somehow awkward and strange?

This is open to opinions.

Ha ha, I knew someone would say that soon enough.

But is there no awkwardness to it? Like a lack of reality?

And BTW, not MY opinions, I want yours...not just "don't you like it?" and stuff...
