Setting Description:

The Plaza of the Common Platform is a huge circle of shimmering pale stone patterned in a vortex-like symbol, with a towering fountain statue at its center. The statue, created by some long dead or moved on artist, was said to be a close likeness of the Lady of Cerxes - that would be true if the lady of Cerxes had a four sided head, nine tails, and devils sprouting from her hands. Thankfully most of the figure was shrouded in the crystalline water spray of the fountain.

Lining the circle's edges are the many myriad of shops and stalls, colorful tents and assorted displays of the common merchant. Trade was not so busy nor were the goods quite so exotic as the fortress' Commerce Platform's, but it was still rather crowded even in the fading afternoon. The largest building off of the circle is the Worldspanner's Inn - which provides the long established welcome and adjustment assistance to new Outsiders. The Peace keep an eye on the plaza and the outlying residential areas... although their numbers are somewhat thinned lately, the plaza is generally a safe place to be due to the large amount of people there.

Past the Plaza Circle, the grand steps lead up to the Greater Commons, where the laws are far looser and less understood than those of the Lesser Commons. Guardians of each faction patrol of their own accord, looking for any excuse to cause trouble for their opponents. The Justice resides there as well, his tower looking down upon the Arena of Truth, where many men go to fight to defend themselves against their accusers, and where many less of them return.

Fortress Cerxes, not long after Danique's arrival....

My my.... so... you have found out the truth. Death.... what a pity.

You! I should have known you had something to do with this!

Erinia: Tsk tsk... already blaming me on sight for your own sad woeful mishap? And here I was come to you, with my hand extended in friendship, ready to selflessly offer my help. Despite our past differences...

Danique: Your help? I'd sooner reach out for a snake than accept your hand in friendship. You can't deceive me so easily as you once did.

Erinia: Deceive? I? No no, dear... of course you have it all wrong. I have always been your friend, from the start... but you allowed others to turn you away from me. But I am willing to let these things pass. I still care about you, and your friends even, misguided as they are.

Danique: I've heard enough. You mock everything we went through even now. *turns to go*

Erinia: Do you know where Dezrek is? Right now... I do. He's alive Danique. You won't find him here. I'm the only one who can help you now.

Danique: *hesitates* You lie... as usual, your promises are empty. I won't be a fool again... I will never need your help.

Erinia: Suit yourself. But I will be here waiting when you change your mind.... and you will, you know.

Danique: ...

Erinia: Hmph... *smiles*

RP Session One: The Scales of Justice

Setting Info

Thundering black skies just on the horizon had been threatening a downpour all afternoon. As evening approached the spectacular lightshow continued its display, but the storm stayed far enough from the floating fortress that it promised to be a very warm, but dry, night.
The recent influx of new Outsiders was unusual for this time of year - unusual as anything can be on a plane like Serendipity - and most of the citizens of Cerxes speculated that likely the higher ups were playing their games.

They paid little heed to the man with the rather unkempt appearance, yet quite ordinary look who had been hanging around the plaza all day. Everyone took notice, however, when a young girl, tears streaming, threw herself down in the center of the plaza, at the foot of the towering monstrosity of a fountain.

"They took him!" She cried other words but the girl was so choked up it was hard to make them out. Her display had the affect that some of the people passing through the plaza stopped and stared, while others hurried on even faster to their destinations.

Blakelys Manglory
A slow smile spreads across the unkempt man's features as he watched the young girl throw herself to the ground sobbing. It wasn't an act, but it was definitely a part of the play. Not even that difficult really.... his eyes flicked a glance towards the woman who was pausing in the plaza on her way back to her room.

Right on time.

The truth was that Rebecca was beginning to find this world tedious. She was a woman who thrived on action and intent, on knowing her place and her duty. So having no idea of any of this she was feeling something, and there was only one word to describe it.

Bored.

So she had chosen the busiest place possible to spend her time, watching the people going by, waiting; she was not waiting too long, really, before her patience was rewarded.

Still, she was cautious, and watched the girl for a moment. Cool and calm and military she may be, but she was not unsympathetic, and slowly stood.

"Who took who?" was all she said, steely brown eyes narrowed on the sobbing girl.

Danique Espirenze
Another one... every day there seemed to be some new injustice or cry for help in this strange city. While she hadn't ignore the other incidents, Danique had quickly learned she could do little to help. It seemed the laws here ended at the steps which led up to the Greater Commons.

But this girl... something about her tugged at Dani's heart. They took him... someone she cared about. Against her better judgement Danique felt herself stopping to listen. All week she had been trying very hard to gain an audience with the Grand Counselor of the Dragons... she had heard they knew great and powerful wizards who had the ability to travel the Planes. Her efforts were starting to pay off, just today she had received a private message from a man who was connected to Lord Padin, one of the greater servants to the Draconarch. She should be avoiding trouble.... but still.

Kimaya
A mop of brown curly hairs partially obscured the young girl's face, as she turned her eyes, filled with tears, towards the first voice she heard.

"My--my....Brother!" She sobbed; her face was a mess and she looked completely wretched. "They said he... that we...Oh!..." the girl began to cry again, and for a few moments it was difficult to hear a single word she said. But finally, it was apparent that there had been some accusation against her family, and that her brother was to face Justice in the arena. Whatever that meant...

Just as she collapsed again, a man appeared close by, older and stooped. He spat in her direction. "Thats what ye's gets for turning yer noses up at me offer.... goit aboves yerselves and now ye pay good. Yes.... ye pay'n good, dearie." He began to laugh but it quickly turned to coughing, a dry and ill sound.

Zoe Katernon
She couldn't help thinking that she was dreaming, but at the same time, everything just looked so real.

"Too real" she thought to herself, immediately dismissing the idea. She knew what dreams felt like, and this wasn't it. Where the heck was she, then?

Zoe had her fair share of waking up in strange places. Most of the time, this was the result of a long night of drinking beforehand. This time felt different. Everything felt cold somehow, and empty. She definitely didn't have a hangover. She wasn't even in a bedroom. In fact, she didn't remember leaving a bedroom, or ever waking up. She was just here, standing... in this place.

The area she was standing in reminded her very much of where she should have woken up, but things were obviously out of place. Most notably, the inhabitants... she didn't recognize anyone. Or did she?

The cold, empty silence was interrupted by some kind of scream, a feminine one. It snapped her out of her haze as if she was flipping on a light switch. At that moment, it didn't matter where she was. If someone was in trouble, she needed to help them, and quickly. That was the important thing now.

Zoe broke into a run, attempting to reach the scream's origin as quickly as she could. She instinctively reached behind her to grasp the hilt of her sword as she ran, but came up empty. Her sword wasn't there! She should have noticed sooner, as the weight of it was absent, but she was preoccupied, apparently.

Shaking her head and telling herself that it didn't matter, Zoe continued running and finally came upon some sort of plaza, and slowed down to a walk as she appraised the area. Now that she was closer to the sound, she realized it might actually be more like crying rather than screaming...

Feeling a quickening rouse of anxiousness, Zoe approached the sobbing girl.

Cartagia
"Crying won't help your brother," Rebecca said, straightforward and calm. "Stand up and dry your eyes, that's the first thing you can do to aid him." She was about to offer her hand when the man said his piece; she narrowed her eyes at him, but decide for now to ignore him, he was not worth her time. This girl needed some strength not more cause for upset and emotion.

Danique Espirenze
So... it was to be the arena for her brother. And the Contraption. Danique had already learned about the Contraption. It had been a travelling menace to the skies surrounding Cerxes for some time. Captured finally, by exploiting a weakness in its physical makeup, the Contraption was now used to test the rightness of those who went to defend themselves in the Arena against whatever wrong they were accused of by the law of Cerxes. One Justice Maelvorak. Without having been to the Greater Commons at the time of the posting of the trial, there was no way to know who the accuser was, or what the crime was unless they could hear it from this girl.... it could even be one of the Draconarch's men who had been the accuser.

Danique frowned when she saw the altercation between the old man and the girl. She did not realize she had gotten so close... but she could smell the foul stench of rotted cloth and sickly sweat coming off of him. I shouldnt get involved... this is their way. She thought, but she was bending down to the girl now. The strong woman standing off to the side was right, this wouldn't help anyone. But what could they do... what should they do. How long had it taken her to run to the commons. Was the battle over yet?

Kimaya
Danique watched as the girl tried to get a hold of herself, being helped to her feet. She wanted to say something to soothe her, but soft words no longer came easy to her, and she would have felt empty saying them. Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention and Danique noticed the dark haired man watching the proceedings. Blakely... she held the scowl back from her face, just barely. The man was everywhere she went. She knew he was watching her for Erinia.

Finally, the girl seemed to come around.... and she began to talk haltingly of Lord Corvoran's niece. It was her birthday this Zenith. Apparently, the niece's hand had been refused by their Lordship, who had given her a token golden charm as way of apology... the sigil of the Fernflower.

The sobbing girl's family had by unfortunate chance offered to sell some of their fernflowers to the niece as she passed by in her Palanquin in the Greater Commons. When Lord Corvoran heard of it, he felt it was a grievious insult.

He was to give his niece a present on her birthday by way of having the man defend his crime in the Arena against the Contraption.

"So... it isn't happening right now..." Danique said under her breath. But it was truly useless. Lord Corvoran wasn't a servant to the Draconarch, but he was a powerful man. One of the infernals...

"Oh please.... someone will help me?" The girl was shaking, but mostly in control of herself now as she looked around at the interest she had managed.

Danique turned towards the woman who had spoken first, and spoke quietly aside to her. "Her brother is in the hands of the Justice. There is little we can do..." Frowning Danique considered the sturdy, and capable looking woman. She didn't recognize her. "Are you an outsider?"

Zoe Katernon
Wow, more people.

Perhaps this place wasn't as empty as she had thought. Somewhat cautiously, she approached the odd scene...

There was an old man, a sobbing young girl, a beautiful young lady, and a female guard who wasn't bad on the eyes, either. At least, she thought the woman was a guard. She didn't recognize the attire but it did look military or something similar. Not too far removed from what she was wearing, herself. With Zoe's bob-cut black hair, dark skin, and military attire, it would be easy to mistake her as a man if she never talked... and if she wasn't so damned hot, she snickered to herself.

"Hey!" she casually called out to the group.

"Guard lady, is there like, something inappropriate going on here?"

she emphasized the word, "inappropriate" by making quotation marks with her fingers.

"I can totally help if you need any assistance..."

"Creepy old guy..." she muttered under her breath, glancing nervously at the man from a distance.

Cartagia
"What do you think?" Rebecca replied rather more sharply than she had intended, sizing up the young woman who was talking to her now. She looked like a noble; sort of. Not the kinds of nobles that she was used too, but her clothes were too fine to be anything else really.

"I am Rebecca Portan, if it's really important to know," she continued. "What in the universe is 'the justice'? A court of some kind? So her brother is a criminal.." She turned back to the girl. "If your brother has committed some crime he should face the consequence of it."

Blakelys Manglory
Blakely enjoyed watching the scene unfold, but mostly watching Danique's inner struggle and difficulty at dealing with things there was nothing she could do much about. Over the years he had grown so tired of her good fortune in managing to stay a step ahead while still uncompromising her worthless principles. It would be fun watching her have to make those little sacrifices. This would be a catch 22 for him.

She had seen him. Good. It was time to make his move. Sauntering over with a feigned look of sympathy Blakey drew himself up to the scene. This wasn't his favorite part to play, but it was better than all the skulking around he had been doing lately.

Kimaya
"But! Oh.... but we didn't mean to insult his Lordship! Truly... if we had known that the fernflower would offend his niece we would never have so much as thought about importing it!" The girl began to wring her hands... and she looked to the dark haired girl with the bob cut. "You will help me? Yes...? He could use anyone to stand with him! Lord Corvoran claimed any man may step into the Arena to help him defend his honor!" She sniffled miserably.

Danique nodded to the woman, of course she would be an Outsider. "The Justice... he is the law here in Cerxes". Turning to the fierce looking boy-girl, she cautioned, "This man's life is as good as forfeit. Even with the clock set to the shortest time, which is just shy of three minutes, there is no way he can survive against the Contraption. Any normal man who steps into that Arena with him should consider their life up as well." Danique frowned over the unusual phrase... What in the Universe. But then, it made more sense now... than before.

Zoe Katernon
"Wait, what? I thought you were the guard!" she spoke to the supposed guard-woman with a confused look on her face, the turned to scrutinize the man.

"Unless creepy old guys get to make all the rules in this place, anyway."

She crouched over to talk to the crying girl.

"Don't worry" she spoke to her, placing a hand on her shoulder and smiling.

