Sunset
She was afraid.
So afraid, Liberty had not gone to hunt in almost three days now, and instead relied on what little food was around the small cave.
But, afraid of what? That was a simple question, with an answer that seemed simple on the outside: Her human had not woken up since five sunsets ago. No matter how much the young female tried to coax the beloved but fragile man from his uninterrupted and unexpected slumber, he would not wake.
For the first two days, Liberty had been sure it was just a temporary thing. But after that, she felt the dark cloud of encroaching hopelessness take over her mind. She could no longer stand to leave him in what she believed to be his last moments.
Many times Liberty had thought of leaving the cave to seek help for him, but every time her rationality spoke through, and she was unable to leave. Even if she did leave the comatose human, she did not know where to go to find someone who could bring him out of this spell.
Now she lay curled up by his nearly inanimate side, her head lying on his stomach. His chest barely moved with each shallow, slow breath- So barely, many times Liberty had to lift her head and place her ear on his chest to make sure he was even alive at all.
She had managed to, grabbing his strange, rough fur in her mouth, shifted him to near the cave entrance so that they may both look out into the forest. Even if he was only there in spirit. Even if he wasn't there at all. Either way, Liberty felt comforted knowing that the human could see the serenity of the forest.
Today, to her, it seemed that even the sun itself was dying in a bath of blood. The man wouldn't suffer a tragic fate, nor a beautiful one like the sun did. Neither would he resurrect himself as the sun did. But they both died at some point.

Out of the crimson light of the setting sun came a savior.
Tare wound through the sky, twisting and slithering in the air like the most graceful of all serpents. He could feel the life force in the forest below, stretching out beneath him, but as he swept over a small area he felt a twang, something wrong. A lone human, he could feel it, and a young lunar... and the human was...
The human was dying!
Tare swept downward and set down smoothly in the forest, sniffing. He could smell both human and kyn, though his nose wasn't the best of all Kyns'. He moved through the forest and at last stepped out in front of the cave. "Ah..." At the sight of Liberty and her master, he frowned and slunk forward. "Greetings... oh, no, he's so far gone..." He moved to the human's side and nudged at the comatose man with his nose. "What happened here?"

The young female wasn't paying attention until she saw something in the sky. At first she thought it was a bird, but then it appeared to be an elegant, winding snake.
Then it came even closer- And she recognized it as an unknown Kyn. She felt the fur on the back of her neck rise as the Kyn came back into view. Much, much larger than herself, it was apparently full grown.
The other Kyn immediately came up to her and her beloved human without a care in the world. Quickly she let out a growl and pulled the human's rough fur, dragging him away from the much larger Kyn.
"Who are you, and why are you asking about my human?"

Tare winced as the young one pulled the human's hair. "Now stop that, you'll hurt him..." From between his small wings a rabbit hopped down, wielding a paintbrush. It was white and brown, quite cute, but had a pentacle set glowing into the fur of its belly. "Hal," murmured the dragon, "have a look at the human for me... I need to start drawing energy to heal him."
The rabbit nodded. "Will do." As Tare slunk back outside to beseech the surrounding forest to lend him its life energy, Hal hopped up to the human and began to sniff at him, hopping around to press a little paw to his head, then one of his large, floppy ears. "Mmm... how long has he been this way?" His last comment was addressed to the young Lunar.

Liberty immediately dropped the human's hair as though it was on fire.
After a moment, she felt another feeling above her defensive instincts- She felt that if this was the only one to save him, the young lunar would have to tolerate it.
"I don't know...Maybe seven or eight sunsets? Please! Can you help him!" The youngling resisted the urge to wail at the top of her immature voice, her nose twitching and starting to run slightly in anguish. Liberty didn't want her human to die! He was like air, or like her heart- She had to have her precious bonded to live and not fall into despair.

Hal hopped over the human and went to pat Liberty's nose gently. "Sssh," murmured the magical familiar, "It's quite alright." Hal was not the average familiar. He was not just a rabbit familiar, he was Oestre's Bunny, a messenger of the gods. He had bonded with Tare after they had met and spoken with one another. "Look... Tare is a necromancer, and I'm quite sure he can help your Bonded. Look..."
The rabbit lifted his paintbrush and began to run it through the air, forming wonderful, glowing designs hanging without a canvas. First was an image in red of Tare, and blue arrows swirling in toward his body. "Tare is going to collect life energy from the trees and creatures of the forest once he... ah, explains the problem to them. It's not like telling them what's going on so much as asking the land to lend him her power so that he can save a life."
The rabbit brushed through the image and it dissipated, and then he drew again, Tare in red with a core of blue energy, and the human in white, lying prone. "I found the places where his energy is escaping... it looks like he's dying of grief, but I'll leave that up to you two..." He dotted a few points in black where the human's life force was seeping out and images of blue arrows flowing out of them. "Then, Tare will transfer the energy he took from the land in through those holes and seal them." Arrows came from Tare's body in the image and flowed into those black points, and then the black was sealed over with white. A core of blue appeared in the human and it stood up before Hal swiped through it all with the brush. "So now do you understand? You are his closest family I can see... we need you to okay this first."

