I am so sorry I haven't been around here for awhile (NaNoWriMo is kicking my butt). NaNoWriMo stands for national novel writing month, and it is an online program that has spread into different forum and even schools that challenges peoply to write 50,000k word during the month of November (they have different programs for children so a first grader for example isn't expected to write a novella, just like a children's story). This is I think the seventh ime they have done it and the third year I'm participating (2005 I made it but not last year). Check it out at http://www.nanowrimo.org.

I don't have that kind of focus. Best of luck to you, though!

I'm still not sure wether I'm going to do it this year or not. I did it last year, and I reached the goal, but I might skip it this year. I've got stuff I want to actually spend time with, rather than just ploughing through something for quantity. Then again, it might be a good time to start a stream of consciousness project.

It is so nice to just write and worry about everything else later; Otherwise, I tend to be such a perfectionist I never get anything down (I still can't spell) I came close last year with 49,000+ (very frustrating to not reach 50k) but the year prior I made it. I have no ideas yet for what to write. If you decide to try again, I'll help you stay motivated!

It's interesting, last year I found that getting to 45k was the hardest part, and after that it was like cresting the roller coaster; the last 5k practically flew by. It may also have been the swiftly approaching deadline, though. I tend to up gears under pressure. stressed

The two years previous, I manged to pull it offpetty well ('06 I was done before Thanksgiving but last year I just could plow through that last 10k(I just sat staring at it for about two weeks) and by the time I hit that final burst of energy, I couldn't type fast enough sweatdrop That was a bitter failure. It concerns me slightly already that I'm still at a total loss of ideas. I don't want to have to cheat and submit to fanfiction. It does help having motivators though!
I hope we have Earth week before November hits or my computer time will be torn.

If you can, it's probably a good idea to register early. The beginning of November will be a busy time for their website. Hopefully they can handle the traffic this year. I think I'll do it this year. I just logged onto my account (DSJyarn) and saw that blue wordcount bar. Just looking at it made me want to fill it up.