"i'm sure we'll figure something out. Whoever's at fault here, some old guy antagonizing kids isn't cool in my book."

She turned about sharply and stared the man with a stern scowl on her face, then to the noble looking lady...

"Even if it means going into some stupid arena or whatever-" her words stopped short as she remembered.

"Uhm... except that I lost my sword... i'm sure it's around here someplace."

Kimaya
Danique felt herself torn between wanting to join in with the dark haired girl, and by urging her to listen to her. But it would be suicide to go... Danique placed her hand on the girl's arm and drew her back with a look of urgent caution.

"Your sword won't help you against the Contraption. It is not a normal beast of flesh and blood. Clockwork and large as a Dragon, I've not been here long but I've seen it slay full units of armored men with ease. It does not stop... and it cannot be killed."

Cartagia
"The law, hmm," Rebecca said quietly, almost under her breath, then looked more closely at Danique. "From what platform does this...Justice set the laws? What kind of basis does the power derive from? Democracy, historic or power...or something else?"

The strange woman with the bob spoke then and she looked at her instead.

"I was a guard, on my own world," she explained with a scowl. "One of the best." There was no ego in her tone; she stated it as fact, as certainty.

Zoe Katernon
User Image"A - a dragon?" Zoe paused, her cool exterior obviously disturbed. "Seriously?"

"Wait, do you mean 'like a dragon' or just 'a Dragon'?"

Zoe was no stranger when it came to dragons. She actually knew many of them very well. She knew them well enough to know she was no match for one, no matter how bad-a** she thought she was. If this thing was anything like a dragon...

Her thought process was halted again by another sob from the little girl. She imagined briefly of what she must be going through. She'd been in that place before, and if Zoe could ease her pain in any way, that's what she was going to do. She wouldn't let her down.

Her luck rarely failed her in the past... or at least that's what she convinced herself to believe.

"They probably have extra swords hanging out at the arena, right? I need a pretty big one." She smiled.

Blakelys Manglory
"Yes, the law..." Blakely spoke solemnly, but not bothering to lower his voice. "Basically, the Justice recieves petitions from accusers of a crime from the mightly and powerful. With his wisdom, and the guidance of the Tribune - thats a constellation by the way, which he is said to speak with," Blakely intoned flatly with a raised eyebrow to show what he thought of that nonsense, "He decides a man's guilt. Its not often that the Contraption is brought in to decide the matter, but I guess with the right argument in a petition... well, anything can be bought for a price. Politics".

Blakely had to fight hard not to smirk at Danique's suspicious glare, "My my, looks like the little dragonette's not so fearsome with her claws clipped. And here I thought you'd be leading the charge. Guess whatever you have got going on is more important than helping anyone in need, eh? Hell, I might even like the new you."

Kimaya
Danique's temper flared at Blakely's words but she refused to let the man bait her. Turning back to the girl with the bob cut... a large sword? The girl was serious. "Wait... did you not hear me? The Contraption cannot be killed or stopped... Don't throw your life away recklessly."

"Oh for shame, now we have you trying to turn the girl's only friend away from helping her! Although I couldn't agree more with you, the boy definitely has one dead and messy end in sight," Blakely interjected with a laugh. The young girl began to shake and sob again at Blakely's remarks.

"I did not say we were not going to help... but fighting the Contraption is not the way." But what could they do... an audience with Lord Corvoran would be impossible, the man was an infernal fiend with little interest in the commons, and the Justice... it would take forever to gain an audience. Danique began to think, while at the same time trying not to let Blakely's remarks get to her. She did not have time for this.... if she stopped to help every single person... Dezrek was waiting, there were people waiting for her, who needed her just as much.

Zoe Katernon
User Image"Dude!" Zoe exclaimed, incredulous at the man's words directed at the poor girl"what the hell is your problem? Don't you know how to act like a normal person?"

She then turned to the noblewoman, "Ok, so it's undefeatable... is that a fact, or has just no one defeated it before?"

Zoe was worried. Her mind was racing a mile a second, thinking of what to do. Being a hero is all good and true and everything, but was she really throwing herself to her death here? Her eyes passed over the guardswoman again.

"Well..." she spoke, clearing her throat briefly, "since you're one of the best... what chance do you think you have against this contraptio-majiggy-"

"Wait, did you say 'best from your own world'? What the heck does that mean?"

Captain Portan
Rebecca gave an audiable sigh. This was not her forte at all. She was beginning to regret becoming involved in the first place, now she had to decide were to lay her loyalty - at least for the time being - and none of these people here seemed at all a worthy candidate. Fighting the law? The dark haired woman was utterly insane, the noble lady...seemed uncertain, unsure, and so Rebecca was unsure as well as to her potential to lead, and as for the man who had spoke about the laws well, he looked like a criminal if ever she had seen one. His knowledge of the law was very likely first hand.

"Hmm," she said again, turning back to the girl who had started the subject of this situation. "The truth is who are any of us to challenge law and order of this place? The best thing you can do, young lady, is to pick yourself up and carry on. What happens to your brother is...out of your hands." Unless these foolish people present here decided to try something, but she personally couldn't help but consider it would be the most ridiculous action.

"I really have no idea," she added to the insane woman. "Since I have no idea what the 'contraption' is, except that it may not be of flesh but everything has a weakness; everything can be destroyed if you try hard enough." She declined to answer her second point; it was really irrelevent and she didn't care for idle conversation with mad people.

Kimaya
"I'm not the one with the problem here... and oh, it cannot be killed so far as anyone knows -at least not by a normal man," Blakely emphasized the word while openly staring Zoe up and down with a quizzical expression, "but what the little dragonette here has not bothered to mention is this: Its not expected that you will kill it if you end up in the arena. Just surviving is enough. See, the Contraption was fitted with a windup device, thats how it was tamed. Before the fight, they wind it up to a set time, depending on how heinous the accusations are. The defender just needs to live until times up, so to speak."

"He was given the lowest setting - three minutes... oh please help me! I know if even one person defends him, it will give him a chance to live!" The young girl looks to Zoe with her eyes shining with hope and tears.

Danique finally allowed herself to be drawn in by Blakely's machinations. "So this is what you do for fun? Rile people up enough to get them killed?" She was glaring, but his bland look of disinterest was all she received in reply, and then amazingly, he nodded.

"She's right.... it might be better to try another tactic. Perhaps I can offer a solution... it just so happens my ... lady friend... is an acquaintance of Lord Corvoran".

The sudden cry to attack startled a few people before they realized it was just some children playing nearby, oblivious and carefree.

Zoe Katernon
User Image"Carry on?!? Oh, come on! And you call yourself a guard? Ex-guard? Whatever!" Zoe exclaimed, exasperated.

She took a deep breath and cleared her thoughts, her expression becoming more serious. She wished her dragon was here. His absence truly worried her. She couldn't feel his presence at all. She could still feel her link with him, but it seemed to be disconnected, desperately searching for him. She would have to do this alone, but if she failed... then he would be all alone. Everyone knows what happens to a dragon when their rider dies...

"it's fine, whatever" she finally sighed out. "We don't even know if more than one person can fight this stupid thing anyway, so I guess I'll fight it alone."

She paused again, seemingly caught up in thought, then continued, "There has to be a reason that the arena is there, right? Why would you even be able to fight the thing if it was pointless? Besides, I'm in the right here. I don't know for sure, but... I can feel that it's the right thing to do."

She turned back to glance at the young girl, smiling widely.

"...and that contraption's never faced the wrath of Zoe Katernon before. He's got a big surprise coming."

Captain Portan
Narrowing her eyes ever so slightly, Rebecca glanced away from the girl who now seemed utterly hell bent on finding someone stupid enough to help her unfortunate criminal brother, to the man. She knew manipulation and power-play when she saw it, she was around it often enough if not a participant, and felt her eyes roll of their own accord; she thought that he reminded her of someone she knew, although she couldn't think who it was right now.

She managed to refrain from remarking upon their collective insanity and stayed silent for the moment, waiting to see what would happen next.

Kimaya
Shaking her head with a grimace, Danique turned away from Blakely. "I should have known the instance you appeared that you would have some solution. Of course. What kind of fool do you take me for? I have said it enough times, we will never fight on the same side. And any help you have to offer, the prices are too high, not to mention that I'd have to live with the knowledge that I accepted it!" Spots of color appeared in her cheeks, giving away that she was losing to her fury.

Blakely kept smiling with his bland look of disinterest. Of course she refused... but she would have no choice once all her attempts to save not one, but now two people from their dooms failed. So he said nothing for now, silently thanking the Gods for stupid people like this Zoe Katernon.

Danique knew that the woman named Rebecca Portan was right.... Zoe was going to get herself killed. She had to try to stop this. She opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't think of anything. It was true, there were those who survived the Contraption... but she would not say that now. It would serve no purpose. She had time yet, the Zenith was days off still.

"Oh thank you!! Thank you!!!" The young girl babbled. "My brother.... he's all I have left! I knew you would help me."

"Well, the trial is some days off... perhaps we should get you cleaned up and back to your family. And maybe we could... share dinner perhaps." It would be good to get as many details as possible about the trial, in a less confrontational settings. She tried to include everyone... especially Zoe. There was time to think of a new plan. No matter how hard she tried it seemed that there was always some problem to attend to, someone to help... would she ever get home? She felt selfish and ashamed for thinking it, for feeling so childish. But there was no denying it to herself.

Coughing laughter could be heard coming from the old man as he shuffled away. And Blakely was gone when she turned to look for him. Just as well.

Zoe Katernon
User Image"Oh, the trial's a ways off? I thought it was like, finished already." Zoe breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, that gives us a lot of time to prepare... maybe even to recruit help or something, if that's not against the rules..."

If she was more aware of where she was, maybe she could get word to the Academy. She could have an entire squad down here in no-time flat probably, dragons and all! She decided to ask.

"Oh, by the way, where are we? I don't even know what continent we're on, I've never really been anywhere but 'zandor and Dal'kania. This place doesn't look familiar."

Captain Portan
What would she give to just be home right now? Almost anything. But it was a foolish dream - she could recall her death, more vividly than she wished, and this place...it was not heaven, although it certainly wasn't hell either, but more...a purgatory place. Of course there would be criminals like the man, nobles like the woman and...whatever the insane woman was supposed to be. Insane, she supposed.

And then people like herself.

There was, probably, some reason that she was here. Some purpose to it. She was beat if she knew what it was supposed to be, so far this place had been the height of tedium. At least this little...altercation injected a slight of interest. And she was beginning to learn more about this place, even if it was from the mouths of criminals and madmen. Beggers, she conceeded, could not be choosers.

So she consigned that she would follow this noble lady, at least for now, to see the conclusion of her efforts with the child. Until she worked out why she was here...and how she could leave.

RP Session Two: In Defense of Indifference

Setting Info

A Warship of the Peace... it seemed the destruction had gotten the eye of the Lady herself, not surprisingly. As the winged fiend translocated himself in front of the three Outsiders Danique realized that she was looking at Sky Captain Loresh. The man had a reputation... but also, as chance would have it, he was supposedly one of the only friends that the Justice kept. In any other place the coincidence would have been too much to believe, but here, on Serendipity, coincidence was the normal fare. Just like accidentally selling the very flower to insult a High Lord's niece...

Judgement by the wayside, Danique found herself quickly moving toward the scene, rather than away. She had to talk to him... she had made a promise. And even if the promise had been made as a poor decision, a rather futile gesture, turning away from this chance would make her a liar.

"Captain Loresh..." she spoke hesitantly, as soon as she was within earshot. The man was looking at the white haired woman at the moment, but she saw a flick of his eyes that told her he noted she was there.

Akribos’s hazel eyes narrowed in as she connected the male voice to the aero machine; her eyes flittering quickly from the surroundings to the destruction and the trio that the man seemed to be speaking towards. Furious and frustrated as she still couldn’t seem to recall how she had gotten here or the state of her clothing she decided to take it out on the man as she strode over to the group. Her voice a musical tilt of aggravation as she spoke loud enough for the man to hear, “Who are you? What is this place? And why am I here? And I swear to all of the God’s that I hate that if you do not give me some answers of your own volition that I will get them out of you one way or another.” Akribos wasn’t one to care about subtlety when she wanted answers. She preferred being blunt to being coy any day. And in the state she was in she was more prone to violence then diplomancy. Her eyes barely flittered towards what seemed to be a child, well young adult. The word “captain” had her brow arching as she all but dismissed the girl and waited for the “captain” to respond to her.

Kimaya
Pursing his lips, Laresh paused while the white haired woman said her piece. He wondered if she was human. Probably. A shame really, she had a nice jawline. Still, he wasn't adverse to a human now and again. Maybe playing nice would be more fun than a scuffle. Hard to say, really.

