What would be a good Sub Job for a summoner in a party

I've never seen a smn use any other sub than whm.

WHM : you have a great mp pool from being a smn, use this sub to be a sub healer and raise ppl in case of being a main healer. Also for reraise when you're soloing.

BLM : ok, you have a big mp pool. Sry, ppl will never invite you seeing you're even more useless than a mnk or thf in valkurm dunes. I've never got this myself, but i have a friend who got this reply.

RDM : ppl will say you're crazy. what good is sub rdm anyway since it's even worse than whm sub.

BLU : same as rdm but even more useless.

-.-" I hate it when people write off jobs like this. Its just makes the game more crappy all round.

I have a summoner friend (now 75) who went smn/blm through the dunes because he didn't want to be asked to heal. He still got his party invites. Of course things have changed now since the dunes is a lot less populated than in "the good old days". And I do agree that /whm is generally accepted to be the best choice for smn, and I'd recommend you take it razz But if you want to go /blm... hell why not?

As for Mnk and Thf - Mnk remains a good tank (provided they are /war) until ~lvl25. They are especially handy for second vokes and backing up ninja tanks at these low lvls.
I also don't see how Thf is any worse than any other job at dunes lvl. None of the jobs have access to any powerful abilities, or good weapons/armour (personally I off tanked for my pt as thf/war until 16, but that might just be me being me >.<" ). Why would you take (for example) a drk over a thf? I don't understand that.

If you're looking for a sub for SMN, you should go for something that will help your MP pool, since that will be one of your biggest concerns. RDM, BLU, PLD, and DRK can do this, but not nearly as well as WHM or BLM. WHM tends to be preferred, because your HP regens when WHM hits 25 (combined with MP regen at 25 (SMN trait) it makes for a powerful mage job) and the additional ability to heal is usually preferred. WHM will also come in handy if you plan to fight those mini-avatar battles at level 20. Being able to buff yourself with Protect and Aquaveil are pretty important for those battles.

I'm sorry.... but I see a guy who's a pt leader said this to the smn/blm who asked if he could join a pt and it was like 4 years ago when valkurm dunes is still crowded in my server.

The fact is, /blm has even more mp than /whm but it's quite useless in a pt than a whm so personally i wouldn't recommend it.

btw... a thf is the mob's tp pool... they hit fast, and with little damage although the dmg from SA or TA is deadly.

a drk hits slow but with massive dmg would be better in most ppl's view.
