A'ight. Let's see if your mind works like mine.
So we all know waterbenders can freeze water. So I got to wondering if they could boil water as well, or, more importantly, could the boiling provide heat? What conclusion would you come to, and why?

...Hm.
Well, I'd say that yes, they could boil water. After all, they often convert ice into water. So, scientifically speaking, waterbending as far as freezing/unfreezing goes is just the manipulation of H20 particles, and they can both make them more compact (freezing) and less compact (unfreezing). So, therefore, they should THEORETICALLY be able to boil the water, which is just making the water particles even less compact.
(...I get around 95% in Science usually... xD)
The only thing that doesn't quite compute about that is that to boil water, you need an energy source. For freezing, it's more like a LACK of energy source... do you get what I mean?
But then, there's the unfreezing... So, yeah, I'm not entirely sure, but I'd say that YES, boiling water is possible.
I just realized that they can create steam/mist, so of COURSE they can boil water. D'oy. After all that musing...
As far as maybe being stranded in a frozen wasteland and needing warmth, I'm not sure if they could use the steam given off for heat... I mean, theoretically, none of us control heat, but we can still absorb it.
It's a very good question. xD;