"Just arrived I take it? So, travel by choice or... was it, you know?" he gestured with his free hand as if motioning her to answer. "Death?"

Great... her. He noticed the pale haired human who was calling his name. The last thing he needed was to get involved in anything that was agitating The Lady. He didn't know how a little human could be of such importance to a planar traveller - which the dark woman who was visiting The Lady was reportedly. I mean, what was one ball of dirt to another, worlds came and went, the Planes were eternal. And humans came and went faster than anything else. He decided ignoring her would be best. For now.

"A good question," Dev replied. She -thought- she should be dead, but she clearly wasn't. "But seeing as it wasn't a willing choice to be here, if I had to wager I would say unfortunately option two more than like." Strange that she should end up here if she died though.

Her eyes flickered towards the newest arrival. Oh she was a spunky one.
"My dear, from what I gather here, you, like myself," and she wondered if all of them who had gathered here, "have died and ended up here. Now the question is indeed where here is."

Kimaya
Well, if you don't remember much, then yeah, its probably dead." Too bad, he would have liked to hear how she died. "Dead people end up here all the time, sometimes they do stuff like this when they first arrive. Its sort of expected." He waved the stylus about to indicate the destruction once more.

"Don't worry you aren't in any danger, really, now that we're here." Laresh arched an eyebrow and smiled at how arrogant the comment sounded. It was sure to either grate on her nerves or even provoke her, or perhaps make her think he was a dumbass. Either way, he decided.

Danique drew in a breath with impatience. He had ignored her completely. She should have expected it. But was he now flirting with the new Outsider? She would have to be more direct, moving forward into his line of sight, she said, "Excuse me, Captain Laresh. I..." trailing off she wasn't sure what she had intended to say. He was still ignoring her!

Her growling began to coil up out of her again as she waited for this Captain to respond towards her; her eyes flashing with clear signs of anger. She was demon enough that she despised having to wait for anything. As she was about to spew that anger out towards the man the word, “death” brought her memories to a crashing forefront as her own death replayed itself within her mind. Her features seemed to blank out as she seemed to be lost within a sort of trance. Her eyes beginning to have that glassy doe in headlights look. For several seconds she stood like that, trapped within the torrent of her memories. The others almost fading to white noise.

It was as if it had gotten cold, Akribos’s body physically trembling as she began to come out of her momentary stupor as the pieces began to fall in to place. Her nostrils flared as her mind replayed the woman’s words along with the Captain’s. Akribos’s form seemed to curl in to its self as a draconic scream ripped from her lips as scaly iridescent wings seemed to tear and unfurl out from her back. Her skin shimmering as sporadically placed scales rippled along her body; black as night horns piercing through her sculp; her eyes shifting to that of a serpentine draconic emerald as her wings began to flap within the air, her form lifting in the air with each beat of her wings. Her voice a haunted melodious growl, not really aimed at the woman per say but towards the situation in general but her next words were aimed at the woman regardless, “We? I know not of you but if I have died then this is Hell in some way and this is all a sick twisted joke of Hade’s or Thanatos..” The very thought of Thanatos and Hell caused Akribos to lift further in to the air in vexed fury. Swiftly shifting her attention to the Captain her words were a lot softer and fueled with malevolent rage. “You have very precious time.. Why am I here? Why are we here? What kind of game is this?”

Well well, what an interesting development. Devaena knew well of Hades, and she knew for certain that this wasn't it. She was attuned enough to the energies of her homeplane that no amount of trickery could fool her otherwise. After all, her very essence was formed of the essence of the Gray Wastes. The name Thanatos caught her attention. She knew of him, but had never had any dealings with the supposed god of the underworld herself. The best she could've recalled was of her time as a ferryman on the River Styx, and even then she'd only been allowed to take passengers so far into his area of Hades.

But she was letting her mind wander. There was no way she could explain any of this to the now draconic woman. Not here, not now anyways.

Briefly she looked over to the other woman in the dress who was vying for the captain's attention. Somehow it seemed she had garnered his attention all for herself. She'd heard the female form could do that occasionally, and it made her smile a little, causing the now mostly healed claw marks on her face to crinkle slightly.
"Safety isn't my concern," she added with her own hint of arrogance. Devaena was always self-assured that she could take care of herself. "But that still doesn't tell me where here is, and I think the lady up here would indeed like to know," she said turning her gaze up to the dragon woman.

Kimaya
(( he is just assuming she doesn't remember ))

Laresh enjoyed the display of emotions flashing across the other woman's face before they changed to a strange blankness. He hoped she lost her temper. Restraining her might be interesting. But at the transformation, the words Hell and Hades, he decided he should be a little more cautious. She was obviously not as ordinary as original outward appearances had seemed.

"Sorry, little one," Laresh decided to play with her just a bit. "Hell is pretty far as standard planar travel goes. I hope you didn't pay much for the transport." Smiling cockily, but inwardly wary for attack, he drawled, "You are right though, my time is precious. As for games, I wouldn't mind, normally, but I'm on duty." He couldn't allow himself to be intimidated in front of anyone. Laresh had his own abilities kept hidden as well.

Turning back to the white haired woman, he was about to let her know about Serendipity when he saw the human girl move quickly to him and make a grab for his arm. Nuh uh...

Furious at being ignored completely, and all patience gone, Danique made to place her hand on the Captain's arm before he turned completley away from her, "Excuse me, Captain I --" She didn't see him move, but as quick as she had reached for him, he was quicker. She felt her wrist twist in his grasp, harshly, and his long nails sink into her flesh firmly - not enough to break the skin, but the threat was there.

"Watch it, girl." She heard him say before he released her with a meaningful glance.

The cocky smile and drawled taunting words were just too much. She usually would ask how imbeciles liked being cooked, flame broiled, crispy or extra crispy but she was too far gone in her rage that her response to the man was a simple ungodly scream of rage as her wings furiously batted at the air, her eyes seeming to darken and glow as licks of flames began to coat her scream and spiral out from between her lips and aimed at the man. Let’s see how cocky he is now. Twasn’t overly smart to play chicken with a charonte, even if she was only one quarter charonte; she may not be able to take on the pure full form of her father's kind but she still was able to do the fun stuff.

She hadn’t seen the young woman move and almost felt regret as the flames continued to spiral along her scream but the regret was miniscule at the moment.

Zoe Katernon
User ImageZoe awoke in a haze, her lingering dream-thoughts already escaping into the far reaches of her subconscious. What she did remember of her dreams that night seemed rather odd... she didn't normally have dreams where she died at the end.

She felt very well rested, for a change. Where she came from, she was always woken up at the break of dawn by whoever was in charge of foreseeing the dorm rooms that day.

As she opened her eyes, she suddenly remembered where she was. The four walls of the inn room weren't all that unfamiliar to Zoe truthfully, but the atmosphere of the place definitely was.

It was the same eerie feeling she had when she first set foot here the day before. It felt like small particles of dust were constantly floating in the air, just small enough not to see, but making it slightly harder to breathe. Visually, colors felt dimmer, less saturated, as if the world itself was covered in... again, dust.

I'll give this place one thing... Zoe thought to herself as she meandered out of bed and approached the inn's window.

It's definitely peaceful out here. How long did I sleep?

The bright warmth of light shone on Zoe's face, blinding her momentarily, as she gazed out the window to the city below. What she saw made her believe she was still dreaming.

She wasn't familiar with the city, this being her second day as a resident and all, but she was certain that there wasn't that many burning buildings and whatnot out there yesterday. In fact, she couldn't really recall there being any burning buildings, come to think of it.

A large, floating object caught her eye as she gazed out in astonishment. It looked to be some sort of flying ship, similar to the ones they made back where she came from.

Seeing it all at once made Zoe wonder how the heck she slept through the night.

"Peaceful, my a**" she retorted as she quickly spun around, making a dash for the inn's exit.

Her gaze had shifted to the frail woman for a split second when she was the focus of the sky captain's ire. It was a moment she would probably later regret because she saw the spiraling column of flames about a split second too late to fully get out of the way. Instinctively she grabbed the edge of her cloak and went to pull it around her person as if for safety. In truth, the flames wouldn't do anything to her, but then that was the problem when you were trying to play off being a frail little human. Also unfortunately, while she was fireproof, her clothes were not and they burned quickly in the torrent of flame leaving nothing but the pieces of armor in their wake. Once the torrent had passed, Dev straightened, brushing the ash from her clothing. Her face was drawn into a disappointed frown. "That...was unnecessary." Inwardly she cursed. They might not know exactly what she was now, but surviving a fiery blast like that was almost certain to scream 'hey look, not human!'

The golden mist of her blood faded into the gold of a bright sun. Lurp blinked a few times, the change in light from the dark caverns to bright sunlight too much for her eyes. She could hear the sounds of water and of people. She sat up. That's when she saw Her leg, it was covered in scars... She was in her true form! And except for the breast plate Will always insisted she she wear for safety's sake, she was completely naked. Naked! And there were people EVERYWHERE! An old man gave her a sympathetic look, and she wanted to rip out his eyes for what he had seen. She had no idea how she could do it, but ALL of them would have to die for seeing her like this! Except... except she was already dead. She knew that. She had seen the blood rising from her wounds with her own eyes. And Will... Wait, where was Will?

Without thinking Lurp lept to her feet. If she was dead... yes, even as she thought it, clothes shifted into place, replacing scars and fur. She had died, but she had not gone into the void, or rejoined the sun, or become a star, or any of the other myriad things her people believed happened when one died. She had converted to the Saellit sect, Will's religion so that maybe when she died she could go to his heaven, and be with him forever. She looked around her with new, hopeful eyes. But the people, the plaza, the tower, the ship in the sky... This was not Saellit heaven, not as Will had described it. Lurp felt her heart sink. If she was not in his afterlife, or hers, where was she? And more importantly, where was HE? Someone here had to know something. She set out to find them.

Sadye had been watching the scene unfold from the safety of the tavern door, not wanting to get involved just yet, but her tail twitching and curling reflexively as the events unfolded. She cringed as she saw the strange sky captain hurting Danique, but even moreso, the fiery breath spiraling straight towards her. Before she could think twice about it she yelled "OIY! Watch it cutter!" to try and get her attention in time for her to move.

Chance! Laresh just had time to think before circumstance forced him to have to act. He grabbed for the human girl, unfortunately had to perform a silly looking twist-roll to avoid the incoming - and far too close for comfort - fire, while getting his translocate started. His skin felt a little stingy, but he was unsinged. Ten feet above the ground and a ways off from where he had been originally, he unceremoniously let go of the human, not bothering to check to see if she landed ok.

Grimacing, Laresh glanced up at his ship and glared. He could see a few of his men thought the display was pretty funny. Well he would have to beat the funny out of them when they got back to the barracks to remind them just exactly how inferior they all were. For now though... the dragon girl definitely looked big enough to pose a public nuisance, which meant a scuffle with her should be avoided. His men probably wanted to come out and play with everyone, but there were good reasons why Laresh still held the number one position on the Sky Force. And one of them was his cool head. But he sure still hated this part of his job. It made him feel unmanly.

"Woah woah woah, ok you made your point. You're bigger than me and you breath fire." He held his hands up to motion for words before action. He hoped that translated."Lets take it back a notch, ok?" He looked around at everyone involved by his mind and noticed the human seemed to be ok below. Oh well.

He also made careful note of the fact that the white haired woman had just survived a full blast of flame. Hmmm.

Zoe ran out of the inn's entrance as fast as her feet could take her in her current groggy state. She was never really a morning person. What she saw in the distance made her instinctively reach for her missing sword again.

Whoa... there are dragons here?

She had seen so many of them in her time that she shouldn't have been so surprised, but seeing a dragon in a place like this confirmed many theories that her friend Alaan and many other researchers had proposed, from where she came from. Unless this place was still Dal'kania, somewhere. In any case, she didn't recognize the dragon at all.

She ran towards the scene, her pace quickening as she spotted numerous other figures spotting the scene. One of them seemed to be that one noble lady she met yesterday... and it looked like she was being apprehended by some weird guy!

Zoe Katernon to the Rescue! She thought to herself, as she reached back for her absent sword again...

He couldn’t recall how long he’d been sitting here on the edge of this fountain, but then again, time had never been something he’d been too worried about. How he’d gotten here, however, did seem to unsettle him a little. The last thing he remembered was the battle with the fleet from Nestis, and then he was injured. He remained conscious even after he had hit the water, but he had continued to sink into its murky black depths until he lost whatever slight grip on reality he had. And then, when he awoke, he was sitting upright in a small alley between two shops in a strange city. His wound was gone too, which meant that either someone had healed him, or he’d been unconscious for some untold span of time. His body, unique as it was, had a tendency to heal rapidly even if the wound was fatal. A sigh passed his slightly pursed lips and the Pirate folded his hands together in his lap. He supposed it didn’t really matter where he was or why… There probably wasn’t a thing he could do about it other than attempt to adapt to this odd environment.

