The Feed Sony BMG's head of litigation testified before the jury that making copies of purchased music is just "a nice way of saying 'steals just one copy.'" That’s right, according to Sony, even if you legally purchase the music, you are not allowed to makes copies under any circumstance. That means, Sony considers transferring songs to iPods and Zunes “stealing.” They would prefer you re-buy the music for every format you want it in. So you buy it on CD, then re-buy it as an mp3 for your iPod, then re-buy it for your Zune, then re-buy it if you want to copy it for a friend, re-buy it to stick on a personal mixtape CD, and so on. Does that makes sense…or make Sony a bunch of greedy bastards?
I told You so.....

It's the counter extreme to the people that believe music should be free. They aren't greedy.
I mean from an economic stand point he's right. Distributing music, or any copy-righted material, in any form or fashion is technically taking away from sales and pirating. I mean there is a reason there are those FBI warnings.
Most people that rip music tend to give their friends copies. Amongst certain age groups those friends won't buy the music.
However where the argument breaks down is that a vast majority of music sucks anyways.

Canis Lupus the LoneWolf I wanna find something I've wanted all along.... Plus, what major company doesn't want your money? lol ....Somewhere I belong
I know that but this is going a little far now.
I LEGALLY bought the song/cd. I have to buy it AGAIN to rip it to my PC, then AGAIN to put it on my Zune/iPod/Sansa/Samsung (Or four times over for those of you how have....all of them......), then I have to buy it AGAIN to put it on a personal CD, I have to buy it AGAIN to put it on an SD card, I have to buy it AGAIN to put it on my PS3/Wii/360(or three times for all three), and so on and so forth.
If it was bought illegally, good luck finding them, and if you do, charge their a**, but if it was bough, the whole nine yards, it's my merchandise, mine to do with. As long as Im not selling copies to kids on the corner, it's mine to do with.

I wanna find something I've wanted all along.... You're taking it a bit too literally. Like Blues said, it's just the counter extreme to people that think music should be free. ....Somewhere I belong

The way Sony put it, Music should be only for the hardcore music fans who are willing to spend that much time to get what they want on what they have.....

Daxel, I'm sure Nintendo would love to make it where you'd have to buy a Wii to get a wiimote.
Microsoft would love it if you had to buy a new Vista or XP pack to install it.
Toshiba would love it if you had to buy a DVD player per DVD.
It's just a counter extreme to the pirates. This is far tamer then the people that believe that everything should be free.

Ace Paladin Damn, I thought Microsoft was bad. D: I take it you don't remember the internet explorer update that locked people out of Firefox, and the first shipment of Vista locking out firefox. The first requiring instructions on how to uninstall the update. The second that was fixed with a patch.

A lot of media has the legal stipulation that you can not make "backup or archival copies" of said media. Its all in the fine print.
