The Last Song, The Last War
The year 2307: over the past 300 years of human history, many advances had been made in medicine, technology and relations with nations across the globe. The cure for most of the diseases that plagued mankind years ago have been cured, such as cancer, but few new diseases had been found. In technology, virtual reality had been created around the year of 2019, but had not become a near replacement for life until around 2030 when it was used for various objectives. Other technologies had been created as well, but most were either ones that solved the crisis of the environment or created new weapons for war. The political relations with nations had, for the most part, strengthened the bond between them than pull them apart.
For about a century, from 2113 to 2205, the world was at peace with one another and economy grew all over the place. One of the by products of such was the ability to create full artificial intelligence, beings that thought and acted as humans, but did not have a heart, brain or soul to speak of. Many of these robots, called androids, were upgraded and used as servants. When a newer model came out that was much more high-tech, the owners would either send the robots to the scrap yard, or let them live amongst the humans.
The century of peace broke when the nuclear missiles of a European country were set off and hit Antarctica, the Indian Ocean, Africa, Russia, and the border between the United States and Canada. In the treaty that was signed for peace, all countries were supposed to have destroyed all of their weapons, including nuclear missiles. One country did not do so and, as it was later proven, purposely struck other countries. Those countries that had a long and faithful alliance with the European country stayed with it, all others who were either attacked or offended, attacked the alliance. There were few who did not attack and the world was broken into three alliances: the UNP (United Nations for Peace), NOE (Nations Of Earth) and TAE (Territories of Allianced Europe).
The world was basically destroyed from the roots up. Wars were fought in the air, on land and at sea. The only safe place was the space station that was orbiting Earth, but only after three years of the war did one of the nations misfire and hit the space station. The one billion living there were killed in mere moments. Following that, the neutral nations were beginning to be attacked and they could only fight back. After twenty years of fighting, the war ended when the population of Earth became only a fraction of what it once was. At the beginning of the war, there were about 15 billion humans. At the end of the third World War, there were only five billion left.
From 2225 to 2297, there was peace again, but people were always suspicious of each other and it wasn’t uncommon for others to shoot each other in the middle of town, stating the other was a spy. There were many revolutions, more verbal than physical, but by 2297, a fourth war sprung up. The onset of the war wasn’t too clear, but most agreed afterwards that it was caused by the great untrust between nations and the various killings of representatives from other nations in other countries. This war lasted nearly seven years before the leaders of nations realized that the human race had dwindled down to the sum of about 500 million.
From 2304 to 2306, the world had begun to rebuild itself. The people worked hard and the nations leaders slowly began to trust each other again, despite the constant possibility of a fifth and final war, a war that would kill off the human race for good. The androids that were built before both wars had managed to survive; they were used in the previous war, but the general population only knows that all were destroyed. Only a handful remains and those who had mechanical implants to help with medical problems, cyborgs, had pretty much become a rare species on its own. Their numbers are slightly higher than those of androids, being in the fifties, but low still.
In 2307, the economy had begun to grow, the population was increasing around the globe and leaders were becoming more trusting, but not too trusting. Secretly, leaders were sending spies to other alliances to find out what they were thinking and doing. Most of the time, the spies never met one another, but when they did, well, no one really knows for sure. The idea of sending spies to check on other countries is unknown in origin, but some speculate that nearly each alliance is sending them; either in parties, or alone.
Recently a large organization was sprung up just before then end of 2306. The organization consisted of those who had good relations with others before the forth war as well as having large sums of money. Their goals were simple: help those of earth by any means necessary. Which meant, they would donate money, organize for people to help other nations out and keep peace between other nations. The organization’s name was HOPE.
