General Guidelines

These rules apply to everyone, whether running or participating in an RP.

1) Obey the TOS at all times. The Law of the Land comes before any laws of our community. If there's any disagreement, the TOS wins.

2) Keep it PG-13. Romance, violence and swearing can all be a part of the RP's you'll find here, but remember to keep it well within the PG-13 limits.

3) Be polite. If a misunderstanding develops between members, do your best to work it out amongst yourselves. If you can't work it out, then agree to go your separate ways. Flaming and rudeness will not be tolerated.

4) No pre-made characters. You are welcome to base your RPs and characters on popular books/movies/television shows. However, no matter how much you admire the main character from it, you are not him. Playing a pre-made character severely limits your creativity and the authenticity of your RP. I will make one exception to this rule. You may make a known character an NPC in the RP, as long as it meets three standards. 1) Their presence is vital to a plot point of the RP 2) They are only a temporary or occasional addition to the RP and 3) They are approved by myself first.

5) As the primary mod in the Theatre District, I have final say on who is or is not breaking my rules. I hope not to have to step in and interfere any more than absolutely necessary, although I do hope to RPwith some of you, and perhaps even host one or two of my own. However, if it becomes necessary, I will step in to keep things running smoothly here. Repeatedly ignoring the rules and any warnings you may recieve can result in my having to call in my secret bouncer team of zombie demon chinchillas and having you thrown out of the Theatre District, and perhaps even the guild itself. Please, don't make that necessary. I want the Theatre Disctrict to be a fun, relaxing place for all.

Rules for RP Makers

1) Use RP tags.

[A] - Put this at the beginning of your title if you want potential memebers to apply for a spot with your group before joining

[NA] - Put this at the beginning of your title if all are welcome to join your group without a previous application

[F] - Put this at the beginning of your title if your group is full and no longer accepting members

[UC] - Put this at the beginning of your title if you are still setting up your RP and are not ready for members to join yet.

2) Specify the type of RP you're hosting (Lit, Semi-lit, Casual)

3) Make sure your thread is well organized. A good guidline to follow is to include a Storyline Description, RP Rules, Application Procedure, Character Bios, and perhaps a Storyline Summary for the benefit of new members, in your first few posts.

Rules for RP Players

1) No God Moding! This is probably the most important rule to remember. God Moding is annoying and takes all the fun out of the character interaction. What is God Moding? God Moding is when your character does something to another character without their permission. Just remember: You can only attempt to effect another player. Never assume you succeeded. (ex: "Billy punched Bobby in the face" is God Moding. "Billy threw a wild punch, trying to hit Bobby in the face" is not.)

2) Follow all rules set by the RP creator.

3) Limit the amount of OOC chatter in a thread to an absolute minimum. The Theatre District has a lovely Lobby where you may meet to talk and relax OOC.

4) If you must post something OOC, use tags such as ((ooc )), {{ooc}}, [[ooc]], etc.

RPing is a lot of fun, but can seem a bit intimidating at first. I'm including a great link to blog created by a Giaan roleplayer, which will help new roleplayers learn the ropes a bit. (And help remind experienced roleplayers that the ropes are still there.) It's a bit of a loing read, but well worth it.