Creatures, or rather, people he had never seen moved about with confidence and ease, as if they belonged here. Sebastian stood up from his perch on the edge of the fountain and looked about the plaza lazily until his azure eyes fell upon a scene not far off from where he sat. Funny how he hadn’t noticed it until just now… His mind must have been far to occupied to be aware of it. A delicate eyebrow rose as he watched the scene unfold with mild interest. It seemed that the authorities here had the same kind of holier-than-thou attitude that they had everywhere else… But this wasn’t his problem and he had no intention of getting involved. The last thing he needed was to be arrested or something to that extent. No… He’d merely play the part of a bystander until he saw an opportunity to intervene that best suited his own personal needs. He did at least want to know what city he was in.

(( Improvising on what happened at Greenoak too))

Drawing her knees under her, Danique rose a bit unsteadily. She had her share of drops from heights - because of Dezrek usually - and so she was mostly ok. The strange words and familiar voice drew her attention. "You..." Her expression changed a bit to dismay to realize that someone else she had encountered before had met their end and arrived here. "I --" She didn't finish trying to explain what she was doing. None of it would have made any sense to the horned girl, it barely made any sense to her.

Shaking her head with a frown she cleared her thoughts nodding her thanks to the girl for helping her up. Above, at any moment, things could swiftly be getting out of control. It would be best to be ready this time.

A small part of Akribos twinged when the woman who had seemed to be in the same boat as her took on the full brunt of the flames meant for the chauvinistic imbecile. Al though when she survived Akribos wondered just what she was.

In her half fiend form and with giving in to her basic demon nature she couldn’t help but be disappointed that he had gotten out of the way with barely a singe. Had her contemplating seeing if he could fire dance and avoid being crispy-fide a second time. But she resisted. Her eyes drifted towards the aero machine, contemplating destroying it before it even had the thought to do anything to her but she resisted the destructive urge.

With reluctance Akribos wrapped her arms around herself as her wings continued to bat at the air. Soon she would need to lower to the ground, supporting her entire body with her wings while possible, just wasn’t possible for long periods of time before it began to tire her out and hurt. She wished she could take on the true full form of a charonte demon, she envied the full on demonic dragon form that her paternal’s kind possessed as their base level. But her’s was a human base level unfortunately.

Slowly she allowed herself to descend towards the ground. Warily watching those gathered nearby. Glancing at the Captain her voice was hoarse but still held a lilt of musical annoyance. “What is this place.. this time answer me or we’ll see just how your comrades up in the air there deal with being set on fire..”

"You ain't about to get all dizzy-tickled on me are ya?" That would be all she needed right now was someone passing out on her, although her concern right now was a little more focused towards that ship in the air and the half-dragon-y looking...thing.

Zoe Katernon
User ImageZoe arrived on the scene just in time to hear the Dragon's demands.

Comrades in the air?

When her eyes gazed upward upon the airship that she saw earlier, she came to a startling realization.

Ship...floating in air... engine... gears.... contraption? CONTRAPTION!!!

Before she could properly process the thought, the words came out of her mouth loudly as she pointed towards the airship.

"Kill it! Burn it! Destroy the Contraption!!"

Kimaya
Although he had given a direct order, very clear actually, to stand ready until he gave the word, he realized one of his men making his way out to him from the ship. Unfortunately, being good had its drawbacks. Being good meant you could do things other people found a bit difficult. Unfortunately, that meant that you could end up doing things no one else wanted to either. Like babysit a 100 foot tall idiot. Every captain had one or two dragons in his charge - if he himself wasn't one. Of course, like any proper fiend, Laresh hated dragons. They were overbearing, arrogant, and often inflexible. Of course, in a city like Cerxes they were a necessity, and there was no law against them for signing up for the Peace.

Not every captain had a dragon like Xalite. Xalite was everyone's problem though. Being the cousin of the Draconarch, albeit a distant one, it was more trouble than it was worth to try to kick him out of the service. So it fell to Laresh to keep him in line, and out of trouble.

The great lumbering idiot was making his way over in human form after setting down. Big shoulders, and a dumb face made him unmistakeable.

"Uh, boss... I was just noticing there seemed to be a situation.. and uh, I know you gave a direct order, but you always say you like us to use our heads and think outside of the crate... "

Laresh flicked his gaze to Xalite briefly before returning it to the winged creature across from him, barely keeping a hold on his temper. A throw down fight was beginning to sound so very good. He opened his mouth to reply, but was cut off by the huge resounding voice belonging to his most troublesome subordinate.

"You! Disturber of the Peace of the City of Cerxes, find yourself in Serendipity, seat of the Lady of Fortune, and the capital of the peaceful nations of the Plane! Explain your actions and identify yourself!!" Xalite's voice boomed. He whispered in an aside to Laresh who waited with a blank look on his face for the chaos to ensue, "Don't worry boss, I got this..."

Kimaya
The innkeeper of the Worldspanner's inn was watching the scene outside along with everyone else. He noticed more and more Outsiders were arriving by the day. It was almost more than he could keep up with. He had been intending to submit a formal request for more funds from the convene, but he had been pretty busy and hadn't gotten to it. He hoped they didn't think they could get away with making an excuse like lack of funding due to the disturbance of the Peace today. He had heard enough of those excuses for now, thank you very much.

Noticing one of the strangest looking outsiders he had seen in a while, he frowned. She was brand new, and he just did not have the room for one more Outsider. But she sure looked forlorn. Maybe he would kick that annoying deadweight who hadn't even paid for one meal since arriving and didn't look to be getting any money anytime soon. Some people needed a push to get out there after getting here, anyway, he told himself. Turning to Lurp he tapped her on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, miss?" He hoped it was female. "Just arrived?"

Akribos was keeping an eye on everything and yet seemingly nothing at all. She was ready to flee back in to the air at the first inclination of danger towards herself. Her brows narrowing as the woman began to point and exclaim.

Glancing up at the aero machine she caught sight of the gigantic man that left the aero and came besides his “Captain”. He was a bit taller than she herself was at the moment. Her eyes began to flash with feral anger as the new imbecile began to shout in that booming resounding voice. Her wings began to twitch with her fury.

“Let me guess.. you’re Blunderbore. You can huff and puff and stomp her gigantic feet and it won’t phase me one iota boy. I have nothing to explain. I sure as hades didn’t sign up to be here in this City of Cercex within Serendipity of the Planes. So go climb back up your aero beanstalk before you end up as my dinner”

Turning back to the Captain and fully dismissing the giant imbecile. "So why am I here, why are any of us here and how do we go about getting out and back to where we belong?"

LadyFox
Lurp whipped around ready to rip into the attacker who had gotten the drop on her. When she saw instead the concerned face of the innkeeper she belatedly tried to school her expression into something more friendly. "Sorry," she said, embarrassed. "Old habits." Will had usually been the one to deal with other people. He was better at it, naturally friendly where she was naturally aloof. But Will wasn't here right now, so she tried her best to do what he would have done. She smiled widely at the innkeeper's question.

"Yes! Yes, Thank you!" She tried to put the full feeling of her relief at his kindness behind her words "I am new here and... where is 'here' exactly and.." here her smile slipped as she looked nervously at the dragon woman who had sprouted the flames. "Is this normal?"

R i o t !
A tall, young man, seemingly in his late teens or early twenties, strode out of the inn nonchalantly. With his arms folded behind his head, he took in the morning's scene.

His eyes glanced at the carnage in the distance and took note of it for a split second before he shrugged and continued to stride along without a care in the world. He wore heavy dark clothing which seemed to be slightly dusty, as if he'd recently been digging in a ditch somewhere, but it did nothing to mask his handsome visage.

Turning his head lazily to the right, he sa w a dragon in the distance. His eyebrow raised at this, as he didn't recognize her. Then his body grew taught as he realized that she wasn't the only dragon there. There was more... and he didn't recognize a single one.

He decided to head towards the large gathering that seemed to be taking place in that direction, but turned around to say his goodbyes to the inkeeper... who was speaking to a very interesting woman in the street at the moment.

After looking her up and down from a distance, he definitely agreed with his former appraisal. Very interesting, indeed.

Completely forgetting about the group of unfamiliar dragons behind him, he turned towards the woman and inkeeper.

"Hey, mister innkeeper... or do you prefer bartender?" the young man smirked as he strode his way over, "Is business so bad that you have to go around searching outside for people to fill your beds nowadays?"

He then shifted his gaze to the woman, pretending to have seen her for the very first time.

"Oh-ho, what have we here?" He let his eyes wander downward for the slightest second, then cleared his throat and continued, "You seem to be in a bit of trouble, madame... or is it my lady?"

"You... know your way around a sword?" He asked, bowing graciously whilst eying her breastplate.

Kimaya
Put out that he had been ignored and insulted, Xalite began to sulk. "I could so phase her, boss, I could! She hasn't seen anything yet, I could just --" Finally noticing Laresh's glowering silence, Xalite got the hint to shut up, his voice trailing off and his sulk growing worse.

Taking a deep breath, Laresh realized Xalite's intrusion had gotten himself back to his senses. The last thing he needed was a throw down fight with a bunch of planar - and obviously not human - Outsiders.

"Look, you are here because of whatever was happening to you right before you got here... er, if you don't remember that part usually its because you died. And instead of ending up where you were suppose to, which is sort of like a really unfortunate cosmic mixup, you ended up here. This is the plane of Serendipity, not at all anywhere near Hell, really, and pretty crazy to even try to travel there at this time of the Apex. Best chance you would have would be a trip to Sigil with all those doors, and I doubt thats going to be for free." Holding his breath, he finished. "You might as well get comfortable, you're stuck here."

Simirae
User Image

She didn’t give the Blunderbore another moment of her attention as she listened to Laresh’s words. She stayed quiet for a while as she let those words sink in. She was skeptical of their genuine truth but looking around this place she didn’t resemble anything she’d ever seen or heard of before and if she had been back in Hade’s domain as she would have been after death because no matter how good or bad she may or may not have been she was damned from birth because of the charonte within herself. Completely dismissing and ignoring everyone around her she let her thoughts whirl. If Laresh spoke the truth then this would be a blessing in disguise for one such as Akribos. But she wondered if it was the truth or some joke and game. Wanting to think more on it all she simply let her wings cloak her form as she turned and walked away from the group. She needed time to think and time to get to the bottom of this and find the real truth.

Kimaya
Maxfred Mordilberd hid his startlement well at the sudden reaction of the woman. He was pretty good at it after all his years of greeting Outsiders, and he prided himself on staying calm even when he was being growled at, or even licked and pawed at by alien looking creatures, while wondering if it was their greeting or pre-dinner ritual. Since he was still around it must mean something, perhaps even that he was meant for this job.

Smiling assuredly he spoke in his own language, which was some bastardized form of chinese-french - he was actually from a place called Earth long ago - and mixed with low planar, happily relying upon the gigantic translation spell which hung over the city.

"No! You're fine... and yes, it is normal." The inn actually made pretty good custom during these types of welcoming parties for Outsiders. "Still, its best to stay clear. Revivers are expensive, and you never know when you die where on the Plane you will end up again. Some places are unpleasant here."

He knew the girl probably had questions, but he found out long ago, it was usually best to let them come to their own conclusions. They almost always did anyway.

“You! Disturber of the Peace of the City of Cerxes, find yourself in Serendipity, seat of the Lady of Fortune, and the capital of the peaceful nations of the Plane!” called the voice from the center of the disturbance. That was enough for Sebastian to go on and indeed more than he thought he’d get. Then again, the displeased look on the commander’s face seemed to show that that information was probably not suppose to be revealed so carelessly. No matter.. Sebastian turned on his heel, his boot grinding into the cobblestone and kicking up the slightest bit of dust. “Serendipity huh…” At least he had a name or two to label the place. What really concerned him though, was the rate at which violence snowballed into a massive problem here. Even in his world, something like this would only happen under rare circumstances. But it didn’t matter to him at this point. Sebastian moved to the opposite side of the plaza, rubbing his temple and casting his azure gaze around in an attempt to acquire a bit more information. That was when he saw a man step out of the Inn and approach a small woman. The innkeeper, perhaps? Sebastian decided to linger away from the pair for now and simply listen under the guise of a random onlooker.

