The twins looked over in the direction that Caleb was going before the two of the darted along after him, wanting to continuing playing. Any sad thoughts were lost to them as they saw the cool toy cars and their tails set to wagging, "Wow! Cool!" They both said in unison, kneeling down so that they could pick up some of the cars and looked them over.
"I like this one so I'm gonna play with it!" Uri said, holding up a brightly colored Corvette.
"Then I will use this one." Lucius said as he choose the cop car as his favorite.

Caleb grinned happily and picked up a firetruck. "Look! Firet'uck!" He settled himself onto the floor and started pushing his own car around, making plenty of noises to go with it.

The twins were soon playing along with Caleb and the room was filled with all sorts of very, very loud car sounds from the trio of puppies playing with them. The twins were racing along the floor as fast as they could crawl with one had on the cars they were playing with, careful not to fall over.
"These cars are great!" The twins said, with a giggle before the Corvette escaped from Uri's grasp and went rolling away. He scrambled after it then gave a squeak when it went under the small crack between the door and the floor.
"My car escaped!" He squeaked.

Caleb was having a lot of fun as time flew and they played with the cars. Until the Corvette decided to escape. "Uh oh!" Caleb darted to the door and tried to work his fingers under the door, but he couldn't get them through.
Frowning, Caleb stood and reached for the door handle to open the door and retrieve the car when it turned on its own. Startled, the boy backed up as the door opened to reveal Riordan standing in the doorway. He smiled at the trio of puppies and held up the car. "I believe one of you lost this..."

The twins hovered over Caleb, watching him as he tried to reach the car that had escaped out from under the door of the playroom. They were equally as surprised, maybe more by the appearance of Riordan as they didn't expect him to come in and didn't know him. Both looked ready to bolt for the safety of the tent when they saw the car in his hands.
"I-I lost it." Uri said, stepping closer to his twin so that he could hold onto him and Lucius clung to his brother in turn.
"Thanks for getting it." Lucius said.

Caleb however grinned and hugged the man's legs. "Thanks Daddy!" He took the car and turned to hand it to his friends. Riordan smiled at the boys, then ruffled the hair on his own kid's head.
"I know you've been having fun, Caleb, but it's time to leave now." Caleb frowned as these words entered his ears. "Do we have to, Daddy?" Riordan chuckled. "It's getting close to dinner time and unless you want Daddy2 to cook..."
Caleb's eyes grew in size. "Nonono." He ran over and put the car away, then headed back to the man, pausing to tell the twins goodbye. "Bye, bye. I hope your Mommy comes soon! Maybe we can play again!"

Uri and Lucius seemed to relax a bit when Caleb referred to the man as 'Daddy'. That meant that he wasn't scary if their friend liked him right? Their tails wagged a little and Uri reached forward to get the car from the man, "Thank you." He said, before retreating back a few steps.
The twins both looked rather sad when they heard the man announce that it was time for Caleb to leave. They were having so much fun with their new friend!
"Yes, I am sure she will come soon..." Uri started
"... and when she does we will play again." Lucius added.
Then both said in unison, "We can't wait until then! Bye Caleb!"

Caleb nodded. "Okay!" He waved to the twins, then took Riordan's hand and started to leave. The man waved to the twins as well before closing the door to the playroom, unsure if they were as escape-happy as Caleb had been...

When the door closed after their friend the two boys looked at one another before they moved quickly gathering up various different toys before they returned to hiding in the tent that they had built. They were much more perked up though, the meeting of the new friend having bolstered their spirits.
