Okay, so, even though last night I was irritated, I've had some time to think about it and I've decided that this episode is good. I downloaded it, for further watching, and now that I can pause and study it, and let it mull over with what we know from the rest of the episode, I'm going to share my thoughts and observations with you.

Okay. The cloaked/shadowy/unrecognizable figure who gave Zuko the scroll. They look hunched over to me, almost like a hunchback... that could just be a trick of the light, though, or them just hunching over to try and appear less noticeable. I think they might have a bit of a limp, that could be just me. Who do I think it is? I think it's still Ursa, but staring at the clip over and over and over again makes me think that it could be someone else. The question is, who? Not Iroh, that's totally dumb... if he could get out of the prison and go up to Zuko's room in the palace, why wouldn't he just book it? He certainly wouldn't go BACK to the prison.

Another curiosity, speaking of Iroh, that occurred to me this morning; how does he know that Roku is Ursa's grandfather? I mean, it's obviously possible that the royal family knew her lineage, seeing as how she was marrying one of the princes, but wouldn't they see her Avatar heritage as a possible threat? She could pass down that way of thinking that threatened the spread of the Fire Nation empire to her children, who would come into power... I don't know where I'm going with this. It just seems odd that Iroh would know it to me.

Hey, this totally flew over my head, but you know the thing Roku said about friendships being so strong they can transcend lifetimes? Obviously it was meant to be remembered, as it was mentioned at the end as well. Well... hate to be Captain Obvious, but would that mean that Zuko and Aang are destined to be friends? I mean, Zuko isn't Sozin, obviously, but I think it's significant that he's descended from him. In any case, it's a good sign for Zuko joining the Gaang.

Hm, Negi, I don't think that Tam Yin or whatever Roku's bride was called sounds like Azula. Her voice is much more nasally and deeper than Azula's.

Yeah, see? The crown fell to the ground and was just left there. How did Iroh get another? Unless a replica was made, of course, but that just takes all the significance out of it...

I don't get why Sozin rushed over there to help Roku when he was just going to leave him to die anyways. It seems... counter-productive. I mean, it was just like, "Tralaaa! I'm here to help! Oh, and you can go die."

Another note: Firebenders can siphon the heat off, so they can heat AND cool things. Pretty awesome. They're like Pyro and Iceman combined into one! With, uh, y'know, more of the Pyro... but you get what I mean.

...Is Roku's dragon named 'Fang'? Laaaame.

Heyyyy, black dragon. I remember reading somewhere, in someone's deviantART journal, that red and black dragons are supposed to oppose each other, red being the good dragon and black the bad dragon. Lawwwl. They did their research. Or perhaps it's blue, which alludes to something else. Look it up if you want some giggles.

Hey, Aang's mom is there, mostly concealed in shadow. biggrin

YEAH, HOW DID IROH GET THE FREAKIN' CROWN?! That better be explained, 'cause last time I checked, it was coated in LAVA.

Hm, yeah, I think this episode is DEFINITELY alluding to Zuko joining the Gaang soonish. "Everyone needs to be given a chance."

Yeah, I'm still not saying that's a Taang moment. Okay. Let's take a moment to analyze this from Toph's perspective. For the first 12 years of her life, she had NO friends. Now, she has 3 fantastic friends. However, they're kind of up against impossible odds to save the world and whatnot. So, obviously, she'd be scared of losing them. But, the idea that friendship transcends lifetimes, that even if they died the friendship and love would still be there, is very reassuring to her. So, yeah. It's not only concerning her friendship with Aang, it's concerning ALL of them.

So, yeah, those are my second thoughts on this episode. I'm psyched to see next weeks... it seems like the plot of Zuko figuring s**t out is finally getting under way! We're past the season-start awkward episodes where everything is reintroduced and things are quietly put into motion, we're getting into the PLOT! Hell yeah!

If you don't mind me replying, I have my own thoughts about this episode, though it correlates with your ideas...

For now, I think whoever gave the scrolls is unimportant. Perhaps it was just some random guy from the 'white lotus' group. I mean as we keep watching these episodes, I really think this group has a lot of things up their sleeves. Maybe they all knew Avatar Roku really well?

About Iroh finding Roku's crown, it bothers me as well, but my speculation suggest that it's the real deal. Perhaps Iroh went to Roku's island and found it by coincidence and recognized it? That wouldn't be too far fetched, then again, it go back to the white lotus group finding it and giving it to Iroh as well...

The deal with Sozin rushing to Roku's aid, I think he had good intentions. I really believe he wanted to save Roku. However, at Roku's weakest hour, Sozin realized what he realized; that if there was no Avatar, his plans could continue, so he just went up and changed his mind. OH and I think Sozin's dragon is blue...>_> <_<

It was truly a good episode. A lot of foreshadowing and definitely a lot of character development for Avatar Roku. It's just sad how he died though. He could have jumped to his dragon and fled, but no...Also, why didn't he stay in the Avatar State for a longer duration? He could have totally stopped the volcano... OH and just another thought, correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Aang stop a volcano as well in Season 1? Anyone else beside me consider that more than a coincidence?

Agh... that's driving me nuts! I wish he'd just side with them already. It's been apparent since the end of the last season. I would LOVE to see Zuko working with the GAang. That would seriously make my day.

(bare with me here guys, work come descent have spell check)
I like the ep well, I agree with the Idea of the white lotus getting the messege to Zuko because there everywhere and Iroh's a high ranking member so he probly has some pull with them.

as for the crown surveying the fire/ash/ MAGMA(!!!) the wife may have grabed it, or she whent back after the iland cooled and found it under the ash, I mean maybe the whole iland being covered to the point ion witch you cant see the house anymore came form a later blast(It has been 112 years since roku).

I belive Iroh got his hands on the crown one of 2 ways

one possibility, he whent there to that ilan over his travles after the death of Luten and just found it and never bother to tell anyone(less likely)

The other would be that Zuko's mother has been to see Iroh. it would make since for her to have it since it was in her family. and that would also exsplan how Iroh knew the whole story that he haddent bother to tell till now

and the whole Idear of Sozin coming to help, I belive he was there to betray him the whole time, he may have been old but he was still the avatar, he knew there would be danger. and when your in danger and a friend helps you think you can make it, not that your friends going to stab you in the back. and that probly what Sozin was thinking(The fire lord blood line is full of trick evil people as we can now determan)

Ya that's been bugging me too about Sozin's crown. How can Ursa visit him if she's in hiding....or whatever? Maybe Sozin got it somehow before the house was completely buried. Or maybe Roku's wife got it before they ran. Speaking of Roku's wife, she really reminded me of Katara. They just looked really alike to me for some reason.

Actually, from what I remember of her voice, it sounded like Frankie Foster from Foster home for imaginary friends, which if you know your casting information, is voiced by the same person for Azula, Grey DeLisle. So if thats correct, then the same person did both of their voices. Besides, whose to say that they cant have the same voice? Vicky the evil babysitter doesnt sound anything like Azula, but they are voiced by the same people. If anyone can prove its not her, then give proof.