Kimaya
Danique half smiled at the girl's strange words. Dizzy-tickled? Perhaps she meant faint..."I think I'm ok... its just, I really... need to talk to that..." The words escaped her again as she tried to conjure up the right way to explain things.

User ImageThat was the best damn news Sadye had had. Before she thought about it she was grinning happily. "Now that cutter has the dark on things. You can get anywhere from the Cage if we can get there!" Not to mention it was home sweet home. Maybe the multiverse didn't hate her guts after all!

She had almost gotten so caught up that she missed what Danique was saying, but she caught it at the edge of her hearing and turned to look at her. "Who, that basher on the ship? Seems like a bad blood if you ask me, cutter. Might be better if you didn't get to speak ta him."

((Will catch up more in a bit when I get home, by for now! heart ))

"So this isn't... the Saellit afterlife?" Plane. The innkeeper had called it a plane. Lurp had heard vaguely of these things. So was she dead or wasn't she? No... she was sure she was dead. "How did I end up here?" She hated asking the man all these questions, but now that she had a source of information, it would take a lot of trauma from a large, blunt instrument, to turn her attention away.

So when the young man shows up, Lurp is... irritated to say the least. She turns her head (but not her body) from the inkeeper and towards the young man. To call her expression cold, would be to call a glacier "chilly." She notes that he is handsome, but it means little to her.

"Madame." she answers his question, emphasizing her taken status. And then interpreting his last line as innuendo, turns colder still. "I have known a great many swords in my time," she answers and snowflakes wouldn't melt on her tongue. "But as you seem to be equipped with a dagger, I can't imagine you have anything to say to me."

User Image"... or, not..." Zoe said as her voice trailed off slightly, noone seeming to be taking her audiovisual cues to burn the flying thing down.

"Oh!" she exclaimed to herself, regaining her train of thought after seeing Danique again.

Her speech went into overdrive "are you ok, lady? Did that wierdo do something to you? Where is that little girl? Is that the contraption? Should we burn it?"

[ brother anton valesca ]

When he opened his sharp, steel-grey eyes, he was standing - which was no surprise; it was pretty difficult to sit down with Glory Girl's flame-ropes wrapped around you. What was surprising was the lack of flame-ropes. And the lack of Glory Girl. And Chuck, the smarmy b*****d who'd attracted Glory Girl's attention to Anton. And the car, and highway, -- and the dark of night had kind of gone too, giving way light...

The Benedictine brother glanced around the plaza in confusion - this place looked like it came out of the medieval ages crossed with that steampunk genre some of his students were into nowadays. He was dressed in his brown robes, tied at the waist by a simple cord, and felt not quite as out of place as someone in jeans and a t-shirt might've, but he was still as confused as hell. Running fingers through his grey hair - in his late forties, he'd gone grey a bit prematurely, but the stress of his former life explained that - Anton muttered under his breath. "Bloody hell..."

A second cursory glanced saw an altercation Anton did not want to get into the middle of, a few passersby looking on with interest (though none seemed too surprised, which was rather worrying) and a man who might've been a Dark Ages innkeep speaking with a woman. Well -- they looked sane.

Making his way over to them hesitantly, Anton tried to sound casual as he asked, "So... Where in God's name am I?"

... Whatever the answer was, Anton was sure it was better than occupying a nice, cozy jail cell while waiting to be put on trial.

Laresh did his best not to sigh in obvious relief as the chaos began to grow more controlled - he had his image to keep up. Ordinarily he might have stopped the girl walking off, but it probably would only make it worse. And besides, new Outsiders generally had a three strikes rule with him. It was usually less expensive to fix the initial damage and then let them try to fit in if they wanted to. Or if not. Either way it was less expensive than trying to control them. Mostly they became focused on something personal within a few hours, or days - the dead almost always left behind something unfinished.

Turning back to the white haired... woman... with a skeptical look on his face, Laresh replied, "Now that we are past that little bit of fun... The Lady just so happens to be the rule here. In a place like Cerxes, like on most other planes, if someone is powerful enough to be called 'ruler' and then also goes to the trouble to make actual rules, its best to follow them. Im sure you understand." Laresh allowed his arrogant smile to return again but then grew irritated at hearing the footsteps of the approaching human. Growling, he turned around to her. "Look, what in Fortune's Favor do you want with me?"

Danique paused, startled by his response, at first, but then pushed onward. "Captain, I.. know you are a friend of the Justice, and there is a matter of which I would speak with him. Its very important, can you please hear me out?"

Laresh was taken aback that she knew that much about him. His friendship with the Justice wasn't exactly common knowledge. Well, she was who she was... some girl from some ball of dirt on the Material Plane that had gotten the attention of a powerful Planar Sorceress. He supposed that might be why... Still, calling him out while he was on duty about some nonsense with the Justice. Who did she think she was?

Kimaya
The innkeeper smiled, but not too kindly, and definitely not with sympathy. He had learned long ago that most Outsiders did not take too warmly to pity. And besides, they all had that in common, so there was no way to truly pity something that you yourself had to deal with too.

"Saellit does sound like it could be a nice place. But you are right, this is not Saellit. Its not even really the afterlife actually... I wish I could tell you how you got here, but as it happens, no one knows the truth about that and try to find a wizard to explain it to you, hes usually drunk and who can really understand a wizard anyway, much less a drunken one. I suppose cosmic accident best sums it up, really."

The innkeeper nodded to the two newcomers, even though the young man seemed to be a bit of an idiot. He supposed he had meant well, but like some young men when they saw a pretty pair of eyes they got a little stupid.

R i o t !
The young man paused after the woman's last comment and smiled slightly, pulling out a dagger out from underneath his clothing and flipping it in the palm of his hand.

"...and here I thought I had it hidden fairly well." He spoke, obliviously. "You see, you do know your way around a sword, I knew it!"

Chuckling, he placed his weapon back underneath is clothing.

"You don't have anything to fear from this dagger anyway, miss" Apparently, he had already forgotten that they had both agreed on 'madame'. "It's just a tool, and I don't use it much on human skin."

"So, with this Say-light place you were talking about, I take it you're not from around here either, eh?"

In Defense of Indifference - Last Scenes

After he had become certain that the excitement was under control, the Captain took a few minutes to get most of the details down before turning back to his Skyship. He was preparing to translocate back to the ship when the girl with the long pale hair placed her hand hovering above his arm, obviously hesitant about touching him again, but just so obviously not afraid to do what she must to get his attention.

Rolling his eyes he turned slowly back to her. "What do you want from me?" He knew he would regret asking - but something about the girl made her hard to ignore and it wasn't that he knew she was of great interest to several powerful politicals. Studying her up close, a small weak thing - human, he felt an odd sensation starting in his midsection that had nothing to do with desire. He wondered if it had something to do with her... she had better not be using some power on him - or she would soon find out he wasn't just your average fiend.

"I... Captain, I need an audience with the Justice. It is really very important that he listen to what I have to say."

"Oh? Is that all? And you think just because you know that I'm an old acquantance of his that I'll let you bully me into getting you one?"

"Bully? You are a man of the Peace, I just thought --"

"That I even have such power?" He was folding his arms across his chest - although he usually liked to display his upper body openly, which nicely showed off just how strong he really was - and glaring at her, but she only frowned in puzzlement and got a stubborn look of consternation on her face.

"I, well... have you ever tried? Its a matter of life and death, and I don't say those words lightly." Had he ever tried? The nerve of this little human... questioning him. But she wasn't done, and it was hard to control his expression as she continued to speak. "They say you came from the same world..." Where in the Hell had that come from - it wasn't true, but that didn't mean people wouldn't believe it. Great, just what he needed more questioning about his rise to power.

"Look, girl, if you want my opinion you dont really look like the type who can help anyone here. Outsiders, especially ordinary ones, don't make very good heroes. So go on and try to get yourself more settled instead of causing and attracting problems for others." He could tell she had no intention of listening to him, which meant he was going to have to get mean. "Think about what you already did trying to get my attention. Standing in the middle of all that -- what were you thinking? You could have compromised the safety of all the people here, fortune, what if that girl had gotten her blast off on me - or what if you had been killed? Do you think I could just let it all go down like that?" He gestured angrily back to the scene were two strange Outsiders were talking - the one with the fiery destruction and the other who had a nice body underneath all of that armor, he was pretty sure.

"I didn't mean for any of that to happen --"

"Is that what you say after all of your mistakes to make it ok? That you didn't mean it?" He let his lips curl in disgust while she blinked a few times in more hesitation before trying again.

"You don't understand. Some things are important enough to take risks over." Her face was so sincere he caught himself feeling less like arguing. Besides she was adamant... and for some strange reason he just didn't feel right poofing on her midsentence. Although he could totally do it, and usually did.

"Thats where you're wrong. I do agree some things are important enough to take big risks. So, here's what we're gonna do... I'm going to give you a minute to tell me whats so important that you'd go to these lengths, and once I hear you out, and tell you what I think, that will be the end of it."

She shook her head in a gesture of dismissal and began to speak again, "I really--" she began, but he cut her off with a gesture.

"Thats as good as you're going to get. I'd take the deal. Minute starts now."
He stood staring at her, arms folded again, with a meaningful look.

Frowning, she began, telling her story as quickly as she could... the brother, the sister, the fernflower, the Lord and his niece, the bystanders who got involved, the plan of some of them to try to help defend against the contraption, and hers to speak with the Justice. It took longer than a minute and he could tell she wasn't telling the whole truth - probably something to do with whoever she was here - but he decided it would be best to let her get it all out. When she finished he stood silent for a moment. "Ok, Ive heard enough. My answer is no," he said before he turned and began walking. He could have translocated but he knew they weren't done. And he had to admit he was enjoying the sound of her voice more than other humans. Not that he would admit it to anyone but himself.

"Wait, no - you said you would tell me what you thought! Stop!" She was walking after him of course.

He kept walking and threw his arms up in the air before saying, "One person. Need I say more?"

"So just because only one person is in danger instead of many their lives are worth nothing? How can you call yourself a man of the Peace! You are a SkyCaptain!" She was furious now, he could feel it coming off of her behind him... the warmth and heat of human passion.

"That I am. I think thats the part you are forgetting - my job is to keep peace. Not defend people who stir up trouble for themselves." Her intake of breath was loud enough to hear even though she was several feet behind him now. He heard her footstep stop, and so he began to slow, although he didn't realize he was doing it.

"Forgive me for mistaking your duty for something honorable. Peace at any cost then. I see, and so anyone in need of help that is more than their worth has stirred up trouble for themselves - that way you can justify standing by while an innocent dies." She paused as though considering the idea sincerely. "Or can you tell me how this man stirred up trouble for himself by trying to make a living?"

And suddenly he wanted to see her face - it wasn't what she said, nothing like that - he just needed to see her expression, and for her to see his. Laresh stopped and turned around abruptly. She looked calmer than he would have liked, her fury was bottled up but she appeared under control. He bit his words off as he spoke, feeling his own anger finally rising - this had gone way too far, "I wasn't talking about the brother, you little fool, I meant you. You are the one stirring up all the trouble."

The girl resumed her glare on him, her calm fading with his accusation. She was going to say something again, he could see that, but he wasn't done. "I bet this isn't the first time you've found yourself in the middle of something that isn't your business, is it?" That got her attention, her glare was turning into a look of incredulty. "Did you stop to wonder if maybe this man might actually not be worth saving? Or can you tell me what kind of person he is? Someone worth all of this must be.... well I can't imagine, so why don't you tell me?" He knew he had gotten to her, but her expression was still defiant. "Go on tell me. What's he like?" he asked and then waited.

She was shaking her head to deny his argument. But she said nothing. "That isn't the point..."

"Oh, now its not? Well, how convenient. Tell me this then: what will said Lord of Fernflowers do when he finds out his will was balked by the Justice?"
She glared in reply.

"Or how about the other Lords when they hear about all of this? Do you think nothing will happen to this girl and her brother just because he doesn't die to the Contraption?" He wanted to shake her to get that look off of her face.

"That doesn't make it right!" She cried in frustrated fury. Her chest was heaving with each angry breath.

"What will you do then, I wonder, to right that wrong... start a revolution? Put more lives at risk than you already have? How many other people have died for you and your 'That doesn't make it right?'" Her face fell and for a moment he almost felt sorry for her, but it was only a moment. There was a brief silence before she spoke.

"You don't know anything about me..."

"Tell me then, how did you die? You can tell a lot about a person with that, here in Cerxes. I'll bet it wasn't in bed with the death."
He waited for a moment, but she said nothing, and the silence stretched between them. Finally he turned and began walking again. She didn't follow him this time. He wasn't sure if that's what he expected, but as soon as he was a good step away he translocated up to the Breakdawn.