The youngling spit her reply all at once: "Of course! Anything to help him!"
She had never heard of...whatever that fuzzy, long-eared thing was. But the pictures...Liberty wanted to try and draw herself, and show the human when he woke up! Now his recovery seemed so much more hopeful, not bleak like it had been just an hour ago.
For a moment, the Lunar wondered if she could do the same thing: The healing, that is. But she backed away about a foot, giving the two room to work around the human. She'd give anything to save him- Even knowledge.

The rabbit moved along the human's body, painting spots on him in various places, and then at last Tare returned. "Alright... stand back," he murmured, and then he closed his eyes and raised his upper body, bringing his front claws forward. He began to swing them in slow circles and then crossed them, weaving the magics outward. A shimmer rippled through the air and then slowly, very slowly, color began to return to the human's face. One by one, the painted spots disappeared.
As the last dot disappeared, Tare leaned forward and exhaled over the human's face, then hissed a soft canto. The human glowed brightly for a moment with the light magic, and was revived! Tare clambered back slowly, watching to make sure he would sit up. "There you are... That went well, didn't it, Hal?" He turned his head to eye the rabbit.
"Yes! I think so. You didn't accidentally kill him and revive him as a zombie, that's an improvement over last time!"
"That was YOUR fault. You failed to tell me he was dead!"
"Yeah, yeah..."

(...LAWL. *head-desks!* I read that as Glasses had died and come back as a zombie. I about freaked out. xd Larisha = Stupid.)
Liberty eagerly watched the delicate procedure of putting dots on the human. She seemed to shake and wiggle with horrible fear and excitement at the same time. Please, please, let this work! She whimpered as softly as she could, eyes watering slightly.
When she saw the Asian Dragon breath over him, she wondered if that by itself would help him. She knew her answer when, after he breathed, the human didn't stir. Believing that it hadn't worked, she inhaled deeply...
And then a light glow engulfed his body, and his dark grey eyes flickered open!
Immediately Liberty danced around to his front and licked his face comfortingly, whispering to him how worried she had been for him and how much she loved him in the Kyn language. He gasped softly, surprised at her appearance. Although he could not see his little female lunar, the Human knew that it could be none other than the red, white and blue youngling. Naturally one of his thin hands stroked her head soothingly, as the (now glasses-less for the moment) man peered around, trying to make something out of the blurry shapes.
He did notice that there was something huge in front of him- And immediately the human cringed away. "Who..who are...?" In his daze, he didn't seem entirely able to speak.
Liberty had almost forgotten about who had done all this! She whirled around and launched herself at the rabbit and dragon in turn, showering them both in licks. "Thank you so much for saving him! Thank you...Thank you!" For many minutes she continued her lively celebrating of her human's renewed life.
(*does a Kirby dance of joy! x3*)

The large red blur coughed softly and raised his head. "I am Tare, son of Lorne. My rider is Ganon Firenight. I sensed you slipping away... but you should be well now. Try not to injure yourself for a while."
Hal, pushing the puppy-snout away as best he could with his tiny rabbit arms, added, "Or ever. Generally never a good idea."
"Hal, don't be snarky. In any case, you didn't seem to be injured, so no additional healing should be necessary. If you don't need anything else... damnit, I'm already late. Asayake will be so cross... excuse me, I really have to fly. Feel free to visit us any time, we live near the greater of the two lakes, on the western side." He clambered back hurriedly, waving with one claw as Hal jumped up between his small wings, and then he drifted into the sky, apparently off to find this 'Asayake'.

As soon as Liberty felt herself being pushed away, she immediately hopped over to her human's side, licking his cheek with furious enthusiasm.
In his state at the moment, he wasn't able to get a word in edge-wise, between their conversation and the little Lunar that was drooling all over him, until the Asian dragon was already flying off. The man finally realized what had happened, and called after him, "Wait! Have you seen a silver lunar that responds to Tsukikaijuu anywhere!?"
But he let out a soft 'gah' noise as the dragon and rabbit disappeared into the sky.
The youngling had been too busy paying attention to her human's physical health to notice that he was talking about another Kyn. Maybe later, when she grasped more of the human language, she would learn about the Moon Monster...
(:3! Thank you for roleplaying with me. And saving Glasses' life. )
