I don't know man I've seen some smoking sexy fretless warwicks befor...

yeh its all preference on Favorite Basses

but

Who In Thier Right Mind!

would turn down a Ric

I'd take it and trade/sell it for something I really want wink

wow

if you had a Ric you'd get rid of it for something like what?

a Warwick whatever there best basses are

or a Kramer thing with a Steel neck/head

or a Wal bass?

eh

i'm not into any of those basses

i like Fender

Rickenbacker

Musicman (bassically Fender too)

and Lakland have recently caught my attention

Hmmm, off the top of my head (widely available only though, no boutique stuff, that would take me another page), an MTD Z4, Lakland Decade or Duck Dunn signature, Benavente Vortex, G&L L-2000, Ibanez BTB 3000 Prestige, Yamaha John Myung signature, Ernie Ball 6-string Bongo, Zon Sonus, Conklin GT, Status Graphite, Spector NS/4, Pedulla Rapture, Peavey Cirrus, Tobias Growler, Hofner Beatle, etc... I'd rather have all these than a Ric. And Ernie Ball isn't essentially Fender, Fender cut all ties with Music Man in 1979, and then Music Man was bought out by Ernie Ball in 1984 after they went bankrupt. And either way, I don't see any similarities between Fender and EBMM instruments, at all.

personally i'd prefer a Ric to any of those

though perhaps a Lakland Jo Osborn i would trade a Ric for

and a Stingray and a Fender Jazz were practically invented by the same person

so i'd would like anything leo fender

and G&L are fkn rad!

Leo Fender helped co-design the Stingray with Tom Walker and Sterling Ball, but by that time Fender had been bought out by CBS, that's why pre-PBS Fender's are so valuable, it doesn't make the Stingray an almost Fender because he helped design it, it makes it a Music Man. And if anything it resembles a P rather than a J.

I guess it all really depends on the sound you're looking for. Different people like different tones. I have a Traben Pheonix custom 5-string, and I personally love the sound and wouldn't trade it for many other basses out there.

But yeah, Silvertones are beginner basses.

I own a Ric.
I'm borrowing a Fender J w/DiMarzio pickups in it
and i love them both separatley.
Each bass has something to set it apart, and there is never one perfect bass.
I'd kill for a Warwick Katana right about now.
Or a nice Lakland. Or even one of those Dime basses.
There are never enogh nice things.

btw if anyone's wondering, my amp setup isn't nearly as good as what i'm playing thru them. SWR Workingman 400w amp, Behringer 4X10 cab.