His men were snickering and making sly comments about him and the lady folk. A few went so far as to say them within obvious hearing. Laresh was definitely going to have to remind them who was the inferior slice of meat, around here. It might be just the thing to lighten his mood, too, since he obviously wasn't going to be getting a date with that armored sweet thing any time soon.

Session Three: Everybody Loves a Happy Ending

Skies overhead were again threatening thunder, dark and heavy laden with rain that still clung to the heavens. Thin scattering lines of etched light shot out here and there, hinting at the show that was waiting in the shadows. The common platform's air was warm and filled with the smell of promised rain. Music from the inn could be heard drifting sofly through the open windows, the breeze fluttering their linen curtains.

Below, on the Commerce Platform, the Masquerade continued as night descended. A few shopkeepers in the Worldspanner's plaza were closing up when a huge crack of thunder shook the area, strangely preceded by no forked lightning.

The few people left in the plaza who had not made their ways home or to the Inn, looked around wondering what sort of lightning boomed without light. They were just about to go back to their business when another crack thundered even closer, and with even less brilliance. Puzzlingly the sky was still empty as another loud boom reverberated through the plaza. A few people had come outside of the Worldspanners Inn to search the skies for a sign of the lightshow.

From the lightly sloping rooftop that Lias had made his perch for the moment, he glanced up into the sky with his narrowed eyes. What was that? he wondered with some wariness. He might be strong and powerful and gifted but this world was still strange to him. He waited, out of sight from the ground as he was sitting in a small alcove but with a great view of the skies, to see what was taking place.

Sadye was winding through the marketplace window shopping the still open stalls when the first crack of thunder jolted her from her reverie. She looked up at the sky...no lightning, no dazzle, no soddin' bloody tickler descending from the skies (and thank the powers for that, that had been a hell of a trip last time...), so what exactly was going on?

She looked around to see if there was anyone who wasn't, as she'd put it in Sigil, cagestruck so she could quiz them down and get the dark on things.

Kimaya
At the Inn, where Danique had been trying to forget about the day's events, which was almost impossible since the girl she was trying to help was seated not far from her and was receiving dinner from the kindly innkeeper; her business had been lost due to the incident - no one would buy from her family ever again, likely. Not only would she lose her family, but she would also lose her way of life.

Danique was inwardly berating herself for thinking useless thoughts when the crashing thunder began. It suited her frame of mind that it should begin storming... and she welcomed the sounds to drown out her thoughts.

Kimaya
One of the merchants nearby to the planar lady, Sadye, was standing with his hands on his hips and staring into the sky.

"Can't be good... thunder an no lightning. Seen it before, though, but it usually means bad business is afoot." He was talking aside to the beautiful horned fiend, although she looked like an Outsider, as he had noticed her about to come check out his wares as he was packing up.

Nothing like pretending to be in a hurry to get home to get someone to make a hasty purchase. He couldn't see anything on the girl to make him think she'd want any of his leather goods though.

Something was off. Not only had he no idea how he had gotten here - Alkhar could have sworn that the last time remembered going outside it had been mid day. Admittedly, he had been sort of drunk at the time. And admittedly, he had been in the company of some rather strange people. But honestly, going from that to wherever he was now was a big step. This was definitely not his home town anymore.

And what was more, something also seemed to be up with the weather. Thunder. He hated thunder. Especially the lightning. Except... this time there seemed to be none.

Well, then, he thought If this is one of those nights when nothing makes sense, then I might as well see if I can find myself a drink around here...wherever here is.

Conveniently, the large building at the edge of the plaza seemed to be just the right place to get one. As he started walking, Alkhar sure hoped that the establishment would offer drinks that were strong enough to help with the confusion.

Just her luck to be caught outside as a storm was starting. Maverick pulled her cloak tighter, heading back towards the Worldspanner's Inn for some rest. After getting some rest, she had spent the day figuring out where she was, what had happened... Not a whole lot of answers had been found. She didn't feel dead, but that meant little here. Had she died, on Dalkania?

The wanderer dismissed the thoughts to focus instead on dinner, finding a seat inside to rest and dry off.

Thunder. Rebecca Portan gave a soft growl, under her breath, not even loud enough to hear. She liked to be outside if she could but this weather did not bare it; where it thundered, it almost always rained as well. So she looked around for some place to shelter.

Taverns and inns she considered to be dens of misdeed, a place where many shady happenings went on, and she prefered if possible not to associate herself within them. However, needs must sometimes. She took a step towards the door when a man caught her eye. Here was one of those ruffian types, judging from his attire. she thought but said nothing, simply watched him approach with a suspisous look on her face.

"Oh really cutter?" Sadye asked the man who'd spoke up. She didn't like the sound of this at all. "Are we uh talkin' gettin' bobbed or scragged bad? Or gettin' boxed and put in the deadbook bad?" Neither were Sadye's idea of fun, but you could live through the first at least. "What's the chant on all this dazzle?" she asked a bit more directly.

To the Archmage, the thunder alone wasn't strange. Not that she could see if there was lightning or not, but something felt... off. Zarael paused, rather enjoying the feel of rain, as she 'looked' around. People were closing up and going home... Lias had disappeared since their meeting the other day.... hopefully he wasn't causing too much trouble...

The merchant smiled to hear the strange words roll off the fiend's tongue - he was part celestial himself, although he could only claim like a tenth and one of it very pure - certainly not a true line. He had only a vague idea of what she meant, but he nodded when he replied, "Yep, could be all of them at once."

Alkhar wondered if he had any money on him. He had had some last he remembered, but for all he knew, he could have been robbed while he was unconscious. Kidnapped. Asleep. Whatever he had been doing. Oh well - there was a time to worry about everything. Hydration first - liquidity later. A man's got to have his priorities, after all.

Just as he was about close enough to the inn, he paused to examine his immediate surroundings - noticing the woman who was watching him.

"Hey", he said. "D'you know if the booze in this place is any good?"

Kimaya
Another huge crack shook the ground and the skies, and another and, then yet another, the booming sounds rolled into each other until it became apparent that they were not natural at all.

Suddenly pouring in from the skies were shining metallic objects zooming in at high speed, glowing with magic and leaving glittering tails of dust behind them. No it was not unicorns... it was men. Men on strange metal vehicles which were powered by magic - Mechana.

Hooting and howling they rolled into the plaza, one of them bearing the large device that was responsible for the loud bangs and cracks which resembled thunder. As they landed he activated it again so close it sounded like the very ground was ripping to pieces. Then he raised an object to his lips and began to speak, his voice carrying loudly over the entire plaza. "People of Cerxes!!! Come out and hear me!!"

Some of the people in the Inn were rushing out to see what was going on - somehow with all that happened ever day in Cerxes the lesson to stay inside never quite stuck with its residents.

"Excuse me?" Rebecca did not takes her eyes off the man, although they widened slightly as he addressed her. "I don't drink. It dulls the senses and makes fools of the wise." She shook her head. "And if you want to talk further to me for whatever reason, I am Captain Rebecca Portan of the Mage City Guard." She was clearly a woman well used to getting respect on automatic, and indeed if one drew too close to her, they might well begin to feel a certain ebbing that came from her magic, an oppressive and uncomfortable aura that came directly from her body.

Then something sudden made her look to the sky...

The sound made Lias' head whip round quickly.

"And what do you think you are?" he said, although if the being could hear him or not really didn't matter that much to him. He stood from his perch, now in view to some of the people below

Sadye looked up at the sky again, her ears dropping with a sigh. "Another day under the Lady's shadow then." She was about to make her way off, but remembered her manners and paused long enough to dig in her pouch and pull out a couple stingers (silvers) to pass over to the merchant for the info. After all, any tout worth her jink knew you paid the mouths that fed you chant. "Thanks, cutter. Believe well," she said in farewell and then made her way towards the nearby inn.

User ImageIt seemed others were doing the same for as she got there several bodies were filing in ahead of her including a military woman judging from the way she held herself and that sword, a rough looking prime who looked like he'd just woken up (maybe freshly arrived she told herself), and...a wanderer who looked strangely familiar. Sadye couldn't have put a name on her at the moment, but she was sure as Sigil that she'd seen her before.

{editing}

She was just about to open her mouth and say something when the men on machines zoomed into view. "Soddin' bloody hells, what in the sixes is that?!" she muttered under her breath.

User Image"What on Earth --" Danique had moved to the windows along with many of the other people in the Inn. Some of them had run outside to see the scene up close, or close as they dared.

The swirling enchanted dust - a byproduct of the mechana - filled the plaza obscuring it at first, but was now settling down to reveal the scene. She saw that the men on the vehicles were all dressed in black, shining metal on much of their clothing. They all wore and carried strange devices, glowing at their belts and in their hands, some on their heads. A few of the men held glowing and brilliant mechana in their hands pointed up into the air with eager faces, as though itching for action.

Alkhar laughed. "I didn't realize I was talking to a teetotal. My apologies." A bowing gesture was added to the last words, but with the tone of his voice to accompany it it didn't look very apologetic at all.

He paused, taking on a slightly more serious tone. "Captain, eh? You might say that's a title I could claim as well, but I do think rather of a different kind. Not as... fancy as yours." Stretching out is hand, intenting to shake hands with the woman, he continued. "Name's Alkhar. Alkhar Cross."

What happened just after that, however, completely took Alkhar's mind off off the introduction he was trying to make. Things coming down from the sky? Flying? Talking? With people on them?

What the hell.

Half to himself, half to whoever happened to hear him, he said
"What kind of town is this?"

Zoe grudgingly lumbered down the stairs of the Worldspanners Inn while holding her beleaguered head up with one hand. Every step made her grimace.

"Geez, what's with all the noise?" she complained, finally reaching the bottom floor. She didn't remember drinking all that much, but for some reason she had a splitting headache.

She separated the fingers cradling her face just enough to peek out with one eye behind them at the inn's more active inhabitants. She recognized quite a few of them.

"Oh, hey, it's you guys" She spoke, somewhat relieved, "Are people blowing more stuff up outside? Is another dragon destroying things? Seriously, what is going on this time?"

Kimaya
The merchant gratefully accepted the silvers with a nod - glancing at them he recognized the currency, which was not completely uncommon in Cerxes - of course true Sigil bred would know how to treat with strangers. Sigil should probably be called the city of strangers instead of city of doors... or so he could imagine. Never been there, but it was a dream he had.

He was sliding them into his money pouch when suddenly the loudest crack of all had him sprawling on the plaza...

Not twenty feet from him was the largest group of Machina that he had ever seen. A gang it looked like - a very dangerous one with their magic powered devices.

"People of Cerxes!!! Hear me now!! Come, listen to your only hope! Doom will be upon you all if you sit by in your houses and do nothing!"

A great muttering had begun to carry through the plaza. A few people cried out amongst the others, their words mostly drowned out in the booming and the noise.

His offer to shake hands rather took Portan back; but this was afterall a strange world, perhaps she should relent her harsh stance for a short while, until she got her barings more properly. So she reached out and returned the gesture.

"Very well Mr Cross," she said and was about to ask more about him when the noises increased from the sky and took up her whole attention. This feeling, of uncertainty, was unpleasant indeed.

"Are you any good with a weapon, Mr Cross?" she wondered. "And this town, well...it's a mad and unlawful one."

Doom-sayers? Zarael only chuckled to herself, though the dust given off by the machina was clouding her vision. Still, curiosity got the better of the Archmage, and she stepped to the side of the crowd, waiting to hear what the strange men on the strange machines would say. She knew quite a few that would have liked to examine the odd devices.... Vaguely, she picked up on Lias's magic, taking his position into account...

Kimaya
User ImageAlthough she should not be surprised by the scene, she was... never having seen any of the Machina since she had been here. She heard a few of the people near her say that of them. And they rode on machines, so it did make sense. Whatever they were, it was more trouble. That much was obvious. The man was already gathering a crowd, some of them in awe of the machines they rode - or perhaps at being so near to one of the great factions, a chance at being something other than an Outsider - which she knew was many of their dreams, sadly. Not many of the Outsiders were content with their lot. She could hardly blame them though she felt a little sad that they did little to try to change it or work with it.

She noticed the young girl, Lenisa... the sister of the man scheduled to die. She had a look of fear on her face, and she had not touched the plate in front of her since the shouting started.

The Innkeeper was only standing unconcered not too far off, but she noticed he was also checking each of his visitors for signs of something... she wasn't sure.

