Occasionally while I'm meditating or just wandering into idle thought, a rhythmic device appears (ie. A pendulum that swings back and forth, or spins in a circle) that I can't control. I try to slow it, stop it, but I can't. This may seem a bit minuscule, but I find it odd I can't control something in my own head...

If I think of something that loops, it's hard to make it stop in my mind as well.
I could slow it down, but then I "overshoot" and it rewinds... and then trying to do other things just... makes matters a bit worse.
I just ignore it though.

The the basic 'breath in through the nose, out through the mouth' thing. That always clears my head.

Acknowledge the thought and let it pass is the easiest. Expect it to go away and it will. If not, just pay no mind to it or think of something else.
