As Ange pointed out we lack guild activity. I've said this 10,000 times before. While the contests & the RPG have helped somewhat we still have an overly inactive guild. We need to formulate a plan to help fix this problem. Here are some things that we have working already:
-members now have to post in a specific thread during the week of the giveaway to qualify to win a prize. This has gotten a few people to show their faces. Very few though.
- Once we reach 100 members we're opening up a guild charity. This has led some people to start recommending their friends. We're now at 74 members.
We need to figure out how to spurr more activity. While our rather short list above has helped to some extent we're really not making that much progress. Please post any and all suggestions biggrin

Maybe we're recruiting the wrong type of members? We have a lot of younger, more inexperienced members. They're very erratic and unpredictable. Maybe if we target the more mature members we'll see more of a guaranteed response?
Just a theory.

I checked out the pointers in the captain's guild & a lot of them said they used random invites (an invitation that says something along the lines of : "congrats! you've been randomely selected to join our guild bla bla bla bla bla" & that they've had a suprising turnout because people feel special that they are picked. I've gotten a handful of people using that. Maybe we should have everyone on the crew invite people that way? They reccomended targeting people that seem like they fit the guild & that have a high # of avg. daily postings & such because active people are more likely to check in.

I'm not sure of the everyone on crew idea. That can be troublesome when it comes time to demote. Maybe just get the current crew to do a certain amount by the end of the week?
The invite looks pretty good, except the we're literate part is kind of misleading. Literate implies the whole population of the guild uses proper English and is grammatically correct, which we most certainly are not.

True about the literate part: The way I see it is most of us use semi-decent grammar & at least make an attempt at using it correctly. I suppose I use literate in the sense that the average person could read it aka: no l33t, ph33r, OMG lyk I sooo luv u! type speech.
As for the crew the active members are: The Big Dipper Ange myself & EP (evil penguin isn't on much but this is my spare account so it's annoying for it not to have crew powers; especially if I find something I want to change while I'm logged in).

oh oh oh I understand what you meant about the crew thing; I didn't mean have every member on the crew. I meant that everyone that IS on the crew should use that form. My bad. sweatdrop

Most gaians view literate as someone who uses grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc. correctly 99% of the time and writes clearly and concisely. xd

I suppose I could pull an a** moment & say since I said "we're literate" and thus implied the marauders are literate (not the guild) that it simply means we speak english well enough & know enough about society to function. biggrin
... I know.... I'm really lame aren't I? But you love me anyways. heart

Just a theory. I like your idea. Target more mature (or experienced) members for recruting. MJ: Yeah, sadly, alot of Gaians take literate the wrong way. I think we should tone down on that.