((*all caught up now* Popping in to get maybe one or two posts in before I have to be gone))

Lurp hadn't ventured far from the inn today. The innkeeper was kind and a good source of information, and Lurp didn't feel up to extensive exploration until she had a better idea of what was what around here. Finding that out was proving to be more difficult than she had expected. Residents seemed to have a taboo against talking in too much detail about what exactly brought one here, and how if it was even possible, to get out. The innkeeper had given Lurp a lot to think about, but she felt the gaps in her new knowledge keenly. She didn't like not having all the pieces of the puzzle.

Luckily Lurp was skilled at information gathering. It was what she had most often done when working for one thieves guild or another. The newcomers like herself didn't seem to have the same resistance to talking about what had happened to them, so Lurp had sat in the inn most of the day, blending in, and using her fine-tuned hearing to gather what she could from them. She didn't even have to shapeshift to gather the intel, which was good, she didn't want anyone knowing just what she could do yet.

She was just sitting at the back of the inn, minding everyone else's business when the sky shattered and fell to the ground in shiny pieces.

Bugger. Lurp did not want to go out there. Out there was trouble, and trouble was the opposite of where she wanted to be.

Alkhar shrugged, still watching the strange arrivals. "Good enough, though I'm afraid I've arrived here lacking in posessions."

A slight chill went down his spine as he listened to the words from the leader of the intruding group. This could turn out really badly. At the same time, they really pissed him off. Okay, this wasn't his town, but there he had been about to peacefully go have a very well needed drink. Who were these guys to come ruin everything and threaten people?

Turning to Rebecca again, he said "You don't happen to have a spare sword, do you? These guys look like trouble."

(( Lol you're fine Ladyfox, im not writing well today either, just fast as I can))

"Outsiders! You know who you are! You live down here on what we who you know as the Machina call the 'Common' Platform. But common would be a kind word from the lips of the nations' leaders and senators when speaking of you - truly, even within the hearing of our great Lady of Cerxes.

You are all nothing to them!"

The man paused for a breath, his glowing eye glass swirling strangely as he waited while his men roared to fill in the silence. Some of them fired their weapons into the skies emitting glowing rays and fiery blasts. Above, the lightning was finally beginning in truth, the first few twining fingers flashing across the cloudy overhang, brightening the area for a moment. He waited for the thunder before continuing.

"Right now in the council chambers of the Lady herself, a debate has been ongoing for days. Its a debate that will end with the doom of you Outsiders."

Rebecca clutched in her hand the only sword she had, and wasn't about to give it up.

"Sorry," she said, her eyes never leaving the sky. "I only have the one." However she reached into her coat and her hand closed on a short dagger, which she handed to the man. "You may have this, whatever good it would do you." What was this? In her old life she would never have dreamt of handing a weapon to a man like him. Yes...a mad world...

A pause, just before she could actually enter the Inn, as the machina descended and the man started to talk. This was apparently some new excitement, though her lack of information was unhelpful in decided if this was common or not. People were gathering, other 'outsiders', she supposed, so the wanderer saw no harm in at least seeing what was going on.

"Ï thought you would have learned your lesson in listening to weird cult-things. Especially when they're calling out doom." Fred decided to make an appearance, the small purple monkey in his green top hat visible to all on her shoulder.

"You'd think, eh? Hehe... besides... we're Outsiders here, too... if this concerns us, then...." While part of her wanted to doubt that the ruler of the realm would 'doom' all the outsiders - as there were quite a few - it was still... scary.

"All talk," Lias could hold his tongue no longer, sneering at them. "Bring yourself to your point, whatever you are." He spoke as he always did, unphased by their apparent superiority; from his tone one would think he was the one in the sky with all the weapons instead of a lone individual standing on a rooftop.

As for nothing...they did not speak to him with such a word...

One of Zoe's eyebrows raised sharply at her reply.

"Wasteward, you know...towards the Gray Wastes, the Lower Planes, the...oh soddin' hells, nevermind...bloody clueless," she said muttering the last bit to herself as she turned back to look at the scene unfolding.

Truthfully Sadye was becoming less and less impressed with these men and their dazzle until finally she couldn't stand it any longer. "What kind of barkle is this? You sound like some barmy mimir spouting off mibix cause some basher told you to, berk. I smell a peel if I ever smelled one," she finished, the last directed more towards the crowd than anything.

Kimaya
User ImageThis was insane... did these people have nothing to do than trample the lives of everyone here? The muttering grew louder and a few people cried out for the man to explain what he was talking about. Several shook their heads and went back inside, but even more took their places yelling for the man to speak. Danique looked around wondering where the Peace were. This was already getting out of hand.

Right on the heels of her thoughts, a group of men wearing the colors of the Peace trotted onto the scene. They did not stop, apparently their orders were to subdue immediately, but made straight for the Machina, weapons drawn - all of varying types.

The leader of the Machina did not hesitate. He nodded to his men and one of them raised his weapon and fired... bright purple sparks shot from them in rapid succession right into two of the men closing. Suddenly where the men had been, now struggled two very large rabbits trying to get out from under the guardsmen's clothes in a panic.

The other guardsmen slowed and then halted ten paces off. The leader had his hands held to his sides indicating they were not attacking.

Alkhar took the dagger, giving a rather strained smile in return - although the strained look had more to do with the ongoings around them than anything else. "Thanks."

Okay, now those guys were really being a pain in the a**. He had to struggle with himself not to step up and start yelling himself - but frankly, considering how he had no clue about anything around here, and considering the look of the weapons the intruders carried... Well, a dagger was better than nothing, but chances were he wouldn't have much of a chance.

That didn't stop him from muttering, however. In this case, in Rebecca's general direction.
"Looks like you meant it when you said it was unlawful. Bloody seditioners, these. "

Not quite wanting to draw that much attention to him just yet, Alkhar stopped at quietly cheering Lias on as he heard the other man speak. At least some of the people in this town seemed to have some sort of pride and sanity.

However, speaking of sanity, Alkhar nearly could have sworn he had lost all of his when he saw two guards being turned into... rabbits. At this point, there was no resisting drawing attention to him, as he spoke out way too loud.
"What the flying ******** is going ON? This is CRAZY!"

Kimaya
The man smiled as the group of the Peace halted, having the weapons to really only control ordinary Outsiders - not a fully outfitted Machina gang. He turned to look at the few naysayers - one man on a roof looking nothing like an ordinary Outsider, and the other clearly not an Outsider at all, or at least close enough to a fiend that she would have no clue what it was truly like.

"Ha! It just so happens I admit I am here at the request of my leader. But I am no pawn to be moved. As things stand he cannot leave the council chambers until a decision has been reached! That leaves me to bring my news, and my request, to you instead." He glared all around, and then continued, whispering into his amplifier instead of shouting... his words with a sinister tone to them.

"The decision, my friends, is whether or not Outsiders should be kicked out of society instead of welcomed in! Whether or not you should have rights at all! Right now, if you believe it or not, a travesty is occurring. And the leader of the Machina opposes it with all of his might!"

"Heh," Rebecca scowled. "I hate lawlessness. And this...this is as lawless as things get. Gangs thinking they can push people around, these...I mean, us, outsiders, need a leader." She shook her head, then added. "I don't mean me. I am no leader of men, I am a fighter, I require....assistant in direction." She was being as brutely honest as she could about herself in relation to this world. "I can't say I know for sure if what these...men speak of is true or not."

Kimaya
"It is already too much that those who have never been an Outsider control your lives down to the minute detail. Your life, your love, your work, and even your deaths. Yes, death! If any citizen of the Grand Unity were to come here and kill one of you, do you think anyone would stop them? Do you think they would go before the Contraption, like the good people of society they claim to be?"

"Its not enough for them! They want to strip you of your rights completely!"

Patience, Lias... She smiled to herself, having heard him from above, and directed the thought to him. He would hear it, of course...

At the threat of violence, however, between the two groups, Zarael's mind raced. There were innocent people here, that only wanted to see what the commotion was. There was no need to risk them, and the Archmage instinctively moved forward in case she had the ability to intervene. On Ethereal, it was her duty to keep some sort of peace...

Besides, if that man was correct in what he said about Outsiders, she wanted to talk to him...

Lias was about to sneer again at the man when he heard something in his mind.

Patience Lias...

Zarael.

He glanced down at the crowd, spotting her in her green robes, and shifted his stance so that he could keep both her and the man above in his sight at the same time.

"Do you now?" he directed his words back up to this 'Machina'. "And what consequence is that? Will it change anything?" He smirked. "Does it matter anything to me? What makes anyone believe that...'the outsiders' as you call these people-" He deliberatly did not include himself in the equation. "-cannot fight for themselves?" It was hypothetical of course; he personally had no intention of doing any fighting on anyones behalf but his own.

She wasn't sure if he was the good guy, or the bad guy. In fact, the only word she really caught out of the whole speech was "Contraption", so it probably meant he was a bad guy, maybe.

Alkhar shuddered. "I hear you. People like this..." He, too, shook his head. "Let's just say I've seen it not end well all too many times."

Concluding there was no immediate advantage in getting involved in the situation in front of them, Alkhar decided to continue the ongoing conversation, instead. Maybe he could get a few clues out of this woman - she seemed to have at least a little more information at hand than he did.

"So... I really only just got here, but uh. Outsiders? Is that anyone not born here, or what?"

Kimaya
Glancing at the fiend again, he had to smile even though she was on the wrong side. The girl had hit on the concern of the Machina exactly... well one of them. The crazy ideas going around in council were just that - crazy. He had heard the rumors about slavery and fighting pits and all sorts of new industries in which the idea of lesser rights for Outsiders was central. Of course, it wasn't that simple... the new laws wouldnt precisely affect all Outsiders. But they didn't need to know the details.

The man above was obviously some wizard now that he had a closer look. He was right... the Outsiders were great in numbers. It was the last thing he wanted them thinking thought. But there was little chance of that, they were a cowed and sheeplike flock with a few bright spots - usually new arrivals, that slowly melted back into the scenery with the rest of them.

"What do I have to offer? Why should I care? Why do you need us?" It had been the very question he hoped to answer, even if no one had asked it. "Why nothing more than your due, my friends - no, fellow Outsiders. I was one of you once... long ago. Everyone knows the Machina were once Outsiders, all of us. We were strong and survived and carved out own place in the Grand Unity. We have not forgotten our roots. It is long past time we welcomed our brethren among us." He noticed the frightened and frantic girl who ran almost too close before stopping and falling to the ground. The crowd was muttering at his latest declaration. Good.

"Let us all become one! The Great ________ welcomes each and every man or woman who can bring their skills to the aid of us in this time - when the time comes - will become a part of our great nation."

Many people were astounded at the man's words. Some of them looked like they even believed it. Danique could see that Lenisa clearly did, she was on her knees waiting to hear more, a look of hope in her eyes.

The rain began to spatter here and there, lightning still dashing across the clouds, just as soon as the first glinting of metal appeared in the sky, growing larger. It was time.... the Peace were bringing in backup.

Narrowing his eyes, he glanced towards the man that waved up at the incoming ships. Whatever was going on here, it seemed that things was going to get pretty serious quickly.

So far rather than getting any answers, he only found himself asking more questions.

"Stay in your houses and let them steal your rights!!! Or stand with us and be true citizens!!" The man roared again as the first full force began making its way over from the Skyship. "You!" He pointed at Lias, who he was hoping was a powerful wizard, now that he had his attention. "You are not one to be controlled! How can the weak and corrupt control the rightious and strong with the mere power of their words!" He was not surprised to see the SkyCaptain appear ahead of his men, translocating himself ten paces away with a look of forebearance on his face. "Ok, funs over, you are all arrested for disturbing the peace, attacking officials and some other stuff, etcetera etcetera." He waved his hand in a hurry up motion, as if unconcerned by the force of men he was there to deal with.

"Nooooo!" A cry sounded nearby. It was the girl he remembered from the incident before. Oh goody, he thought. More drama. "Let him speak! We need to hear what he has to say!"

She began repeating her words and soon others join in the chant: Let him speak! Let him speak!. The crowd was looking ugly, some of them shoved each other yelling at them to come to their senses, while still others screamed about their rights, being Machina of all things. Some of the people looked like they were seriously considering defending the Machina.

It began to cross his mind that he could, if he wished, make some attempt to 'join' these men and use their power to fuel his own. And the thought made him grin deliciously. Being too busy half freaking out over sky ships to notice the sudden proximity of the fighting going on around them, Alkhar was completely unprepared when the man came flying at him from behind, and hence ended up falling face down on the ground. Unfortunately, as he had still been holding the dagger he had previously received, he ended up twisting his arm in a rather unlucky manner, a movement in which he managed to stab himself in the thigh.

At first screaming out in pain, he tried to roll over and get the man off off him. Ideally in such a way that he could retaliate the by-proxy attack. Though which of the two men he was going to try to get at he hadn't quite decided.

