ok, ive heard a lot of people say that the planet the chiefs ship can be seen drifting towards at the end of the halo 3 final cutscene on legendary is planet onyx... you people who belive this are noobs... play the game again, pay attention, and then read the book again.....
at the end of the level ark, 343 guilty spark comments that the ark is two to the eighteenth lightyears from the galactic center 9or something >_>;; ill play it again and revise this later if i got that wrong) also he comments when high charity lands on the ark, after the ship master asks, "why would the flood come here?" spark says "the ark is out of range of all active instalations" which pouts the ark outside of the galaxy
Onyx, is IN the galaxy, (havent read the book in a while) but i think they said it was just outside of unsc controled space. also meaning it is IN the galaxy
it is not onyx, they are way too far apart
also onyx was more or less blown up. and was amde up of sentinals, in the video, if you play it slowly enough, you can see its solid, and has craters, if it was sentinals the craters would have been filled by then
if the planetoid is anything its probably the planetoid you can see in the sky in the center of the ark its the only planet that you can be sure is even in that system, and if you look closey you can see craters on its surface, maybe flood landed there. maybe leaving it open for another game with the chief but i doubt they will theyll probably end up doing pre halo games like fall of reach or something

To me, the planet looked like it had large high-tech cities on it, b'c I saw blue lights, like a blue Coruscant. Anyway, it was ominous, and that one scene made me believe there might be another game afterwards continuing the story. I mean, wouldn't that be cool? Master Chief wakes up from the cryo sleep, and he's on an unfamiliar, alien planet, and has to fight whatever is there. That would be cool, but it just wouldn't be Halo w/o the Covenant or (and I can't believe I'm saying this!) the Flood. That's my opinion, anyway.

yeah i saw that too. im still not entirely sure if it was a crater or what XP i watched it on youtube and slowed down the video as much as i could, the lights were moving it looked abit like an ocean or something of the like. but who can realy tell XP im sure there will be another halo ish game. probably stuff like halo wars, maybe stuff based on the books like a fall of reach game (that would freakin rule) they might do something with the chief but yeah i dont think it'd be the same with out the covenant or the flood

They are also coming out with another Halo trilogy. But I dont know if its before or after Halo 1-3. I dont think before but they said the first game wouldnt be called Halo 4.

The person above me is right, there is supposed to be another Halo Trilogy. It is set in the distant future (Of Halo 3). But with the legendary video, the planet looks very futureistic. So my best guess would be that the part of the ship that MC was on somehow travelled into said future. (If my guess is right, we won't have to worry about never using John again as a tool of mass destruction

I hate to burst your bubble, but there is not going to be another Halo trilogy, Halo 3 completes it, The next game to come out will be Halo wars and that's the story of what happens before the events in Combat Evolved. Although...rumors has it that Bungie is planning to tie in the Halo universe with the Marathon universe. it will be interesting to see how that turns out. Perhaps that's what the legendary ending is hinting towards or maybe it's what the movie is about, if they ever make the movie that is.

Wow. I could smell the ignorance from this topic from another guild.
1. No, it's not Onyx, you're right. However, you're wrong in saying that the MC couldn't possibly be there, seeing as how the Ark is so far away. Why? HE WENT THROUGH THE PORTAL, FOOL. The only problem is that the portal collapsed as he was going through, so he and the back half of the ship didn't end up in the same place as the rest of the ship (which made it back to Earth). There is no way he was anywhere near the Ark, because Halo would have killed him the moment he went through the portal.
By the way, you don't see any planet in the sky of the Ark. You only see the portal, and our galaxy. That is how far away the Ark is.
He could quite literally be anywhere in the universe (hell, for all we know he could be in another dimension, what with how much we know about forerunner portal technology), but I'm assuming that he is indeed somewhere in our galaxy still, because Bungie would be stupid to just throw the Master Chief away to a place he could never come back from.
2. Those aren't craters. Craters don't have lit rims and intricate detail. That entire planet is either artificial or is completely covered in some technologically advanced construction of some sort. There is, in fact, no way to accurately speculate what or where the planet is.
3. The most important thing to note, however, is that video is NOT canon. Canon = part of the official story. I don't have the source, but it was stated by a bungie employee that that video was just a little something extra for fun. Much like the video you get for beating Halo 1 on Legendary. (For example, if the Halo 1 Legendary video was canon then the Sargeant (sp?) would be dead. There was no way he could suddenly escape that explosion from that range, after all.)
There will not be a Halo 4 or anything like that, but apparently Peter Jackson has put into development 2 other Halo games. He won't say anything more than that. With Halo Wars that makes a grand total of 3 new Halo based games coming our way. Yay.
Oh, and no, Onyx wasn't blown up. It self-disassembled. As in the sentinels that made up the ENTIRE structure of the planet flew apart from each other in order to kill everything that was near the planet. (Defense mechanism to protect those in the sphere in the center.) That means that all that's left of Onyx is the few meter wide sphere in the center (which holds that squad in some sort of dimensional rift) and a few billion sentinels floating around it.

Actually the Dyson sphere is smaller than a pixel, thus the name 'micro' dyson sphere. >_> The rest is spot on however.
