I was thinking of all the changes that have been made in history when it comes to human rights. Women having the right to vote, mixed race marriages, abolition of slavery, the right to bear arms, freedom of speech, etc etc.
Well,... it would be a wonderful thing to have a law passed stating that gaymarriage is acceptable in holy churches and recognized as matromony between two people.
But what if such a thing does not come to pass in your life time? I wouldn't mind so much if I couldn't see this event, but I would very much want my children to have such freedom. (if they should ever feel that they are anything other than heterosexual, of course.)
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think that there is a chance of gay marriage within our lifetime? What are the chances of it happening, you think? Would you be able to cope, if nothing came to pass?
I would live out my life normally. It would be sad,... but not terribly mortifying. cry My sexuality is a part of my life. Not my entire life itself. 3nodding There are amny many more good things that one can experience in life, after all. heart

In Canada, we just gained something like that. Our law for gay marriage is, I think, the best way you can do it because its not emposing the lifestyle on anyone. Any couple can get married in any establishment they want to, as long as its within limits that straight couples have, but any religious organization can retain the right to deny preforming their wedding if they are personally against it. As great as freedom of rights is, we have to keep in mind that everyone needs those same freedoms, to either choose to be part of or not part of the homosexual lifestyle in any way they would choose. As for the united states...I really don't think you will see your entire country voting in gay marriage for a long time....

I live in Halifax where a ton of gay couples came on a cruise ship last month with Rosie O'Donnell to get married. I am proud that I live in a city that for the most part accepts the gay community. One of the most popular bars here is a gay bar(which I have gone to and am going there for my birthday)

Where I live same-sex marriage is perfectly legal, yet I would really like to see my whole country legalize it sometime during my lifetime. 3nodding

i think churches really need to be more open. they need to realize that homosexuality isnt always a choice and that it CAN be something your born with, and thats what i think is okay with god. since he creats us all in his own images, maybe he creats us that way too. by giving homosexuals the opposite brain, or to much of the other sex's hormones (or whatever that one was) and i think the bible talks about the homosexuals who turn LATER in life. because of a major break up with a boyfriend/girlfriend they go gay. or some other stupid a** reason.
like i said, churches need to be more understanding, more open, and actually ******** learn about this stuff befor they ******** diss it. i mean. god wouldnt hate someone he made himself. someone he made exactly that way. to be born that way. seriously churches/homophobes, grow up.

Please don't say homosexuality is something you are born with, a person always has a choice. Think of it like this: If the pope really wanted to, he could go on a killing spree. Even if it is against your nature you could choose a heterosexual lifestyle. I don't like it when people act like there is a lack of free will, that's the point I'm trying to make. Also, when people say it's something you're born with, to some people it makes it sound like a birth defect, so that's another reason why I don't like it when people say that.
As for the the religious part you're talking about, I have another perspective that kinda argues the same point. If you had homosexual tendencies and you chose a heterosexual lifestyle just because of the beliefs of our society and the teachings of the church, then you are living a lie. In their eyes you're doing the right thing but you'd be doing it for the wrong reasons.
Humans aren't perfect, humans wrote the bible, king solomon screwed around with the bible to change it to suit his purposes. Things in the bible can be misinterpretted and before that happens things can get mistranslated, it wasn't written in english. The bible is very flawed, a decent Christian should only concern themselves with the core beliefs and the 10 commandments.