Laresh felt the sizzle of magic crackling into his direction before it was close enough to smash into him - but just barely. Translocating out of the way, he could feel the hair on his head and arms prickling with how close it had been. He searched around for the source and found Lias standing on the roof. Oh great, him again. And it would mean writing a full report on this Outsider - two full warnings. Not good... the last thing he needed was an order to capture alive on this guy.

He saw the Machina gang leader still crying out all his nonsense, and the people either trying to get to him to kill him or defend him all around. It was turning into a full scale riot. He just thought the words when he heard the first tinkling of glass and the boom of one of the Machina's weapons go off exploding the stand of one unlucky merchant who hadn't been fast enough packing up for the evening.

Why didn't they fly off? Did they want to get taken? Laresh had the sinking suspicion that the men fully intended on staying to the bitter end. The idea made his head hurt. What made it hurt even more though was that he saw Xalite on his way down in Dragon form.

Lias met eyes with Laresh; cold, grey, dark eyes he possessed, the Demonmaster, but for just a moment he became distracted. The weapon firing, the sound of glass into the crowd, and he remembered Zarael. In a flash he had disapeared with a crack of sound, only to reappear in the crowd below, grab hold of his old rival's arm, and then with another crack he was back on the roof with her by his side. Then he was ready to throw more chaos into the mix and boldly send another fizzle of attack at Laresh, but at the same time he was carefully shielding Zarael with other magics he had under his control...

Interesting....

She was quiet as she watched the chaos below, glancing over to see what the demonmaster would do about her appearance. She was content to wait for him to notice her. He did have a nice look to him she could see up close, even if he was a crazy wild-eyed lunatic. Those things rarely bothered her.

((LOL))

So much for finding answers. This crowd was far too riled up, as could be seen with just this one man he was dealing with. And out of the corners of his eyes, Shun could see that other fights were breaking out as well.

Grabbing onto his daggers, his eyes darted from the man to the woman next to him that had a rather large chunk of wood. Getting hit by that definitely would end poorly for him. It also wouldn't be easy getting close with the way she was swinging that thing around, but if he was lucky, she'd end up taking out her friend for him. For now, he backed the hell up to try and avoid getting hit. With how many people there were around, it wasn't easy to maneuver.

Finally being freed of the unwelcome weight, Alkhar sat up and gasped for air, at the moment forgetting about his immediate intention for revenge. Rolling his eyes, he returned the mutterings with one of his own.
"It's your bloody dagger, captain."

Well that worked out in his favor. Even so, Shun didn't sheathe his weapons just yet. With how volatile the whole situation was, it was better that he was armed. It just annoyed him how things just seemed to explode into chaos, however. What the hell was wrong with these people anyway?

This was what he got for checking things out, he supposed.

Slinking away from the crazy wood-lady, he paused as he heard some cries of help coming from somewhere behind him. While he was no hero, there was a fairly good chance the person seeking help was kind of like him... in that they were dragged into this without any of this really being his business.

That and there was always the potential of getting more useful information.

Letting out a huff, he turned and started making his way to try and find where the source of the cries was.

"Friend?"

What an odd choice of wording, he couldn't help but sound surprised and a little suspisous. He'd never had a friend in his life....not since that fool Nathanyal...

"Friend," he repeated, despite himself his head was swimming with the woman's power and he knew he wanted a piece of it, somehow. "Perhaps, or perhaps an ally....? A woman of both incredable beauty and power, a Demonmaster could even begin to feel it might be his lucky day.." He caught himself too late; he was flirting with his woman, in his own strange way...

"Soddin' bloody..." *WHUMPF* Sadye hit the ground as quickly as possible and hoped the...whatever it was...would pass her by.

There was absolutely nowhere for Xalite to land.... but as soon as he was near enough to make a big shadow over the crowd he roared with all of his might and blew a gout of flame into the air. The sound was far more defeaning than even the tools belonging to the Machina. Many of the rioters were stunned to hear it, some afraid, some simply startled. Of course for every person that stopped what they were doing there were two more that kept on with it.

Laresh began to sweat as he realized this full scale riot wasn't your ordinary piece of work. He needed to get the Machina to flee if he was going to restore order. But how...

Smiling with self congratulations as she noticed the interest of the demonmaster - and what a charmer he was - directed at her fully. "Friends, allies...." she trailed off indicating there might be other words that could work as well there with an impish smile. "You get the idea, I'm sure."

Just barely missing the second man, Alkhar turned around in an attempt to attack him again when he heard the cry from the first one. He couldn't help but stop. Half laughing, half not beliveing what he heard, he said

"Wait. This man is your friend? Then WHY on earth were you fighting?"

He shook his head, looking at Rebecca.
"Can you believe these people?"

Landing on the ground just in time to avoid the sizzling technomagic directed at her, suddenly, Sadye found herself surrounded by several rabbits all scurrying about and trying to get out from underneath the layers of clothing which happened to drop on her and all of them since they no longer fit their owners well. One of them sniffed sadly at her nose... somehow realizing its situation.

"What is it that you want from me then?" Lias turned his head so he was looking at her from the corner of his eye in what he hoped was a charming way. "You must want...something, to make such a proposition."

"Mad," Rebecca renewed her earlier statement incredulously. "Totally. This fight is futile and ridiculous. On my world I would have hauled the both of you into a cell for at least the night!" She shook her head.

Rivek fiddled with the mask at his side. More goddamn drama. Especially with the folks that ruled these parts. There were a lot of folk who thought they were damn righteous and wouldn't leave well enough alone. He'd been around Dal'kania for awhile, even watched some other nutty tournament a couple years ago. Looked like things were going to heat up again.

He knew what Outsiders were. He'd died a very long time ago, and had no intention of going back. Although his eyes had been returned to him, he still bore the burn scars up and down his body.

But really, "Outsiders" was just another word for "trouble".

((Oh, yes. Guess who..... ;D ))

"Well, I... I dunno... it was..." the man was on his feet now looking sort of confused back and forth from his friend to the two new Outsiders. "It just sort of seemed right at the time." He finished scratching his head, while his friend sat down heavily in a chair and began inspecting his wound with his own confused exression. All around many people stopped what they were doing at the roar of what they knew to be a Dragon came from outside.

"Dragon!" Someone yelled, even though everyone already knew. And suddenly they were rushing for the windows as one again. It wasn't every day you got to see justice meted out by one of the big guys. Whoever was deserving of it though was still unclear.

The Machina apparently had no intention of going anywhere. The man was still shouting for people to join him. The girl at his feet with Zoe in front of her was crying to them to save her brother, and he was telling her it would be so. He would save them all and together they would stop all the wrongs of the Great Unity, corrupt as it was becoming.

All around them the forces of the Peace were moving in and out and trying to do their job without harming the people caught up in it. Laresh grimaced. Soon one of his men would be in close enough to take the guy out, but what was taking so long?

Rolling his eyes, Alkhar let out another little laugh. Really, this place.

"I personally wouldn't mind that much, as long as it kept me away from that."

He made a gesture in the general direction of the madness around them, especially towards the two men whom had been fighting in their vicinity just now. Apparently, having friends around here was about as safe as it would be having a ravaging wolf as a house pet.

Then, when someone yelled "Dragon!", Alkhar looked up, and saw... just that.
"Well, that's perfectly... reasonable... nothing crazy about this AT ALL."

Then he realized his leg was still bleeding.
"...Dragons don't fancy human blood all that much, do they?"

Blade Kuroda
While Shun was still trying to find where that cry had come from, he paused as he heard a tremendous roar. Turning, he also heard someone shout out 'dragon!', but didn't see one from his current vantage point. Quite frankly.. he wasn't sure if the appearance of a dragon would be a good or bad thing at this point either. It could potentially be very... very bad.

Sadye frowned sadly at the rabbit. That's the fate that would've befell her? Something angry stirred in her chest and she pushed herself to her feet and fixed the ringleader of the gang with a glare. She didn't have the abilities of her ancestors, but she did have some magic granted to her through her fiendish blood.

User ImageStanding with a growl, she leapt for the ringleader and two things happened. The first assault would be on his mind as she called upon the ability of her ancestors to frighten and inspire fear in their enemies to try and incite that same fear in him. The second would be if she got her hands on him as she focused the darkness spell she so often used for an escape and attempted to apply it to his clothing so that wherever he went the globe of magical darkness in the area around him would follow.

Erinia

Giggling like a girl, Erinia feigned shyness, even going so far as to use her powers to put a little bit of a blush into her cheeks. She thought she looked rather pretty with a blush, anyway. "Why, you.... what I want is.... for me to know and for you to find out." She smiled coyly and then created a portal. Before stepping into it she turned back. "Look for my invitation..." And then she vanished as the glowing circle faded behind her.

Against his will Lias was finding himself gawping after the woman, whose name he still did not even know; he watched her slip away, through the portal, beauty and power. Before he could reach out or try to follow her she was gone. But the promise of meeting again was there and he knew, although he might not so readily admit it out loud, that he would be waiting for their next meeting eagerly...

The Machina were not completely unprepared for magical attacks, in fact they were expecting them - however the plan had been it should be at the hands of the Peace. So when the magic hit Grayson and the surrounding people, he grimaced and tried to fight it. His magic detector was going off with little siren noises, allowing him to realize he was being attacked magically. He held on to his head and howled fighting the urge to cower and flee.

All around the path towards him opened up with Sadye's carefully considered spell... people ran away from the fight, and some of the Machina even began to fly away.

"Ussssing Maaagic on Meeeeeee!!! Seee them!!!" He managed to howl just before the fiend girl was on him. "You!" he cried realizing the source of the magic must be her. "You are ruining everything! Stop! Auuuugh --" He cried out as he was suddenly engulfed in darkness.

Another roar from the air from Xalite and people were really beginning to notice. Some of them were confused when they saw the man vanish. Some of them cried out in anger and some cheered. Some of them stared puzzled at the ball of darkness....

Blade Kuroda
At this point, Shun had lost track of where he had heard the cries of help. Whoever it was, they must have succumbed to whatever was going on. So much for that. Shaking his head to himself, he glanced back. There wasn't much he could see, but there was a sort of dark bubble out in the middle of the crowd. Something was also causing some more panic from the looks of things.

In any case, he figured that it'd be best if he got away from the area.

Engulfed in a ball of darkness. Wow, that's a pretty awful way to go. Although he thought the T'narling was being rather brash. He figured he would lay low and not bother with the dragon. He didn't know much about them, but if they were like any other animal - or reasonable people - if you didn't bother them, they wouldn't eat you.

Unfortunately, signing a deal with a death god meant you actually did have to look after people.

He looked over and saw a man on the ground with a bleeding leg who looked absolutely bewildered. He unwrapped some of the bandaging around his upper arm and gave it to the stranger. It was still clean - he used them to hide his scars, not for any practical purpose. This guy could use it more than he could. He was dead already.

"I think you could use this."

Kimaya
Laresh watched as his men managed to begin subduing the rioters - things had quieted down now that the leader was sort of in a bit of a bind. The dark globe rolled along causing panic and fear... fortunately this had the affect of causing people to flee the scene or run indoors. Good.

Xalite finally was able to land after finding a space that had cleared out, setting his hind legs down with a crash. He made a grab for the darkness and Laresh winced as he wondered if whatever came out would be whole. The dark globe disappated when the Dragon's claw stretched within it, the magical resistance breaking the spell. The leader was captured - and alive too. Laresh exhaled.

Now to set the rest of this to right. He saw that his men had been to some extremes subduing some of the people... it was unfortunate but necessary, it seemed.

He really wanted to know who had managed that spell. Any bits of information would be useful when writing his report. Behind him, Xalite kept roaring - it was annoying but necessary. Particularly so because it reminded him how much they relied on Dragons with some Outsiders and keeping the peace. Grimacing he set about to finish up the task for today.

(( rofl Wait for it...Sadye will either a) realize what she just did and have an 'oh s**t, run away' moment or b) Get herself into even more trouble. It's like her lot in life xd ))

Once her spell went off Sadye let the man's clothing go with a slight push. She'd done the damage she needed to do. She could hear the sounds of some of them running away. Good, they didn't need this mibix. "Take your tief elsewhere ya soddin' berk. Outsiders can take care of their own. They do it in Sigil, they'll do it here," she said to him as she backed away from him in the darkness until she was out of it. She might not have been entirely sure of what she said, but no good tout let any potential customers get bobbed or peeled on their watch, and Sadye wasn't about to start now.

Sensing a lulling, at least in their immediate area, Rebecca caught her breath and offered a hand to help her new ally.

"How's your wound?" she asked although there was no sympathy in her tone. She could not feel sorry for someone doing such a stupid thing...
